Where to Find Investment Ideas (part 2) - Curreen Capital

05:30
Find out where value investor Christian Ryther looks to find the best stocks, including spinoffs, odd lot tender offers, and more. Part two of six videos from a presentation to NYC-based investors from the Corner of Berkshire and Fairfax. Filmed on September 19, 2015. --------------------- At Curreen Capital, we are passionate about making smart long-term investments to make you more money. Since the fund was launched in June 2013, investors have seen their investment grow significantly - easily outpacing both the S&P 500 and MSCI World indexes. We consider these two indices to be great investment options for long-term investors, so any stock investment fund must be able to beat them over time. Curreen Capital's performance continues to demonstrate that our investment strategy is sound and delivers real results for investors. --Curreen Capital Investment Strategy-- We are a concentrated global small cap value fund in the Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Joel Greenblat tradition, and our investments meet three key criteria: 1) Excellent businesses 2) Exceptional management 3) Undervalued securities. Our fund invests in 5-15 positions which meet all three criteria, and we hold cash when we cannot identify investments that meet our criteria. Christian Ryther founded Curreen Capital Management in June 2013. Previously, he was the sole analyst at NeuStrada Capital, a $250m fund affiliated with Farallon Capital Management from 2010 to 2013. From 2008 to 2010, he served as an analyst at Principled Capital Management, also a Farallon-affiliated fund. http://www.curreencapital.com twitter: @curreencr ------------- Go Cart (Electronic Medium) by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/) Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1300006 Artist: http://incompetech.com/

http://www.evancarmichael.com/support/ - SUPPORT ME :) Like this video? Please give it a thumbs up below and/or leave a comment - Thank you!!! In this video I answer a question from one my readers who asked: "Hello Evan, I am Tomal Dass from India. I always love to read all your articles about business and entrepreneurial leadership. It always fills me with new energy. It helps me a lot to learn a lot from the experiences of well known businessmen arround the world. Recently I was working in a partnership in event management business, We were new in the market and we didn't have any capital to rotate in Business. We were working to start a music festival in Central India. I belong to the city named Indore. It is the business capital of India and I figured out that there is a great scope in this region for a musical festival as there is no competition in this sector. We tried to go for sponsorship for bigger companies who's products are related to youth, as musical festival is related to youth. We were unable to generate any fund out of that. I thought may be we were new to this market that is why companies were not sponsoring us. Then we went for local businessmen for sponsorships and this one also didn't worked. So finally I planned for doing something off the grid. I planned to take a loan of 20% money for the event and ask any bigger Business firm to give their names for the sponsorships for free so that other business firms would also sponsor us. Then I dropped that idea because i didn't know that it's ethically right or not and will it work or not. Please guide me with this if you can. I would learn more from your articles. Regards, Tomal"

In financial accounting, operating cash flow (OCF), cash flow provided by operations, cash flow from operating activities (CFO) or free cash flow from operations (FCFO), refers to the amount of cash a company generates from the revenues it brings in, excluding costs associated with long-term investment on capital items or investment in securities.[1] The International Financial Reporting Standards defines operating cash flow as cash generated from operations less taxation and interest paid, investment income received and less dividends paid gives rise to operating cash flows.[2] To calculate cash generated from operations, one must calculate cash generated from customers and cash paid to suppliers. The difference between the two reflects cash generated from operations.

How to Calculate Net Present Value

16:01
Subscribe to Alanis Business Academy on YouTube for updates on the latest videos: https://www.youtube.com/alanisbusinessacademy?sub_confirmation=1 Net Present Value, commonly referred to as NPV, is a capital budgeting tool used in corporate finance and is designed to help firms assess the financial feasibility of various capital expenditures. Based largely on the time value of money, NPV compares the value of the initial investment to the cash flow generated over a number of years. An NPV greater than 0 supports the acceptance of the project, while an NPV less than 0 supports the rejection of the project. Over the course of this video we'll walk through how to calculate NPV using the present value formula. Although the process is rather simple once you understand the basics, calculating NPV can be rather time consuming. To ensure accuracy make sure that you are organized when writing out your calculations as one number can certainly affect your results.

HUBZone Designation? What is it? How will it affect you? John Wayne Explains. Welcome to SBA’s training module, “Understanding HUBZone Designations.” This module is the first, in a series of mini-primers about the HUBZone program. NOTE: This supplemental workbook tracks the slides and narrative contained in SBA’s online Mini-Primer, Understanding HUBZone Designations. Introduction HUBZone Mini-Primer --- Designations • HUBZone program is designed to help small firms in certain communities gain access to federal contract opportunities • Mini-primer is designed to help firms understand what HUBZone designations are, how they are determined, where they are located and how to find them The HUBZone program is designed to help small businesses -- in certain urban, rural, BRAC, Indian reservation, and difficult development areas outside the U.S. mainland – to gain access to federal procurement opportunities. HUBZone areas or HUBZone designations are typically areas of low median household incomes or high unemployment, or both. This mini-primer is about helping firms to better understand what HUBZone designations are, how they are determined, where they are located and how to find them. Program Purpose • Provides federal contracting assistance to qualified small firms in designated HUBZones to: – Increase employment opportunities – Stimulate capital investment – Empower communities through economic leveraging HUBZone Mini-Primer --- Designations But first, and importantly, the HUBZone program has one purpose: to help small businesses in both urban and rural communities. It provides federal contracting assistance to qualified small firms located in historically underutilized business zones -- or HUBZones -- to increase employment opportunities, stimulate capital investment in those areas, and empower communities through economic leveraging. What is a HUBZone Designation? • Geographical location designated by the SBA as an area that is and has been historically underutilized by businesses HUBZone Mini-Primer --- Designations So, what is a HUBZone designation? It is a geographical location identified and designated by the SBA as an area that is and has been historically underutilized by businesses. Determining HUBZone Designations – SBA’s Role • SBA uses information obtained from several agencies • The way SBA uses this data to indicate HUBZones is determined by law • SBA does not have the authority to decide that a particular area should be a HUBZone or not HUBZone Mini-Primer --- Designations SBA uses information and data from multiple federal sources to determine HUBZone designated status. Such federal agencies include the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Defense, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Bureau of Indian Affairs and the U.S. Census Bureau. The way SBA uses this data to determine HUBZone areas is established by law. The agency does not have the authority to decide, without supporting data that a particular area should or should not be a designated HUBZone. This is an important distinction. How Do You Find HUBZone Designated Areas? HUBZone Mini-Primer --- Designations How do you find a HUBZone designated area or determine if a location is in a HUBZone? SBA has created an electronic tool – HUBZone Maps - where you can insert the address and zip code of a specific location (or its coordinates) to determine if that location is in a HUBZone. At you convenience, return to this slide or the resource section at the end of the course and use the hyperlink to access the HUBZone Maps, page. This page will help you determine if your business location and employees are located within a HUBZone area. You can access the interactive maps from this page, but be sure to check the notice on the landing page for areas that have not been incorporated into the map yet. Types of HUBZone Designations • There are four types of HUBZone designations:  Qualified Census Tract  Qualified Nonmetropolitan County  Qualified Indian Reservation  Qualified Base Closure Area HUBZone Mini-Primer --- Designations There are four types of HUBZone designations. They are: qualified census tract; qualified county; qualified Indian reservation; and, qualified base closure area. The Stock Market Explained Simply: Finance and Investing Basics - Animated Film (1957)

10:20
The New York Stock Exchange (sometimes referred to as "the Big Board") provides a means for buyers and sellers to trade shares of stock in companies registered for public trading. The NYSE is open for trading Monday through Friday from 9:30 am -- 4:00 pm ET, with the exception of holidays declared by the Exchange in advance. The NYSE trades in a continuous auction format, where traders can execute stock transactions on behalf of investors. They will gather around the appropriate post where a specialist broker, who is employed by an NYSE member firm (that is, he/she is not an employee of the New York Stock Exchange), acts as an auctioneer in an open outcry auction market environment to bring buyers and sellers together and to manage the actual auction. They do on occasion (approximately 10% of the time) facilitate the trades by committing their own capital and as a matter of course disseminate information to the crowd that helps to bring buyers and sellers together. The auction process moved toward automation in 1995 through the use of wireless hand held computers (HHC). The system enabled traders to receive and execute orders electronically via wireless transmission. On September 25, 1995, NYSE member Michael Einersen, who designed and developed this system, executed 1000 shares of IBM through this HHC ending a 203 year process of paper transactions and ushering in an era of automated trading. As of January 24, 2007, all NYSE stocks can be traded via its electronic hybrid market (except for a small group of very high-priced stocks). Customers can now send orders for immediate electronic execution, or route orders to the floor for trade in the auction market. In the first three months of 2007, in excess of 82% of all order volume was delivered to the floor electronically.[23] NYSE works with US regulators like the SEC and CFTC to coordinate risk management measures in the electronic trading environment through the implementation of mechanisms like circuit breakers and liquidity replenishment points.[24] Until 2005, the right to directly trade shares on the exchange was conferred upon owners of the 1366 "seats". The term comes from the fact that up until the 1870s NYSE members sat in chairs to trade. In 1868, the number of seats was fixed at 533, and this number was increased several times over the years. In 1953, the number of seats was set at 1,366. These seats were a sought-after commodity as they conferred the ability to directly trade stock on the NYSE, and seat holders were commonly referred to as members of the NYSE. The Barnes family is the only known lineage to have five generations of NYSE members: Winthrop H. Barnes (admitted 1894), Richard W.P. Barnes (admitted 1926), Richard S. Barnes (admitted 1951), Robert H. Barnes (admitted 1972), Derek J. Barnes (admitted 2003). Seat prices varied widely over the years, generally falling during recessions and rising during economic expansions. The most expensive inflation-adjusted seat was sold in 1929 for $625,000, which, today, would be over six million dollars. In recent times, seats have sold for as high as $4 million in the late 1990s and as low as $1 million in 2001. In 2005, seat prices shot up to $3.25 million as the exchange entered into an agreement to merge with Archipelago and become a for-profit, publicly traded company. Seat owners received $500,000 in cash per seat and 77,000 shares of the newly formed corporation. The NYSE now sells one-year licenses to trade directly on the exchange. Licences for floor trading are available for $40,000 and a licence for bond trading is available for as little as $1,000 as of 2010.[25] Neither are resell-able, but may be transferable in during the change of ownership of a cooperation holding a trading licence. On February 15, 2011 NYSE and Deutsche Börse announced their merger to form a new company, as yet unnamed, wherein Deutsche Börse shareholders will have 60% ownership of the new entity, and NYSE Euronext shareholders will have 40%. On February 1, 2012, the European Commission blocked the merger of NYSE with Deutsche Börse, after commissioner Joaquin Almunia stated that the merger "would have led to a near-monopoly in European financial derivatives worldwide".[38] Instead, Deutsche Börse and NYSE will have to sell either their Eurex derivatives or LIFFE shares in order to not create a monopoly. On February 2, 2012, NYSE Euronext and Deutsche Börse agreed to scrap the merger.[39] In April 2011, IntercontinentalExchange (ICE), an American futures exchange, and NASDAQ OMX Group had together made an unsolicited proposal to buy NYSE Euronext for approximately US$11 billion, a deal in which NASDAQ would have taken control of the stock exchanges.[40] NYSE Euronext rejected this offer two times, but it was finally terminated after the United States Department of Justice indicated their intention to block the deal due to antitrust concerns. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Stock_Exchange

How To Pitch To Investors In Under 2 Minutes

26:51
Check out my eCourses with worksheets here: https://nathangold.teachable.com/ This video will show you how to pitch to investors in under 2 minutes without the aid of any slides. More videos and coaching are available here: http://www.nathangold.com/ When you are given the opportunity to pitch your company and all you have is a microphone and a panel of investors waiting for you to pitch, you need to be well scripted and rehearsed for the performance. Without a script indelibly inscribed in your brain, you will usually run over on time, not cover everything you wanted to talk about, or worse, completely lose your way. This cannot and should not be an extemporaneous talk where you condense your 10 minute presentation into 2 minutes. The real purpose of the 2 minute pitch is to convince an investor to ask you questions that will ultimately lead to one of two outcomes. Either they will like you enough to continue talking with you or they can become a resource for you to leverage at some time in the future. Recently, at the VCTaskforce in Palo Alto, California, 10 companies were given 2 minutes to pitch to a panel of angel investors. These were who's who in Silicon Valley, such as Tom Cervantez co-founder of the Harvard Angels, Raffy Chatav from Silicom Ventures, John Ryan from Band of Angels, and Paul Twombly from Keiretsu Forum. You should see what these people give as feedback to people who obviously have not really prepared for the event. Speaking of preparing, that is exactly what this video is all about. You will learn how to have a great opening that will capture the attention of the listener. Following that, you'll be able to clearly articulate the value of your business by answering 6 questions on the minds of your investors. After watching this video, you will clearly understand and know how NOT to sound the S.A.M.E. as other presenters. And, you'll be able to effectively use the Columbo Close, a powerful attention-getting tool, as the last words the investor will hear from you. The information contained in this video is the result of the last 6 years of delivering workshops and coaching real people who are raising capital. It's the same information I give out in the first coaching session along with an important homework assignment. This is not a sales presentation to get you to hire me. This video contains only "solid nourishment" and no "empty calories" to waste your time or money. Here are a few who used this approach: -Glue Networks raised $4.5 million from Angels -Education.com raised $9.2 million Series B -Sim Ops Studios raised $3 million Series A -Abulla received 6 calls from VC's after a 7 minute presentation -Zazingo went into due diligence after their first meeting with a VC

Venture Giants Review: Success Story £100k startup funding raised and Venture Giants Endorsement

07:06
A startup looking for investors listed their investment proposal on Venture Giants https://www.venturegiants.com/ and an investor made contact and funded his proposal with £100,00 of Angel Investment. The entrepreneurs also provided a Venture Giants Endorsement. This video is a recording of the phone conversation and phone interview. The premise of the idea was to develop a base and mobile application platform which would allow customers to search compare and book any service they may need at home. The Entrepreneur was looking to raise £250,000 and the investor that contacted him on the Venture Giants platform agreed to invest £100,000 including mobile app development, marketing and mentorship - all included. Why did the entrepreneur choose Venture Giants over Crowd Funding? I was doing online research and looking at the different options - saw an article that mentioned Venture Giants particularly, there was a lot of positive press and feedback about VGS. I had a look on the website - everything was very clearly laid out, and explained very well. It was a very simple and easy process to follow, and that was the main appeal. Fantastic dealing with their entrepreneur team - I had no complaints. I particularly liked that once I had created my proposal, there was a lot of communication in regards to who my proposal was seen by and it was a very positive experience. What was it like dealing with the Angel investors that contacted him from from Venture Giants? Fantastic - proposal put out in the evening, the next morning the current investor approached me. Being able to communicate directly on the platform, we set up Skype interviews and face to face meetings. It has been plain-sailing.

Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) regulations are part of the upcoming Basel IV set of reforms and create specific capital-reserve requirements for bank trading desks based on investment-risk models. The new regulations require banks to reserve sufficient capital to maintain solvency through market downturns and avoid the need for governmental bailouts. Banks are using FRTB mandates as an opportunity to build a firm foundation for future risk management and compliance applications that lowers development and staffing expenses, optimizes reserve ratios, maximizes available capital and drives investment profits.

Investor Abandonment Clause on Venture Debt

00:53
Accounting, Bookkeeping, Finance, HR and Tax for Startups. Video Transcript: Today we're talking about investor abandonment and venture debt term sheets. The Investor Abandonment Clause is used primarily by banks, and what banks are looking for because they're loaning money to really risky startups is that they want to have a little bit of leverage over the company. The investor abandonment allows the bank to be able to call the investors and say, "Hey, are you going to put more money in the company?" If the investors decline, that triggers the Investor Abandonment Clause, which then puts the company ... the startup in default. Once you're in default, you have to play by the bank's rules either to sell the company, raise more money, do whatever the bank wants. Therefore, we at Kruze Consulting are really careful about Investor Abandonment Clauses and actually recommend clients negotiate that out of their term sheet. I hope that helps. Thanks!
