Web Server: Enable Directory Listing / Directory Browsing with .htaccess & create files with no name
Web Servers hide the contents of folders by default. If there’s no index.html or index.php file, it will show a "403 Forbidden" error. That means that the folder exists, but you don’t have access to it. Different from a "404 Not Found" error, meaning no such folder exists. If you want to see the files inside all folders, you need to put this .htaccess file in the directory you want to enable Download htaccess zip http://www.mediafire.com/download/qm398c6l99xl8o8/htaccess+File+Inside.zip UnZip it and it should work. (This is if you’re having trouble creating files with no name, only an extension) ➤Create .htaccess file -Open notepad (or other text editor) -Save a blank file called ".htaccess" (no filename just an extension) -Make sure you change the "Save as Type" dropdown from "Text Document *.txt" to "All files" -Use ftp software to copy the .htaccess file to your web server -You might need to "Show hidden files" in order to see it ➤Configuring htaccess ➨"Options +Indexes" -Adding this enables the list of files in the folder -Capitalization doesn’t matter -You can comment out lines with a hashtag/number sign (#) ➨"IndexOptions FancyIndexing" -This changes the display ➨"Options -Indexes" -this hides the listings. Add a new .htaccess file in a subfolder to disable directory listing in that folder and keep it active in the containing folder ➨"DirectoryIndex 1.txt" -This sets the default page to load instead of index.html or index.php (as long as 1.txt exists) ➨"IndexIgnore *.txt *.doc" -This excludes any files with the extension txt & doc from the list -They’re still accessible by direct URL, but just won’t show up if directory listing is enabled More Detailed video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsaaVCB55dQ

Google Chrome Extention IE TAB for CCTV DVR, NVR, IP Camera
Video Topic: how to open DVR,IP Camera, NVR in Chrome which is not supporting Activex file as it has removed NPAPI Extention now days. Chrome latest versions are not supporting NPAPI Extentions which is helps to open activex files and run the DVR, IP Camera and NVR in Chrome. IE TAB Details:- IE Tab exactly emulates IE by using the IE rendering engine directly within Chrome. This will enable you to use ActiveX controls and test your web pages with different versions of IE (IE6, IE7, IE8, or IE9). 1. Why do I have to install ietabhelper.exe? IE Tab uses the Internet Explorer rendering engine. This rendering engine can't be directly accessed from a Chrome extension, so we need a helper process to talk between the Chrome extension and the rendering engine. 2. Did IE Tab always require this extra program? No. Chrome used to support a technology called NPAPI (the Netscape Plugin API) which allowed extensions to access local computer resources. IE Tab used to use that functionality to access the Internet Explorer rendering engine. But Chrome removed NPAPI support, so we were forced to implement a new solution, and that solution requires a separate helper executable. From a technical standpoint, the only real change is that our code moved from an NPAPI .DLL file to a helper .EXE file. 3. Is the IE Tab Helper application safe? Absolutely! IE Tab has always used native code, and we have always treated the security of our 2+ million users very seriously. So you can rest assured that this helper executable is secure and trustworthy. Accessible navigation on the web
A quick demo showing how use of ARIA framework can improve accessibility on the web, particularly using screen reader software. This demo created with ChromeVox screen reader for Google Chrome browser http://www.chromevox.com/ Here are three navigation menus, built of HTML lists: - The first one is pure HTML list without any additional attributes. - The second one is the same list, but every its item is filled with semantic meaning using ARIA roles, properties and states. - The third list differs from second one with using semantic HTML5 `nav` element, which is intended to act as a navigation section. But the menu itself won't act as a navigation menu without ARIA roles. So it is still required to cover all sub-menus and menu items with ARIA roles. Product Design: How To Balance Accessibility And Interactivity Across Devices
In the last two episodes of Build we tackled why accessibility needs to be prioritized in product design (https://youtu.be/tk0AIuR75Mk) and the three key tips that are critical and will make a big impact on your product's adoption (https://youtu.be/S380eI6oJkQ). This week we’re going to answer two questions that inspired this series from one of our audience members Jane, we chose these two because we figured they might also be on your mind! Jane wrote: Poornima, Thanks for tackling a wide variety of topics when it comes to building software products. One area that I'm curious about is accessibility. As a user experience designer, I know accessibility is important, but I've struggled when it comes to balancing out accessibility across devices and also making mobile apps interactive and fun without compromising on accessibility. How should I go about thinking about web versus mobile and balancing out fun and engaging interactions with accessibility in mobile apps? Sincerely, Jane Jane thank you for writing in! Laura Allen who is the Accessibility Program Manager at Google for Chrome and the Chrome operating system is back and together we are going to be answering Jane’s questions in today’s episode. As you watch today’s episode you’ll learn: - What are the similarities and differences when it comes to designing for accessibility on web versus mobile devices - How to balance balance out fun and engaging interactions versus accessibility on mobile devices - The various types of accessibility testing: manual versus automated and tradeoffs associated with both Here are some additional resources to checkout that Laura mentioned in the video: - Web Content Accessibility Guidelines: https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/ - Android Developers SIte: https://developer.android.com/index.html - iOS Human Interface Guidelines: https://developer.apple.com/ios/human-interface-guidelines/overview/themes/ - Android Accessibility Scanner: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.apps.accessibility.auditor&hl=en - Lighthouse: https://developers.google.com/web/tools/lighthouse/ -- Build is produced as a partnership between Femgineer (http://femgineer.com/) and Pivotal Tracker (https://www.pivotaltracker.com/). The headless browser revolution has arrived! Headless browsers are powerful tools that all developers can adopt in their workflow. This session will showcase examples of the amazing things that Chrome can do without a UI: write programs to control the browser; test a site; automate UI tasks; integrate into a CI system; setup A/B perf monitoring; prerender a client-side app for SEO; and more. The focus will be on using Puppeteer, Google's Node library for controlling headless Chrome. 03. Google Chrome: Settings Page
Click link to view the Google Apps for Education Resource Guide -- https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B-gcHi1qVpScfnY2dU91OFhjZG84d3E5dkU2MElqR185SmxTRWtuNHhBczNBWTZtODQ1aFE&usp=sharing This video is devoted to teaching Chrome and GAFE users how to optimize their settings for use in an educational environment. Lessons within this video instruct you how to get to the settings page and select options for establishing home pages, voice recognition, text size, language preferences, translation functions, and download defaults. Taking the time to learn and customize your settings will provide you with a more personalized web-browsing experience. Please click on the picture link below to watch the video tutorial on Chrome settings. According to Robertson (2013), Google Apps for Education (GAFE) is a beneficial tool for teachers because it allows them to reflect on pedagogical practices and disseminate information to other educators more efficiently than other cloud computing environments. Since Chrome is a web browser designed by Google to utilize the full functionality within each of its’ applications, Chrome serves as the gateway tool for using GAFE. To put it plainly, giving an organization GAFE without installing Chrome as the default browser is like giving somebody a car but not giving them the keys to drive it. Although Chrome is a web browser by definition, for the purposes of GAFE, it may help to view this as a web-based operating system for your computer or netbook. Although Chrome is not technically one of the applications within GAFE, it’s use is imperative if your desire is to employ Google Apps on the individual or organizational level. The purpose of the following tutorials is to provide foundational knowledge about Google Chrome so that all educators and students using this resource guide will have the experience required to operate GAFE. If you are new to Google Apps or you have never used Google Chrome as a web browser, please watch the following videos starting from the beginning. If you are already experienced with Chrome, you may want to skip down to the later videos to learn about changing settings, installing extensions to your browser, and the advanced functions of Chrome.

Cite-D-Lite: Chrome Extension for Data and Paper Citations with Text Importance Highlighting
This presentation by Esther Chen describes her summer research project with the BD2K-LINCS DCIC in the Ma'ayan Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. http://lincs-dcic.org/#/summer-research-app#nav http://icahn.mssm.edu/labs/maayan https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/cite-d-lite/ipiffhgeigmiffclkpkgdaklbdgdegkk Abstract Electronic publication of research studies has drastically improved the ability for data sharing within the scientific community. However, citation methods for data have not yet been fully developed and standardized compared with other forms of research publications. Several efforts have attempted to establish guidelines for data citation. With a similar goal, the purpose of Cite-D-Lite is to encourage and facilitate data citation, as well as to provide mechanisms to visually identify key sentences in PubMed abstracts. Developed with JavaScript as a web browser Google Chrome extension, Cite-D-Lite version 1.0 gathers available information relevant to the citation of data on public repositories, such as the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), and generates downloadable files (.ris, .bib, and .enw) compatible with various reference managers with a single mouse click. In particular, Cite-D-Lite focuses primarily on datasets, series, and samples available and accessible from GEO and DataMed, a newly developed resource that indexes datasets in a way similar to how PubMed indexes publications. Cite-D-Lite also features text-importance graded-highlighting on PubMed abstracts as determined by the TextRank algorithm. The result is a simple-to-use browser extension that broadens and enhances the user’s overall interaction and experience with GEO, PubMed, and DataMed. Future development may include expansion to other data and publication repositories to parallel the growing interrelationship between traditional text-based publications and publication of scientific data.
