The analysis will be conducted using only publicly available information (that is, information obtainable on the Internet (using a browser), company reports, news reports, journal articles, etc.). The risk analysis should consider legitimate, known threats that pertain to the subject organization. Based on the information gathered, presumed vulnerabilities of the company or organization’s computing and networking infrastructure will be identified. Then, based on the identified threats and vulnerabilities you will describe the risk profile for the subject organization and suggest recommendations to mitigate the risks. The students will demonstrate in the Research Paper project their ability to communicate clearly and acquisition, application and integration of knowledge skills. We will have rubrics to evaluate risk analysis subject matter competency and communications and knowledge competencies. You will submit a brief proposal (page and half long, double-spaced) in session 4. The proposal should include description of the organization you are proposing to analyze, scope (e.g., entire organization, key business area, major system, etc.) for the risk assessment, research methods to be used and preliminary list of research information sources and references. Your instructor will provide feedback on the suitability of the proposed subject organization and the scope, as well as the suitability of the proposed research methods and information sources.

Risk Management includes the processes of identification, analysis and either acceptance or mitigation of uncertainty in projectdecision-making. Risk management occurs anytime a project manager manager analyzes and attempts to qualify and quantify of project threats or opportunities, then takes the appropriate action (or inaction) given the project objectives and risk tolerance. Inadequate risk management can result in severe consequences for projects and organizations as well as individuals. Simply put, risk management is determining what risks exist in an project and then handling those risks in a way best-suited to the project's objectives. Risk management occurs throughout the project lifecycle and is relevant to all projects whether they are in the public or private sector, or whether they are large or small. It should form part of the culture of the organisation with clear responsibilities laid down for every manager and employee to be involved in the project. Risk management supports accountability, performance measurement and rewards, thus promoting efficiency at all levels. As part of PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements program, a PMP credential holder will need to earn 60 Personal Development Units (PDUs) during every three-year cycle. Fortunately, PDUs can be earned in many ways including E-learning, attending chapter meetings and seminars and SELF-DIRECTED LEARNING. Dr. Roy Aranda on Coping With Mass Shootings & Risk Management

Dr. Aranda one of Long Islands premier Psychologists, talks about the differences between natural disasters, such as hurricanes Harvey, Maria & Irma, viruses intentional violent crimes such as the mass shootings at the Orlando nightclub, Aurora, Colorado movie theatre and Las Vegas. Dr. Aranda provides the definition of mass shootings . and talks about crisis intervention, potential ensuing consequences and all aspects of risk management. Dr. Roy Aranda obtained a Psy.D. from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University, in 1982, a 2-year post-doctoral degree in neuropsychology in 2001, and a law degree in 2007. He has been a licensed psychologist in NY since 1983. Dr. Aranda is President of Long Island Psychological Consulting, P.C. He performed hundreds of forensic evaluations and was an expert in several high profile cases including the Happy Land Trial and New York Terrorist Trial with Sheik Rahman. Dr. Aranda has traveled extensively and made many presentations abroad, and was awarded the honorary status of Visiting Professor at the John F. Kennedy University in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has made frequent presentations at universities and professional organizations and has written several articles. Most recently, his article, Living in the Shadows: Plight of the Undocumented, Journal of Clinical Psychology, was published on August 23, 2016. A follow-up article is near completion: Living in the Shadows: Plight of the Undocumented. Dr. Aranda is writing two chapters that will be published in an edited book Crossing the “Wall”: Perilous Journey of Hispanic Refugees into the U.S.; Sex Offenders and Their Victims: Myths & Standards of Practice Dr. Aranda became President of the Association of Hispanic Mental Health Professionals this past May. He is Past-President of NYSPA, Past-President of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, Past-President of the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society, is on the Board of Directors of NAPRHSW, and holds leadership roles in several professional organizations. Dr. Aranda organized the Hispanic Neuropsychological Society’s first conference, Forensic Neuropsychological Assessment of Hispanics, held at St. John’s University in Queens, NY on October 26, 2014.

Etterson and colleague Rick Bennett are co-authors of two companion articles in the October 2013 issue of IEAM that present an innovative model for predicting effects of pesticides on bird reproduction. The model, MCnest can identify species-specific risks by incorporating key life history traits and timing of pesticide application. This approach goes beyond the confines of the traditional avian reproduction test by quantifying the magnitude of a pesticide's effect on bird reproduction throughout a breeding season. Bio for Matthew Etterson Dr. Matthew Etterson is a Research Ecologist with USEPAs Office of Research and Development in the National Health and Environmental Effects Laboratory, Mid-Continent Ecology Division, Duluth, Minnesota. He also holds adjunct positions in the Integrated Biological Sciences Program and at the Natural Resources Research Institute, both at the University of Minnesota Duluth. He has authored 40 peer-reviewed publications. Etterson's research has focused on avian reproductive ecology and has ranged from empirical studies of avian nesting success to the development of statistical methods for estimating competing risks in avian reproduction. Etterson's research interests include population level ecological risk assessment, statistical methods in avian field research, avian reproductive ecology, and ecological risk assessment for chemicals. Yet that is not always the case, quite the contrary in fact. While it’s easy to incorporate the results of a study conducted under standardized methods such as good laboratory practices, the vast majority of studies do not conform to universal protocols, making it harder for regulators to vet and extract necessary data. Enter relevance assessment: an evaluation designed to help practitioners identify the most appropriate sources for the topic being addressed. Christina Ruden and colleagues offer practical guidance to evaluating relevance in their article “Assessing the relevance of ecotoxicological studies for regulatory decision making.” The article is part of the special series “Improving the Usability of Ecotoxicology in Regulatory Decision-Making.” Access the series in the July 2017 (http://setac.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/hub/issue/10.1002/ieam.v13.4/) issue of IEAM.
