Performance analysis on financial software is massively complex and challenging. This is the story of how Murex started to use Splunk to help debug performance code issues. Before Splunk we had millions and millions of timings logs, the problem was displaying them quickly so they are usable for developers and testers. Up to this point, we were using a basic PDF report with graphs with static mathematics. However, when we were able to dynamically graph this data with Splunk the analysis became much quicker and easier. The turnaround time decreased for resolution for testing and development. In addition to this we developed multiple functions in the dashboard to enhance the usability. A developer could attach their environment to Splunk in 20 seconds for live monitoring, they could save a test as a URL to share with colleagues. The in-kernel Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) has been enhanced in recent kernels to do much more than just filtering packets. It can now run user-defined programs on events, such as on tracepoints, kprobes, uprobes, and perf_events, allowing advanced performance analysis tools to be created. These can be used in production as the BPF virtual machine is sandboxed and will reject unsafe code, and are already in use at Netflix. Beginning with the bpf() syscall in 3.18, enhancements have been added in many kernel versions since, with major features for BPF analysis landing in Linux 4.1, 4.4, 4.7, and 4.9. Specific capabilities these provide include custom in-kernel summaries of metrics, custom latency measurements, and frequency counting kernel and user stack traces on events. One interesting case involves saving stack traces on wake up events, and associating them with the blocked stack trace: so that we can see the blocking stack trace and the waker together, merged in kernel by a BPF program (that particular example is in the kernel as samples/bpf/offwaketime). This talk will discuss the new BPF capabilities for performance analysis and debugging, and demonstrate the new open source tools that have been developed to use it, many of which are in the Linux Foundation iovisor bcc (BPF Compiler Collection) project. In this talk I will present two ongoing research projects: First, I will discuss a simple and scalable static analysis for resource bound and amortized complexity analysis. Our analysis is solely based on the abstract program model of lossy vector addition systems and does not require general purpose reasoners such as abstract interpreters, software model checkers or computer algebra tools. We experimentally demonstrate on a recent bound analysis benchmark that our analysis is nevertheless able to compute more loop bounds in less time than several state-of-the-art tools from the literature. Second, I will speak about feedback generation for performance problems in introductory programming assignments. Studying a large number of functionally correct student solutions we have observed only a small number of different algorithmic strategies, which, however, can be implemented in numerous different ways. I will present a light-weight programming language extension, that allows a teacher to specify these strategies, and a dynamic analysis, that allows to match the specifications of the teacher against student implementations.

The transmission lines are mainly classified as short, medium or long lines. The classification is based on the accuracy of the model and simplicity. While the short line model is quite simple, the long line model is somewhat complex and the medium line is in-between the two. At power frequency of 60 or 50 Hz, the lines of length below 80 km are treated as short lines and the length of line exceeding 80 km but less than 250 km can be modelled as medium lines and as the length of lines exceed 250 km it is a long line.

What is the SMF (Systems Management Facility) system of MVS and z/OS? We see that it collects information about system and job activity and performance. Information from the SMF datasets can be extracted and reports can be easily created. We see how to do all that. SMF has variable records of many types: Here is a list of the most common SMF record types: RMF records are in the range 70 through to 79. RMF's records are generally supplemented - for serious performance analysis - by Type 30 (subtypes 2 and 3) address space records. RACF type 80 records are written to record security issues, i.e. password violations, denied resource access attempts, etc. TopSecret, another security system, also writes type 80 records. ACF2 provides equivalent information in, by default, type 230 records but this SMF record type can be changed for each installed site. SMF type 89 records indicate software product usage and are used to calculate reduced sub-capacity software pricing. DB2 writes type 100, 101 and 102 records, depending on specific DB2 subsystem options. CICS writes type 110 records, depending on specific CICS options. Websphere MQ writes type 115 and 116 records, depending on specific Websphere MQ subsystem options. WebSphere Application Server for z/OS writes type 120. Version 7 introduced a new subtype to overcome shortcomings in the earlier subtype records. The new Version 7 120 Subtype 9 record provide a unified request-based view with lower overhead. MIMO-OFDM system has been currently recognized as one of the most competitive technology for 4G mobile wireless systems. MIMO-OFDM system can compensate for the lacks of MIMO systems and give play to the advantages of OFDM system. In this paper, a general Quasi orthogonal space time block code (QOSTBC) structure is proposed for multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (QOSTBC) systems for 8X8 antenna configuration. The signal detection technology used in this paper for MIMO-OFDM system is Zero-Forcing Equalization (Zero-Forcing Equalization).

Users of Financial Analysis Financial Analysis can be undertaken by management of the firm, or by parties outside the firm like owners, creditors, investors and others. The nature of analysis will differ depending on the purpose of the analyst. • Trade creditors- are interested in firm's ability to meet their claims over a very short period of time. Their analysis will, therefore, confine to the evaluation of the firm's liquidity position. • Suppliers of long term debt- on the other hand, are concerned with the firm's long-term solvency and survival. They analyse the firm's profitability over time, its ability to generate cash to be able to pay interest and repay principal and the relationship between various sources of funds i.e. capital structure relationships. Long-term creditors do analyse the historical financial statements, but they place more emphasis on the firm's projected, or pro forma, financial statements to make analysis about its future solvency and profitability. • Investors -- who have invested their money in the firm's shares, are most concerned about the firm's earnings. They restore more confidence in those firms that show steady growth in earnings. As such, they concentrate on the analysis of the firm's present and future profitability. They are also interested in the firm's financial structure to the extent it influences the firm's earnings ability and risk. • Management - of the firm would be interested in every aspect of the financial analysis. It is their overall responsibility to see that the resources of the firm are used most effectively and efficiently, and that the firm's financial condition is sound.

Big Orange Bramble (BOB) – A 64-node Raspberry Pi 3 based Supercomputer Abstract: This project involved the design and construction of a high performance cluster composed of 64 quad-core ARMv8 64-bit Raspberry Pi 3s. The primary intent of the project was to establish the operating environment, communication structure, application frameworks, application development tools, and libraries necessary to support the eﬀective operation of a high performance computer model for the students and faculty in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department of the University of Tennessee to utilize. As a foundation, the system borrowed heavily from the Tiny Titan system constructed by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, which was a similar but smaller-scale project consisting of 9 ﬁrst generation Raspberry Pis. Beyond the primary target of delivering a functional system, eﬀorts were focused on application development, performance benchmarking, and delivery of a comprehensive build/usage guide to aid those who wish to build upon the eﬀorts of this project. Bagadus is a prototype of a soccer analysis application which integrates a sensor system, soccer analytics annotations and video processing of a video camera array.
