SF 1199A (Direct Deposit Form) This form tells DFAS what bank account you want your money to go to in the form of Direct Deposit. http://www.nc.ngb.army.mil/Services/Pages/Retirees.aspx M-Day/Traditional Retirement Services The North Carolina National Guard Retirement Section provides information on benefits and entitlements in order to prepare Soldiers and their families for retirement. This section also ensures the understanding of the Reserve Component Survivor Benefit Plan (RC-SBP) Program. Once you receive your 20 year letter you have 4 options that will impact your retirement pay and benefits. These options are; retired reserve, discharge, remain in the guard, and the stand by reserve. Planning for Retirement Before 20 Years of Service If you are planning on retirement from the National Guard there is some information you should know before you reach 20 years of service. In order to earn the maximum retired pay at age 60 you should start planning for retirement early to earn the maximum retirement point each year. Click for more information: Army, Air Guard 20 Years of Service Information Once you have completed 20 years of service you should learn about your retirement benefits. Some of these benefits must be claimed within 90 days of receiving your 20 year letter. Gray Area Retirees Gray area Retirees are soldiers who have completed 20 years of service but have not reached the age for retired pay. While in this period there is some information on benefits you should know. Click for more information. Army, Air Guard Applying For Retirement Pay Soldiers who have completed 20 years of service and reached the age to receive retired pay must submit a packet. Retirement pay is not automatic and must be applied for. Some soldiers are eligible to receive pay earlier than age 60. Click for more information: Army, Air Guard TRICARE at age 60 and ID Cards Once you reach age 60 and apply for retired pay you will await a response from HRC Ft Knox for your approval letter. This letter is what you will take with you, and your spouse if applicable, to any ID Card facility to receive your retired ID card(s). Once there, you will also verify that your DEERS enrollment is correct. This is important because you are now eligible and enrolled into Tricare Standard with the option to upgrade to Tricare Prime based off your home of record. There are no monthly premiums with Tricare standard. You as the retiree will be responsible for any co-pays. At age 65 you become eligible for Medicare Part B, and your Tricare transitions to Tricare for Life. The Retirement Office recommends enrolling in Medicare Part B because as soon as you are eligible for Medicare Part B, Tricare becomes secondary. The advantage of enrolling in Medicare Part B is that Medicare will file to Tricare for you when it has completed its payments. If you have any other insurance, you as the customer will be responsible for filing to Tricare for the remainder of any charges accrued.

FUTA Calculations In this video you will calculate your federal unemployment tax. You must make a deposit to the IRS once your liability reaches $500. If you don't reach this $500 limit by the end of the year, then your payment will be due at the end of the year with your IRS 940 form. Federal Unemployment is paid on the first $7000 of each employee's taxable wages. This tax is paid by the employer and is not withheld from the employee's paycheck. The current rate (2014) is 6%; however, most states are eligible for a credit which reduces it to .6%. If you pay your state unemployment tax on time, then you will be eligible for the reduction in rate. This video goes through step by step examples on how to calculate and keep track of your on-going tax liability for FUTA.

The form 941 is a quarterly payroll tax form. Form 941 is filed four times a year and report payroll liability and deposits for federal income tax (FIT), social security, and Medicare, the FICA taxes. Form 941 is not used to calculate what we owe so we can make quarterly payment. Form 941 is an information return. In other word, we should already have paid the IRS for FICA and FIT before completing form 941. Form 941 will recalculate taxes owed for the quarter and payments made. Form 941 will calculate both the employer and employee portion of payroll taxes. Federal income tax withholding are all employee taxes while social security and medicare have an employee and employer portion. http://www.TaxMama.com Today TaxMama® hears from Donna in the TaxQuips Forum with this running argument. "Our debate concerns a client whose payroll taxes for the current and previous quarters well exceeded $2,500. The client is a monthly depositor and did not make a timely deposit for the last month in the quarter. The deposit amount due for that month is under $2,500. My staff insists the client can make the deposit with form 941, because it is under $2,500. My position is that the client should electronically file this deposit, because they do not qualify for the under $2,500 rule. Also I don't believe this client falls into the accuracy of deposit rules. Can you help settle this?" How to fill out a deposit slip . Step one- Go to were your account is housed Step two- Your will be able to find your deposit slips in the back of your checkbook. ( behind all your checks) Your name should be already preprinted on your personal deposit slips. If you don't have any deposit slips, then request one from a teller, or you may find one in/on the writing stand located in the lobby of your bank. Step three- Notice that on the the deposit slip, there are lines or a column designated to list your deposit. The first line says "Cash" this spot is for ANY CASH you're depositing. Count the cash you're depositing and write the amount where it is listed "Cash". Step 4- Look to see that next line is reserved for a check you want to deposit. If your deposit contains checks, then go ahead and list the one check in that spot. To enter a check enter the check number in the blank and the amount in the boxes. Step 5- Realize the next line may be reserved for "Checks" or "Total from the other side". Don't let this scare you, if you turn your deposit slip over you'll see that there are more lines to add more checks. If you have more than 2 checks, you can list them on the back and total them on the back as well. Once you have totaled the checks on the back, you can list them where it says "Total from the other side". Step 6- The next line says Sub Total. This is where you add up all the cash and checks you have listed. Step 7-Check out the next line and notice it says "Less Cash Received". This spot is reserved for the amount of money you would like to get back from the deposit. Step 8- Now you just subtract the "Less Cash Received" line from the "Sub Total" line to get the total for your Net Deposit.

This lesson will discuss Electronic Fund Transfers, also referred as Direct Deposit, and how to perform them in the eNETEmployer program. There are a number of steps you need to perform before you can create the actual EFT file. These most important step is entering bank information for both your company and for each employee who is to be paid via EFT. For detailed On-line Help about this feature, visit: • http://www.enetemployer.com/help/en/eft.html The company's EFT information is entered EFT screen, accessible by choosing the Current Payroll - EFT menu command. This is where you enter the company's financial information, including the name of the bank and account information. Once that step is complete, you would select the Employee - Bank Accounts menu command and enter the bank information for each of the employees. If you are using the EFT feature to pay your employees, you can distribute the funds for each employee into up to three different bank accounts. Each bank can also be assigned a Maximum Amount - a "cap" on the amount of funds that can be deposited in the bank during the EFT procedure. Once the baking information is complete, you would move to the Reports screen and choose the Generate Report option for the EFT row. This action generates the EFT file that can now be transmitted to your company's bank for final processing.

Contact Aiden and learn more at www.180lawco.com. [email protected] | 720-379-3425 One question that I get asked quite often, because it’s a really good question, is how the owner of a single-member LLC is supposed to pay him/herself. There are two possible answers to this question, depending on how the LLC is taxed. Unless the LLC elects otherwise, a single-member LLC is considered a “disregarded entity” and all of the income to the LLC is treated as income to the business owner, and is all subject to self-employment tax. So basically, the owner of a single-member LLC can pay himself however and whenever he wants, keeping in mind a few important considerations: 1. Make sure you are prepared to pay taxes. Since the LLC is a disregarded entity, if the business earns $100k but you only “pay” yourself $50k, you are still going to be responsible for paying all of the taxes, including self-employment taxes, on the full $100k. (For simplicity’s sake, I am pretending there are no deductions or anything.) So you need to set aside enough money to make sure you can cover your taxes. 2. The business has to remain adequately capitalized. This means that you need to keep enough money in the business to cover all your overhead, debts, bills, salary for employees, etc. You should also leave some extra “padding” for possibly building up your business, purchasing equipment, and whatever else you may decide to do with your business. In the books, any payments to yourself should be recorded as “Member Distribution” or “Member Withdrawal.” If the LLC elects to be taxed as an S Corporation, on the other hand, you have to be paid a “reasonable” salary. Self-employment taxes will only be paid on that salary rather than on the full amount of profit the business earns. Any money that the business owner takes above that reasonable salary is considered a dividend and won’t be subject to self-employment taxes. To learn more about S Corporations, watch my earlier video What the Heck is an S Corporation at http://youtu.be/i5to7Da3wMw?list=UUNh7tqEn68tf0oOfq4NsFsg If your LLC is not taxed as an S Corp, you don’t need to put yourself on payroll, since those member distributions aren’t treated as normal payroll. If your LLC is taxed as an S Corp, then the salary you earn can be part of your payroll, and any additional dividends will be separate from that. Whether or not you elect to have your LLC taxed as an S Corp and how to handle and record the money that you pay yourself is an important conversation that should be had with your accountant, bookkeeper, & attorney. Doing it the “right” way can help minimize your tax liability and can make your life (and that of your accountant) much easier come tax time. Thumbs up & subscribe if you want more AUIYB! Follow Me!
