Tutorial: Change OS Names in the Windows Vista/7/8 Boot Manager (Boot Menu)

02:31
In this video, I show you how to change your OS name (or description) in the Windows Vista, 7 or 8 Boot Manager (boot menu) if you're on a multi-boot system. Sometimes you may have to have more than one OS on your machine, and you can't differentiate the two if they're the same version of Windows. In my case, I have problems running GTA IV in Windows 7 64-bit,, so I have the 32-bit version of Windows on a small partition dedicated to games. Here are the instructions on how to do this for those who don't want to watch the video: 1. Click the Start button and type 'cmd' (Without the quotes), right click it and select "Run As Administrator" (In Windows 8 you'll have to go to your Start screen instead of the Start Menu). 2. Once you have an Administrator Command Prompt window open, type the following command: bcdedit /set description "insert what you want the OS to be called here" That's it, now reboot to see the changes. Note that you have to boot into the installation that you want to rename, so make sure you choose the right one. I hope you enjoy the video, and feel free to leave a comment if you have one.

How To Change Boot Order In Computer BIOS [For Beginners]

02:54
This tutorial demonstrates how to launch the built-in BIOS utility to change the boot order of your devices on your computer. If you are looking to set the primary boot device to a usb flash drive/stick or CD/DVD follow these steps. If you ever want to change these settings back, you can do so following the keyboard shortcuts located in the BIOS. Remember to always save your changes before closing out of the utility. To boot from a CD, DVD or USB device, make sure that the device has boot sequence priority over the hard drive. BIOS (Basic Input Output Subsystem) is a programmable chip that controls how information is passed to various devices in the computer system. A typical method to access the BIOS settings screen is to press ESC, F1, F2, F8 or F10 during the boot sequence. BIOS settings allow you to run a boot sequence from a floppy drive, a hard drive, a CD-ROM drive or an external device. You may configure the order that your computer searches these physical devices for the boot sequence. The first device in the order list has the first boot priority. For example, to boot from a CD-ROM drive instead of a hard drive, place the CD-ROM drive ahead of the hard drive in priority. Before you set boot priority for a USB device, plug the device into a USB port. To specify the boot sequence: 1. Start the computer and press ESC, F1, F2, F8 or F10 during the initial startup screen. Depending on the BIOS manufacturer, a menu may appear. 2. Choose to enter BIOS setup. The BIOS setup utility page appears. 3. Use the arrow keys to select the BOOT tab. System devices appear in order of priority. 4. To give a CD or DVD drive boot sequence priority over the hard drive, move it to the first position in the list. 5. To give a USB device boot sequence priority over the hard drive, do the following: Move the hard drive device to the top of the boot sequence list. Expand the hard drive device to display all hard drives. Move the USB device to the top of the list of hard drives. Save and exit the BIOS setup utility. 6. The computer will restart with the changed settings. 7. Boot Priority Options Some computer manufacturers allow you to select the device that contains the boot sequence from a special device selection menu. The example below uses a Dell system board. To set boot priority using a device selection menu: 1.When the computer starts to boot up, after the manufacturer's ID screen, press F12 several times. The device selection menu appears. 2. Use the up and down arrows to select CD-ROM or an USB Flash Drive. 3. To boot from the selected device, press ENTER. Note: Using an incorrect BIOS setting can cause a system malfunction. Please follow the BIOS guide provided with your computer motherboard. If you read these instructions and you are not sure how to change a setting, it is better to leave it as the default setting. This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 10, Windows 8/8.1, Windows 7 operating systems.Works for all major computer manufactures (Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Samsung).

This sequence is determined within the BIOS settings of your PC. It's best to leave that as default in order to keep the start time to a minimum. If you want to start your PC from DVD or USB to for example install Windows, then you can access the boot menu. Install Windows 10 from USB (using ISO-file): https://youtu.be/cFCys-Hgl1c

This first solution is on the hardware side, so the first thing you want to do it to check that your C drive or the disk drive where you have your operating system, is properly attached to the connector on your computer. 2. The second solution is for situation where certain application or malware changes the path variables on your boot manger, hence making it unable to locate your Windows boot files during startup. Tutorial: Enable the Windows Vista/7 Boot Loader in Windows 8

03:07
This is my first tutorial that I've done since 2011, so please tell me how I did. I put a little more effort into the video than I usually would. But anyways, this is a tutorial on how to change the boot loader in Windows 8 to the older style one used in previous versions of Windows. The older one is easier to use in my opinion, and lets you choose what to boot first, rather than booting Windows 8 first and then rebooting if you want to choose a different OS, like the new one does. Here's how to do it. 1. Go to the Start screen and type 'cmd' (without the quotes) 2. Right click the Command Prompt and click "Run as Administrator" 3. In the Administrator Command Prompt, enter the following commend: 'bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy' (without the quotes) 4. Press Enter. It should say that it's completed successfully. Now restart the machine, you should now see the older style boot loader instead of the horrible Windows 8 style one. I hope you enjoyed this video, thanks for watching.

Improve Windows 7,8.1,10 Boot up Speed-Secret Settings MSConfig

07:10
Hi today in this Video I will Show you how to access Secret Windows Settings Using msconfig Command Now Les have some discussion on msconfig MSConfig (officially called System Configuration in Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 10 Microsoft System Configuration Utility in previous operating systems) is a system utility to troubleshoot the Microsoft Windows startup process. It can disable or re-enable software, device drivers and Windows services that run at startup, or change boot parameters. It is bundled with all versions of Microsoft Windows operating systems since Windows 98 except Windows 2000. Windows 95 and Windows 2000 users can download the utility as well, although it was not designed for them MSConfig is a troubleshooting tool which is used to temporarily disable or re-enable software, device drivers or Windows services that run during startup process to help the user determine the cause of a problem with Windows. Some of its functionality varies by Windows versions:[3] In Windows 98 and Windows Me, it can configure advanced troubleshooting settings pertaining to these operating systems. It can also launch common system tools. In Windows 98, it can back up and restore startup files. In Windows Me, it has also been updated with three new tabs called "Static VxDs", "Environment" and "International". The Static VxDs tab allows users to enable or disable static virtual device drivers to be loaded at startup, the Environment tab allows users to enable or disable environment variables, and the International tab allows users to set international language keyboard layout settings that were formerly set via the real-mode MS-DOS configuration files. A "Cleanup" button on the "Startup" tab allows cleaning up invalid or deleted startup entries. In Windows Me and Windows XP versions, it can restore an individual file from the original Windows installation set. On Windows NT-based operating systems prior to Windows Vista, it can set various BOOT.INI switches. In Windows XP and Windows Vista, it can hide all operating system services for troubleshooting. In Windows Vista and later, the tool gained additional support for launching a variety of tools, such as system information, other configuration areas, such as Internet options, and the ability to enable/disable UAC.[4] An update is available for Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 that adds the Tools tab.[5] It also allows configuring various switches for Windows Boot Manager and Boot Configuration Data.
