My Best Marketing Strategies for [2018] | Creative Growth Plans for Business

The analysis on how much money we're spending to generate the traffic and here's what's crazy, most people don't realize this, we generate, let's say a million visitors a month on Neil Patel. Do you know what the cost to get there is with video, production, podcasting, blogging, promotion, ads, link building? $110,000 a month. That's what it averaged out to for 2017. Here are my marketing strategies for 2018. I just bought a blog in the marketing space for a half a million bucks. They get a million visitors a month, and it's cheaper to spend money acquiring people who already have the traffic. So in 2017, I bought Uber Suggest, I think it was around 140 grand. They had very little traffic. I 381 redirected the site, traffic increased and guess what happened? Nothing. I hoped that my traffic would go through the roof, but nothing happened. Uber Suggest was a good acquisition and what I ended up learning from that is, who cares about links? Don't buy anything for the links. Buy it purely based off of traffic and just pay a simple metric. If Uber Suggest has roughly 200,000 visitors per month, I paid a hundred and something; I would have paid 200 grand, the money didn't matter. For a blog that I just spent half a million on, their traffic ranges. On a horrible month, they'll get around 800,000 uniques. In a perfect month, they'll get around, like, 1.2, 1.3 million uniques, and all I'm doing right now is buying as many blogs as possible. My marketing strategy for 2018 is to buy blogs based on of traffic. I look at the top posts that they have and how qualified their visitors are and determine if I can successfully monetize their content. I don't even care if they have revenue. If they don't have revenue, even better. The problem with Search Engine Journal is that they have conferences, they have advertising, and they have contracts for all of it. I don't care for any of that. I just want the traffic. So when you buy all these people for traffic and then you put it into your monetization flow, you can quickly figure out, what is this worth? If I can't make my money back in less than 12 months, I will not buy it. The other marketing strategy that I use when I'm buying these sites is to look for blogs that aren't monetized well. The blog that I ended up buying for half a million bucks, they're not even making three grand a month. If you're not even making three grand a month, that's a good deal, right? They're like; you're going to give me half a million dollars for this? No problem. Another creative marketing strategy I'm doing right now, is trying to buy a really popular marketing tool. I don't want to pay them all the money they're asking for because they want well into the millions, and it isn't worth it. But, I'm trying to work out a deal where I give them X amount of money up front, let's say a million dollars, and then give them a hundred thousand a month over X amount of months or a hundred thousand a year over X amount of years. When I see inefficiencies in sites, I figure I can purchase them and double the revenue because they aren't optimized for traffic or conversions. So buy it for what it's worth, optimize it, and then use the profits to pay them out continually. That way you're not using all of your money and the business is paying, you may have spent a bit more money, but personally, you don't have to spend as much money, and that's my marketing strategy for 2018. My goal is to spend at least $5 million acquiring businesses purely based on their traffic. This is a very complicated world. It’s a very noisy world. And we’re not going to get a chance to get people to remember much about us. No company is! And so, we have to be really clear on what we want them to know about us. Now Apple, fortunately, is one of half-a-dozen best brands in the whole world. Right up there with Nike, Disney, Coke, Sony — it is one of the greats of the greats. Not just in this country, but all around the globe. But even a great brand needs investment and caring if it’s going to retain its relevance and vitality. And the Apple brand has clearly suffered from neglect in this area in the last few years. And we need to bring it back! The way to do that is NOT to talk about speeds and fees. It’s NOT to talk about bits and mega-hertz. It’s NOT to talk about why we are better than Windows. The dairy industry tried for 20 years to convince you that milk was good for you. It’s a lie, but they tried anyway. And the sales were falling. And then they tried “Got milk” and the sales went up. “Got milk” wasn’t even talking about the product. In fact, it focuses on the absence of the product. But the best example of all, and one of the greatest jobs of marketing that the universe has ever seen, is Nike. Remember, Nike sells a commodity. They sell shoes!!! And yet, when you think of Nike you feel something different than a shoe company. In their ads, as you know, they don’t ever talk about the product. They don’t ever tell you about their air soles and why they are better than Reebok’s air soles. What does Nike do in their advertising? They honor great athletes. And they honor great athletics. That’s who they are, that’s what they are about! Apple spends a fortune on advertising — you’d never know it….you’d never know it! So…when I got here, Apple just fired their agency and there was a competition with 23 agencies that…you know…four years from now we would pick one. And we blew that up and we hired Chiat\Day, the ad agency that I was fortunate enough to work with years ago and created some award winning work including the commercial voted the best ad ever made, 1984 (by Advertising Professionals). And…we started working about eight weeks ago, and the question we asked was, “Our customers want to know who is Apple and what is it that we stand for…where do we fit in this world?” And what we’re about isn’t making boxes for people to get their jobs done — although we do that well. We do that better than almost anybody, in some cases. But Apple is about something more than that! Apple at the core…its core value — is that, we believe that people with passion can change the world for the better. That’s what we believe! And we have had the opportunity to work with people like that. We’ve had the opportunity to work with people like you; with software developers, with customers, who have done it. In some big, and some small ways. And we believe that, in this world, people can change it for the better. And that those people who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world are the ones that actually do! And so, what we’re going to do in our first brand marketing campaign in several years, is to get back to that core value! A lot of things have changed. The market is in a total different place than where it was a decade ago. And Apple is totally different — and Apple’s place in it is totally different. And believe me, the products, and the distribution strategy, and the manufacturing are totally different…and we understand that. But values and core values — those things shouldn’t change. The things that Apple believed in at its core, are the same things Apple really stands for today. Get this right in your online business will flourish. the Internet marketing strategies covered in this video contain content marketing strategies and paid advertising strategies including Facebook ads. The first three Internet marketing strategies include content marketing on YouTube, through a podcast, or the written word on a WordPress blog. These three core content marketing strategies make up the three pillar strategy I've taught in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-ZhK00OkBE First, you are required to create your core strategy which is your method of initiating content. for example, if you are a writer and you enjoy writing… Starting off with a WordPress blog and the written word is key! For me, I hate writing… So I chose YouTube to originate my content! Creating your content marketing based on your strengths and the type of media you enjoy producing content on most is the number one key to success with Internet marketing! once you have habituated the process of creating content with your main initiation method, you can actually syndicate that content to the additional to marketing pillars as explained in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDut6NJK8h0 The fourth marketing strategy is the ad and funnel strategy… This strategy costs money and has more pressure to optimize in a shorter period of time. I believe you need to have thousands of dollars, potentially $2000-$5000 available to invest in the idea before ever expecting to see a decent return. Some people take longer and it can cost tens of thousands of dollars, some people figure it out sooner… The quality of your offer, how skilled a copywriter you are and your experiences in sales all can help shorten the learning curve here. the fifth marketing strategy is to leverage Kindle. I don't expect to "earn my income" from the sales my Kindle books, they are more of a lead generation system. My wife and I have distributed over 50,000 Kindle books and the number of leads and customers we have generated through our funnels with our Kindle books is amazing! Also, some of the highest quality traffic we receive comes from Kindle because Kindle users often our customers and there's leveraged credibility from Amazon for us. These people have consumer content, purchased a product of ours before they ever enter our funnel… This increases the likelihood of them taking action on the offers we present throughout her funnel. If you are recording podcast interviews, it is very easy to create YouTube videos based on those audio files.

After all the right digital marketing strategy can either make or break your marketing before it’s even launched, which is why on this episode I'm giving you 20... (yes, 20) of my top Digital Marketing Strategies For Small Businesses for you to choose from so you can build the perfect digital marketing strategy for you and your business. Now rather than dive into the nitty-gritty specifics of each and everyone… which would make for a full day viewing affair, I’m going to give you 20 of the top strategies that I’ve seen work wonders for small businesses in order to generate more leads, customers, and sales. One more quick note, you’re going to notice some overlap between these, and that’s ok, just pick out the 2, 3, or maybe even 4 areas you think you’re going to be able to shine and focus there to start. Some items are going to be high level, and some more specific but this is intentional, because some things need to be looked at on both a macro and a micro level in order to really understand how they might be valuable to your business. The goal here is to flood your brain with possibilities so you can see what resonates and what doesn’t enabling you to dive in deeper later on the points you feel would give your business the most bang for your marketing buck. So now that we got that out of the way, hopefully, you have a mobile app by now. The first thing you want to do when it comes to marketing your app is generate press. If you're too lazy and you don't want to generate press on your own, go check out prserve.com David's slow. It's founded by a guy named Chris Barrett. And Chris Barrett does performance-based press in which, when you get press, you pay. If he doesn't get you press, you shouldn't pay. Funny enough, that's how all PR should be. I don't know why these companies are trying to charge $10,000, $20,000 monthly retainers when they're not guaranteeing any press. All right, so you can use a service or a company like PRServe. If you want to do it on your own, go check out who's covering apps within your space. If you have a beauty app, then, all right, go check out all the beauty bloggers. Give them the app for free. And don't just give it to them for free when everyone else is getting it for free, but you want to give it to them before you launch it to the public. By giving them early access, they're going to be like, "Oh my God, I love you, Neil. "This app's amazing." And then they're going to cover it; they're going to feel special. And then when everyone starts covering it, then you're going to get some awesome press and some signups. Number two, what you want to do is get coverage in the blogosphere. It could just be someone talking about marketing, assuming you have a marketing app, and they include you within that blog spot. So what I do is I go reach out to all the bloggers who have already written articles that are related to my app. The third thing you want to do, and I hate to say this, spend money on advertising. You can get a ton of traffic from Facebook ads for your app installs. You can also go to other people out there who already have apps and buy ad space from them. You probably have some games on your phone. What do you see when you're playing these games? Every once in awhile it'll be like, pause, ad break, and there'll be an ad for another app. That's when you can get your app in there. It's dirt cheap. You can do this in quantity, and that'll also help you drive a lot of installs. Follow those three things, you'll get a lot more app installs, and you'll be popular, and hopefully, your app monetizes so that way you can make money. Once you have people in your app, then you can start doing like the virality, in which you can do invite flows, give people bonuses and points for sharing, rating, be reviewing your app, which will all help with more installs in the long run. But if you have no one coming into your app, those viral loops won't work.

When it makes sense, link back out to your website. This is so effective that my Quora profile gets hundreds of thousands of views each month. Step 2: Create content in different formats (text, video, audio) and promote them on the social web (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Quora). You can post the same content on multiple social sites as Google DOES NOT penalize for duplicate content. When using this tactic make sure you only put part of your content on social media and make the readers click over back to your site to read the rest. Step 3: Google for forums within your space and respond to questions. Within your forum response add a signature that lists your website. The better response you give the more traffic you will get. Hey everyone, I'm Neil Patel, and today I'm going to share with you how you can stand out from the crowd with social media marketing. Tip #1: Leverage the new innovative channels out there. Facebook and Instagram are old. But you know what? On these social sites, they continually innovate. Who's Facebook trying to be? YouTube. So what does Facebook roll out? Facebook Watch. It's their version of showing live TV shows, just like YouTube. Facebook wants a slice of the action. If you post your video content to Facebook, they'll instantly give you a ton of views. Why? Because they want you to move all your video content over to Facebook. That's innovative, right? #2: Be transparent. The thing with marketing is that everyone sees it for what it is. Consumers these days see right through the gimmicks. So whatever you do, do you. But if you really want to stand out with social media marketing, be transparent. Lying and telling people that they're going to get results that they're not going to get, it's just going to make people not like you. Look at sites like smartpassiveincome.com run by Pat Flynn. Pat was an architect, and now he's just like, "Hey let me create a blog telling people and showing them "how I'm making money online "and let me even show 'em my numbers "and prove that these are my real stats." And people love it. It's all about being transparent, his marketing has taken off, and he's one of the most popular bloggers and even podcasters out there because he's transparent. And that's the cool part. By being transparent, you're gonna get a following of people being like, "Oh, cool, you're showing all of your amazing moments "and all your terrible moments." If you want to be transparent with your social media marketing leave a comment with your ideas and I'll tell you if it's going to work or if it won't. I've tested a lot of this stuff out, like on the Neil Patel blog; I shared my journey all the way from going from zero to a hundred thousand visitors a month. #3: Use videos. Look, you're watching me. You know the past few months I've been doing a ton of videos, I've been going to conferences, events, and you know what people have been saying? Neil, you have amazing content. I'm like, "Great you love my content. "What was the latest piece of content that you liked?" I'm just trying to get feedback on how I can improve. And they're like, "Oh, your video on X, Y, and Z topic." They're not talking about my podcasts; they're not talking about my blog content even though my blog content gets way more traffic. Everyone's talking about my video content. Why is that? It's because it's helping me build a deeper connection with you. Sure, there are lots of comments on my videos, but I also do that in my blog comments. Why isn't my blog growing as fast? People want videos; it's how they connect with one another. So, create videos. It's not about text-based content these days; it's not about audio-based content, if you want to stand out from the crowd it's all about videos. #4: Be a long-term thinker. Look at Gary Vaynerchuk; you think he's successful, right? He is. Did it happen overnight? No, it didn't. He had Wine Library TV before that, then he created his agency, then did the DailyVee, and eventually, yes, you're seeing him everywhere, but it took him a long time before he got to where he is. And the same with me. You think I'm an overnight success? No, I've been doing this for over 16 years. That's a long time. No, you don't have to put in 16 years like I am before you start seeing results and making money, but if you want to really succeed in the marketing world, you have to think of it as a three-plus year plan. Don't expect amazing things in the first six months; you'll see some traction. After the first year, you're going to start seeing growth. After the second year, things are going to start skyrocketing. After three years, assuming you're pushing hard every single week, then things are going to start blowing up. But, if you don't do it consistently you won't do well. It's all about the long game. Today we're going to talk about one of my restaurant marketing ideas, or dare I say one of my most important and valuable restaurant marketing idea, which will ultimately lead to doubling your profit. See I get phone calls and e-mails all the time from people that want to know how they can double their business. What they really mean by 'doubling their business' is they want to double their profits. The difference really is, when you say you want to double your business, you're talking about adding more marketing, adding more labor and adding more expenses, which will hopefully lead to more profits. I'm going to share with you a 3 step process that won't cost you any money in marketing, in advertising, in added labor and really, not much more extra time. What that's going to do is allow any new revenue to go right to the bottom line, with out any added expenses! And that's why this formula is so simple to not only execute, but to understand! Step 1 to doubling your restaurant or pretty much any food and beverage establishment's profits: 10% more customers. That means if you're serving an average of 100 customers a day, you simply need to bump that up to a 110 customers a day. I want to share with you my best tip for getting more customers in your restaurant without spending any money and that's called Online Review Engagement. A lot of us are engaging currently online with our customers but we're not doing it correctly, in the native way, that they want to be heard and listened to, depending on what platform you're working on. The way we talk to customers is very different on Twitter to Facebook to Yelp to Vine to Instagram or any of the social media platforms out there. If you are not certain that you are engaging with your customers 100% accurately, in the way they want to be engaged with online, then send me an e-mail and just tell me the name of your business and city that you are located in, so I can do a quick little search of your social media. Then we'll get on the phone for a half hour or so. I want to share with you some of the things you're doing right and maybe some areas for improvement. This is so important, this is game changing, this is real life changing stuff when you figure out how to properly engage with your customers online, especially with reviews. I was asked how to how to create a social media marketing plan for B2B. Frankly, I'm not sure you should. You need an overall sales and marketing plan (aligned), and any social tactic needs to be a part of an overall flow of tactics (what's next / what's before it / what's along side it in the buyer's journey?). But you certainly need a plan for those social tactics.
