We Always Go to This Money Exchange Place 💰 in Myeongdong Seoul 🇰🇷

06:26
This video is about the Best Money Exchange Area in Myeongdong Seoul. If you're looking for a hotel/hostel, checkout Philstay Myeongdong, Our home for this trip. Conveniently located within Myeongdong shopping street. Request the corner room facing NSeoul Tower to get a really nice view. We enjoyed our stay here. You can check it out here at Agoda.com: http://rcl.ink/bna Check out my video/vlogging gear here: http://rcl.ink/w1x - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - BEST MONEY CHANGER IN SEOUL (Includes a phone screen video capture to show you where it is exactly) ---- We've been to Korea a couple times and we always look at exchange rates around different areas in Seoul and we always end up at this one spot in front of the Chinese Embassy in Myeongdong. They have the best forex rates based based on we've seen so far. ***Travel Tip: Forex comparisons are more accurately done on a weekend because the forex markets are closed so the rates are fixed for Saturday and Sunday so they don't fluctuate. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - BEST PRACTICES: 1. The Exchange Rate at the Airport is really high, so either bring enough Korean Won or exchange what you need at the Airport until you reach the city. For info on transportation from Airport to Seoul - watch this video: https://youtu.be/4jbb0jqDnNY 2. Always bring your passport with you. It's required when exchanging money. 3. Forex Rates are different depending on the bills. For example - larger bills like $100s and $50s have better rates compared to $20s and $20s 4. There is an abundance of money exchange places in Seoul so don't worry about running out of cash. 5. We don't commit to just one place, we just walk through the area and scout for the best rate and just pick the lowest. 6. Always count your money in near the counter to avoid disputes. 7. Familiarize yourself with Korean currency even before your trip. It'll help you count and also make purchase transactions faster. 8. In case you don't have or don't want to bring a lot of cash - Seoul is Credit Card friendly so you can easily use it almost everywhere, even at convenience stores. (Although it's always best to have 2 - 3 card options if one terminal doesn't accept your card). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - HOW TO GET TO THE MONEY EXCHANGE AREA IN FRONT OF THE CHINESE EMBASSY 1. Your GPS is your best friend. Use it to the fullest 2. It's the street Across Lotte Young Plaza. Find the Tourist Police Booth and you'll see the small street where Starbucks is at currently. You'll see a lot of Forex Signs there. That's where you want to go. 3. If you're coming from the other side, just look for the KT Myeongdong building. 4. Just look for Myeongdong 2-gil. That's the exact street area, but it's in between two Namdaemun - ro (ro means diverging streets) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Thanks for watching! Virtual Currency Controls

02:01
[Anchor Lead] The boom in Bitcoin and other virtual currencies is potent here in South Korea, which accounts for 20 percent of the world’s virtual cash trade. The South Korean government is taking measures to regulate virtual currency transactions. The first such measure is banning minors from dealing with virtual money. [Pkg] With the virtual currency investment boom spiraling out of control, the government convened an emergency meeting of vice ministers. At the meeting, government officials agreed to ban under aged citizens from opening virtual currency accounts and performing financial transactions using virtual money. The new regulations also prohibit financial institutions from possessing and purchasing virtual currency as well as acquiring mortgages and investing their equities in the form of virtual currency. The government has also decided to enact regulations on how the virtual currency exchange must be operated. Under the new regulations, financial institutions will be mandated to deposit customers' assets separately, verify users' real names, and disclose the amount of virtual currency orders. They will be also obliged to prevent money laundering. The new regulations clearly define what virtual currency exchanges are not allowed to do, which include virtual currency fundraising, credit extension, door-to-door sales, multi-level marketing, and telemarketing. Those who fail to comply will be punished. The government will also consider carefully whether or not to levy taxes on profits from virtual currency investments using examples from other countries. Among the commercial banks, Woori Bank and Korea Development Bank have decided to shut down their virtual accounts, while Shinhan Bank has decided to suspend the opening of additional virtual accounts. Meanwhile, the government's emergency measures had been leaked on the Internet about two hours before the official announcement.

Mid of investor attaching slogan poster to wall 11. Close up of slogans 12. Tilt down from Woori bank to protesters STORYLINE: Dozens of investors in South Korea demonstrated outside the headquarters of Woori bank in Seoul on Friday, angry that their investments had lost value in the global credit crunch. They claim their losses are a result of the bank failing to provide them with enough information on their investments. One 71-year-old investor, Kwon Jeong-ja, said the money she had invested was all she had for her "future life". Another investor, Ko Dae-young, said many investors were experiencing family problems as a result of massive losses incurred by the back. Despite the anger South Korea's banking system received a vote of confidence late on Friday when Standard & Poor's Ratings Services said it had removed five major banks from a watch list for possible downgrade. S&P said that it might lower credit ratings on Kookmin Bank, Woori Bank, Shinhan Bank, Hana Bank and Korea Exchange Bank because their ability to secure foreign currency was being threatened by the global liquidity crisis. S&P said support measures by the South Korean government, which include a 100 (b) billion dollar guarantee plan for domestic banks' foreign currency debt, have "largely mitigated concerns regarding the Korean banks' foreign currency liquidity risk." Major Korean banks cut savings interest rates

00:47
Tucking your money away in a savings account is a low-risk way of building up your nest egg,... but if that's your plan today in Korea,... don't expect a decent yield. Korean banks have recently been lowering interest rates on savings accounts. Woori Bank,... one of Korea's four major banks, has cut its interest rate for time deposits by zero-point-1 percentage point to one-point-9 percent, while Hana Bank has lowered its interest rate for some of its installment savings products to one-point-8 percent. The cuts stem from a low key rate trend and market expectations that it might slide even further as growth slows in the nation.

02:11
Authorities in South Korea will inspect six of the country’s major banks for money laundering as part of an unprecedented probe into cryptocurrency links. As local news media report Sunday, the combined move by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) and the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) aims to decide whether the institutions “carried out their obligations to prevent money laundering in managing virtual accounts.”Woori Bank, Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, NongHyup Bank, Industrial Bank of Korea and Korea Development Bank are due to receive an “extensive probe” which will be complete by Thursday this week.As speculative investments into Bitcoin and altcoins continue to trouble regulators worldwide, Korea has taken a hardline stance in recent months.New legislation will seek to place heavy restrictions on how cryptocurrency exchanges can operate in the country, as well as who can use them and to what extent.South Koreans will likely only be able to hold one exchange account linked to their real name, while tax obligations are also being overhauled regarding profits.Reporting on the inspection, Yonhap News Agency appeared to forecast a predatory climate for exchanges.“They (the FIU and FSS) are seeking to cut off fund inflows into cryptocurrency exchanges and shutter cryptocurrency exchanges that have loopholes in their system,” it claims. What these “loopholes” might entail remains vague, yet the security setup of principal exchanges has come into the spotlight following an organized hacking attempt by a Korean news agency.Using private white-hat hackers, the agency successfully gained entry into exchange accounts it set up maliciously, bypassing even two-factor authentication, it reported last month.

Korea, Iran to maintain Korean-won based settlement account

02:02
한•이란 '원화 계좌' 유지…유로화 결제체계 구축도 모색 Korea is moving to expand financial ties with Iran following a landmark nuclear accord that lifted international sanctions on the oil-rich country. For starters, Seoul and Tehran have agreed to keep a longstanding payment system that's been used since sanctions were imposed... and possibly expand it down the road. Kim Min-ji reports. Korea and Iran will hold on to their Korean-won based payment system. The agreement was reached at a meeting in Tehran over the weekend... between a Korean delegation of officials from the finance and foreign ministries as well as local lenders... and officials from Iran's central bank. In order to facilitate trade between the two countries, Iran has maintained a Korean-won account. It's been in place since 2010, when Korea joined the international community's sanctions on Iran... and dollar settlements became impossible. How does it work? If a Korean refiner needs to pay for oil imports, it sends the money to Iran's central bank in Korean won... and the bank exchanges it for Iranian currency. Similarly, Korean companies get payments in the Korean won. The account currently in place at Woori Bank and the Industrial Bank of Korea is estimated to be worth over 3 trillion won,... or roughly 2-point-5 billion U.S. dollars. The two sides are also mulling the possibility of expanding the system to include other currencies like the euro. However, as such process requires the utilization of the dollar as the medium currency,... the move would need U.S. approval,... as Washington doesn't allow the dollar to be used to settle accounts with Iran. As for earlier reports indicating that Iran might be planning to withdraw its money from the account,... Korean officials say the amount requested by the Iranian side is not large enough to be of concern,... adding they plan to continue their negotiations on adding other currencies to the payment system down the line. FX deposits of residents in Korea jump to record $59.6 bil.

00:39
Foreign currency deposits in Korean banks hit a record high for the second straight month in May. The Bank of Korea said Friday... that foreign exchange deposits of residents in Korea stood at almost 60 billion U.S. dollars as of the end of last month,... up 1-point-2 billion from a month earlier. The central bank attributed the rise to a spike in Chinese yuan deposits... as investors sought the currency out for its higher yield. Residents include local citizens, foreigners and foreign companies... who have stayed in the country for more than six months.

Financial institutions of Korea, China push for direct won-yuan trading

02:05
It looks like financial institutions in Korea and China have started taking necessary steps to create a direct won-yuan trading market -- this is one of the major agreements reached on economic cooperation last week between Presidents Park and Xi. The establishment of this market comes amid an exponential increase in the use of the yuan in global trading and payment. First, here's our Laah Hyun-kyung. One of Korea's biggest financial firms Woori bank is expected to be in charge of promoting sales and marketing for the Korean branch of China's Bank of Communications. The head of the Bank of Communications, which was appointed as the Chinese yuan clearing bank in Seoul just last week,... predicts the amount of transactions settled in yuan by Korean businesses will nearly quadruple to 300-billion yuan, or roughly 48-billion U.S. dollars a year in the near future. Analysts say this falls in line with China's push for increasing the use of renminbi by banks and businesses in international transactions. The Hyundai Research Institute says... China's currency is increasingly preferred to the Japanese yen in global trade,... thanks to its large economic scale and stability. The Korea Institute of Finance also says... as of October last year,... the amount of global trade financing settled in Chinese yuan stood at nearly 9 percent,... outpacing the Euro and the yen... and points out that the rate of the yuan's internationalization is 48 times faster than the yen's in the 1980s. In Korea expectations are high that President Park Geun-hye and Chinese leader Xi Jinping's agreement last week to soon let the two countries' businessmen settle their trade bills in their own currencies... will encourage more direct won-yuan trading. However, some experts also warn the growing presence of the yuan will deepen Seoul's economic dependence on Beijing... though, it could help ease pressure on the Korean won's appreciation against the dollar. KB Vision - The World's First Private Global Currency Exchange System.

01:11
http://kbvisiondirect.com The history of currency indicates that the greatest danger to the value of money is the State. This danger is particularly evident in state controlled paper money systems, in which money can be printed in arbitrary amounts and placed into circulation at any given time. In 1971 the ability to exchange currency into gold was removed by government decree and ever since then, money has been printed by central banks unsupported by any means except by that of credit. There have been no reserves to support the amount of money in circulation. Paper money which is printed and distributed in this manner is prone to inflation and may result in one economic or financial crisis after the other. Attempts to soften such economic downturns by means of unsubstantiated credit have visibly resulted in the worsening of the situation. As levels of debt from the private sector and States continue to grow, this creates a situation of debt overload, whereby the printing of excessive paper money is considered the lesser of two evils. Ultimately, this will lead to hyperinflation. On some occasion, the public perceives such economic crises bolstered by government assisted funds as failure of the free market system. Implementations of economic restraints coupled with restrictions to civil liberties are seen to be the solutions. This is a misguided path. It has become evident that the return to 'good money' is in order: the production of money which is in accordance to market forces. Money that is supported and supplied according to demand in a free enterprise system. Friedrich August von Hayek (1899-1992) has proven that the 'competition of currencies' will create money of a quality unmatched by the State. In a market based money system, paper money should not be absolute and the public should be allowed to choose what forms of exchange they wish to use. Precious metals such as gold and silver are the best means for assuming this function since availability of these metals are determined by supply. If the market was permitted to flow naturally, a freely chosen gold standard would re-emerge. What is required for such a system to work is constitutional recognition of the freedom and rights or every individual. The State does not seem to have given this much consideration. If central banks were restricted, arbitrary manipulations of money and interest rates resulting in substantial macro-economic damage would come to an end. In a market based money system, fluctuations of the economic cycle are much smaller because the system counteracts failed investments. With The State's ability to intervene reduced the restrictions of freedom and prosperity which contribute to the creation of monetary planned economies will be defused. Gold in small denominations is the first step in the right direction. By offering an alternative to paper currency, freedom of choice is restored back into a system. Our vision is to reach the masses and establish ourselves on the worldwide markets -- the road to freedom, independence, and prosperity for all. South Korean Banks Drop Crypto Accounts as Government Plans a BanSouth Korean regulators have announced a plan to ban banks from activities involving cryptocurrencies, prompting major banks in the country to declare they will no longer issue accounts required for crypto trading. South Korea’s top bitcoin exchanges are all effected, including Bithumb, Coinone, and Korbit. Banks that have made announcements include Shinhan Bank, Korea Development Bank, and Industrial Bank of Korea. On Wednesday, local publications reported that the regulators are planning to ban banks from activities involving cryptocurrencies. According to :The Prime Minister’s Office said Seoul would ban financial institutions from dealing in virtual currencies – including buying, possessing, or holding them as collateral. In addition, Korea Heraldthat “banks in Korea that provide virtual bank accounts for cryptocurrency trades will have to verify the identification of account holders when creating new ones," according to the plan. Furthermore, the regulators plan to  minors and foreigners from both trading in cryptocurrency and creating bank accounts in the country. Virtual bank accounts are issued by traditional banks for customers of cryptocurrency exchanges. A customer wanting to start trading at a crypto exchange must first open a virtual bank account and deposit money into it. All major Korean exchanges, including the country's largest bitcoin exchange Bithumb, require customers to open virtual bank accounts before trading. The Kyunghyang Shinmun described:Virtual currency can be traded only after joining a virtual currency exchange and depositing money in a virtual account assigned to the exchange.Banks Ditching Crypto Accounts Wednesday's announcement marks the first time the regulators have applied restrictions on virtual bank accounts. The country's major state-run and commercial banks immediately responded by announcing that they will stop issuing new virtual bank accounts for cryptocurrency exchanges. Some are even canceling existing accounts, Arirang News reported, adding that:Such measures will effectively freeze most traders out of the cryptocurrency market as the country's leading virtual currency exchanges such as Bithumb and Coinone require users to create a virtual account before they can conduct any transactions. If a bank closes an exchange's virtual bank accounts, then “it is fundamentally impossible to sell and buy virtual currencies through the bank,” Business Korea noted.
