Hey Drake. Thanks for the insightful and constructive comment. By the way, I searched Drake Salas to see what you have to offer. I found 3 different channels using the name Drake Salas. There was a total of 6 videos for all three - none of them original. Please let me know where I can find a video you've done so I can learn from you.

advice on marijuana start up business?
Brian Silverthorn (8 months ago)
Hi Mark, Starting a marijuana business is the same as starting any business. You have to have a plan, there has to be a market that will support your business, you have to have all the required permits, licenses, etc. and you have to have access to the money you'll need to get going and grow to profitability. All fo this is covered in one or more videos on this channel. Best of luck.

How to start the mineral water distribution company?
Brian Silverthorn (10 months ago)
Sharique. I hate to be general, but starting any business, regardless of the product, includes the same basic stuff. Is there a market for what your offering? Is it big enough to support your business growth over time? Do you have enough money to get started? What's your plan? There may be more detailed answers to some earlier comments. Check my most recent video and send me an email about upcoming webinars. We can discuss specific questions them. best of luck.

Any books that can help
Brian Silverthorn (10 months ago)
The E Myth series. Built to Last. Good to Great. The Speed of Trust. Those should get you started.
Brian Silverthorn (11 months ago)
In no particular order, Good to Great, the E myth books, The Speed of Trust, Built to Last, Bo's Lasting Lessons (This is a book about college football, but it's one of the best business books I've read, if you pay attention). There are more, but these should keep you busy for a while.

Oh wow that was a pathetic attempt. I stopped the video when he pretended anyone would wonder about him filming where he is filming. I'm 100% sure no one even noticed or could even tell what he was in. And I'm definitely not sticking around because that little weak ass trick people use in a boring video to try and make you stick around.
Brian Silverthorn (1 year ago)
Hey Brian. Thanks for the insightful comment. It shows your thoroughness for gathering all the information you needed to make an honest evaluation of the video. By the way, I took a look at your channel hoping to see examples of the way videos should be made. I couldn't find one video made by you personally. I'm sure that's a disappointment to your 4 subscribers. Keep up the good work.

Would you say it's better to start by working and managing a small business, gain a good amount of experience before starting your own? I plan on starting and building a very successful Homecare / Nursing Asst Schl/business very soon. Thanks for the lesson.
Brian Silverthorn (2 years ago)
That's how it worked for me. I was the general manager for a small business before starting my own business. You don't have to start as an employee, but it's a great way to gain experience. I have a new eGuide coming out very soon that will help when you start your own business, I'll be posting a video about it by the end of the week.

How did it go in 2 years pal?
Buddy Bud-Bud (2 months ago)
My advice to you is don't! Learn what is is to work for someone else, learn what it entails to run a business, customer relations, financial statements, tax laws, competition, supply and demand, geographical advantage and disadvantage etc... don't start a business if you don't know what the hell you doing! It's like writing university exams without even going to school. You'll fail fast and fail hard
Brian Warner (1 year ago)
Great idea. Remember to try and fix everything you can even if it is a clothing dryer machine or a motor cycle. Just make sure you are always fixing stuff fast and finished. It never pays to sit still or do nothing during the day in that business. Also it never pays to spend months or even too many weeks on rebuilding 1 car.
Brian Silverthorn (2 years ago)
Good luck with your small car yard.

Brian Silverthorn (2 years ago)
Hi Joseph - My email address is [email protected] Let me know how I can help.
Daniel Lindsey (2 years ago)
Brian Silverthorn (2 years ago)
That's a broad question Daniel. The short answer is that you run a roller rink the same way you run any business. Hire the right people. Make sure they have a full understanding of what you expect from them while doing their jobs.Compensate them appropriate;y. Put systems into place for all aspects of your operation. Focus on your customers - charge a fee that will bring in the customers you want, make their use of your facility a pleasant experience, ask them what activities, specials, etc they'd like you to offer, and keep you eye on the money. I wish you the best.
john wall (2 years ago)
Hey Brian! I am about to acquire an engineering degree and the thought of owning my own business has always appealed to me. Problem is I have zero business knowledge so what do you recommend my first step should be after I get a business idea? Where should I go to learn the basics?
Brian Silverthorn (2 years ago)
The self-serving answer is to become a member of my website once I finish the redo this week. Other than that, there are plenty of books that discuss the basics - choosing the right business for you, determining the potential of the market, determining how you'll approach the market, figuring out how you'll fund your business until it becomes profitable, choosing the right people to help, deciding on the most beneficial structure, etc. That being said, the real key is implementing your decisions & strategies effectively. This all sounds pretty daunting. And, given that the failure rate of new businesses in about 95% in the first three to five years, there are a lot of well intended people who don't make it. The best thing you can do is find someone with experience & knowledge that you're comfortable with and have confidence in to go to for feedback & advice when you need it. I wish you the best.

Verse Monct (3 years ago)
Thank you for sharing this Mr BrianSilverthorn. We do agree that employee's always the number one. Now there's something I'll like to know from your perspective: Do you think that it is better to be paying our employee a monthly fixed salary or to give them incentives/commission by percentage in driving them to work for a common goal?
Brian Silverthorn (3 years ago)
+Mary Skyers (Researcher) Agreed Mary. Verifiable successful results in the past should always be considered.
Business Development (3 years ago)
+Verse Monct Past successful experience in a job of some kind is also key.
Verse Monct (3 years ago)
Thank you Mr Silverthorn for the Advice ~ Really appreciate it.
Brian Silverthorn (3 years ago)
+Verse Monct It depends on the type of business and the position an employee occupies. The challenge is to find an objective, track-able result to tie the incentive/commission to.  It's relatively easy for sales people. Commissions can be based on dollar volume or units sold, for example. The best way to get high performance and high productivity from employees is to be very thorough and very careful in the hiring process.
Athman Adiseshan (3 years ago)
ok so you've run 1, can ig et a case stuy of what  fuels worldwide business csccess period i'm a big business not a small business guy?
Brian Silverthorn (3 years ago)
+Athman Adiseshan I'm assuming the same things fuel worldwide business that fuel local, regional and country-wide business success - a product or service that solves a problem for a large number of people and a highly competent team that markets, sells, producers, delivers, stands behind and services what's being offered.

Patricia Justice (3 years ago)
In the first few years, when I'm just struggling to get by (I'm still working a full-time job), do I need a CPA, and if not, what do I need to do /how do I keep up best with expense receipts etc. ?
Patricia Justice (3 years ago)
+Brian Silverthorn Thanks, Brian. I have receipts, and I have Paypal debit card payments that show up in my email box. Keeping track is the challenge...
Brian Silverthorn (3 years ago)
+Patricia Justice If you're struggling, there's no need for the added expense of a CPA right now. Keep your check register up to date and detailed. Make notes on your expense receipts and put them in a file. ASAP after the end of the year go through your check register and your expense receipts file, categorize the information, and then decide if you need help with your taxes. As your business income and the complexities of your business increase you can evaluate the need for a CPA. All the best.
rjravaz (4 years ago)
I'm thinking about opening a business, but I'm a little nervous about the books. I have heard for a small fee I could have a company do this for me, does anyone one have any thoughts on this? Thanks for any advise.
Brian Silverthorn (3 years ago)
@rjravaz When starting a business it's best to keep an eye on the books personally. Pay attention to the money coming in and the money going out. Be sure to put some away for taxes. Check with your local Chamber of Commerce and other sources for basic courses in business bookkeeping. Learning how to pay attention to cash flow is very important to every business owner. It helps you plan for the future and it also helps you protect your business. The more you learn now the better your decisions will be when deciding if you need a bookkeeper, a payroll service, a CPA or anything else financial in nature and who you should trust to perform those duties. I wish you the best, whatever you decide.

Thant's an excellent quote! Best wishes towards your future development
Brian stated that he believes the keys to starting and growing a successful business are fundamentally broken down into Efficient Operations, Increasing Profits, Growth, and Quick Response To The Market. In my opinion, I think that he’s pointing out the fact that you must engineer systems for your business before you start it. Not to take away from what Brian is teaching you, but another business expert that you should check out is Robert Kiyosaki and his Rich Dad series because he goes into extreme detail about business systems. You could combine Robert’s teachings with that of Brian.
Brian Silverthorn (4 years ago)
@Best Local Businesses In Thanks for including me in the same sentence as Robert Kiyosaki. I'm honored. His books are a great resource for business knowledge.

Good day  Sir. Brian Silverthorn i would like to ask if a water station business is a good business to start or a hamburger franchise store and where is the best place to put up this businesses in urban or rural area? i will wait for ur reply sir thank u very much
valsmen (4 years ago)
thank u sir i enjoy watching ur video
Brian Silverthorn (4 years ago)
Hi Valsmen. That's a big ask. You need to ask a lot of questions yourself before making a decision. Is either one of those choices - the water station or the hamburger franchise - something you'll enjoy working at every day? Is there a demand for the product you choose where you are? Are there enough people in the area to support the business you choose? My best advice is to figure out what you do best with the least amount of effort and then determine how to turn it into a business. You'll do great.
Chris Banzet (4 years ago)
I'm trying to pay attention to the message, but I'm still stuck on the fact that you said you were on the porch of a vineyard, and as an editor of photography and video, I can definitely tell that you are in a controlled room and used a filter screen and then transposed the backdrop later... Also, for FYI, your body size ratio to the backdrop is off...   ;)
Ned Cleaver (4 years ago)
I am going to have to agree, with Roy on this one.  Why even bring up his video quality?  If this were a video on how to make, professional video's.  Then I could see why you, (Chris) you would need to make such a comment.  If I was to watch a film about football, and the only comment I leave is, "Man oh man, do I LOVE Apples!" People would say the same thing to me, as Roy said to you.  And yes I know, your comment was not to that extreme.  Yet it still has nothing to do, with the topic at hand.
Roy Mercer (4 years ago)
You fail to bring up my first comment to your off topic irrelevant comment. I said, and I quote "How is that even relevant". As I said before, I was just inquiring about your dumb comment to begin with. That is all.
Chris Banzet (4 years ago)
@Roy Mercer No, now who is making a "play on words"? You did not "inquire" about the relevance of my comment.. Need I bring in the quotes? And I quote "It was a dumb comment. Why would you ask a dumb question that is completely irrelevant to the topic?" Who said Roy Mercer is the official "subject police" on what is or is not a topic of discussion? You know Roy, I thought you would be wise enough to see the image once I held up the mirror, but its quite obvious you still don't get it. Which means it moves beyond a simple one time event and opens it to the fact you probably treat everyone this way.  Let me be equally as blunt then. Brian gracefully answered my comment, and did so with a professional level of tact and informative gesture, which definitely debunked my thoughts about his video. For you to come back here, 4 months later and throw in an interjection where a peaceful informative exchange took place says everything that needs said..  But, I went a step further and gave you some rope... We'll let the other readers here determine WHO hung themselves with it...
Roy Mercer (4 years ago)
A bold statement? I just inquired about the relevance of your comment, nothing more, nothing less. You just cant admit the fact you made a dumb statement. Also, you keep trying to use intellectual superiority and "profound" theatrics to make your point. Not working.
Chris Banzet (4 years ago)
@Roy Mercer That too is an interesting take on this exchange..... On one hand you say that I am assuming things about you, yet here you are actually making a BOLD statement about my comment... Do you think those two reveal a level of truth? Or do you think I am the one who is simply pointing out more than what's there?
Kim Jong Udyr (5 years ago)

God I hate the terminology "small business" ..who starts a business to keep it small.. did Bill Gates say, I'm gonna start a software company but I wanna keep it "small".. did the founders of facebook say we're gonna start a" SMALL social website". C'mon its a business period. Please drop the small.

How many businesses start out big? How big is your business? The fact is that 90% of all businesses employ less than 500 people. And, there are plenty of small business owners who are very happy keeping their businesses small while achieving everything they want in life. Different strokes for different folks.

Great video man. Most of our clients are small businesses.  We let them compete with big businesses by outrunning them in search engines and good content on their websites. People tend to trust product with great websites.

That's a nice way of generating money from home... but Fast Finance Hub is better. I earn well over $6k every few days using it and anyone can too. Therefore take a look. Search Google for Fast Finance Hub and find out how.

I don't know about the hotel business in Egypt so I can't comment on that. Starting any business correctly, including a cafe, and building it into a valuable asset is always a good idea. I know people who started with a cafe and have grown their business into 4 successful restaurants and a successful resort. It's taken a number of years and a lot of smart work, but it happened. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hey , is it a smart idea to start a cafe and get money out of it if i get enough money to build a hotel in egypte.

This surely is very useful to those having difficulties in building a strong brand for small businesses on the Internet. Many people don't usually see it but starting and building a web presence could be the toughest challenge of business people.
