How to Reset Admin (root) Password on MySQL
Author: Jeremy Druin Twitter: @webpwnized Thank you for watching. Please help! Up vote, subscribe or even support this channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/webpwnized (Click Support). With access to the MySQL server, the MySQL root (administrator) password can be reset. The MySQL administrative user (aka root) stores its password hash in the mysql.user table (as does all MySQL users). By starting the MySQL server with skip grants option and using SQL queries to overwrite the MySQL root/admin password hash, the MySQL root/admin/administrator password can be changed to any value. The MySQL instance demoed in the video is installed on Ubuntu Linux but the technique works on any Linux or Windows system because the technique interacts with the MySQL server itself. The Windows or Linux operating system is not important. MySQL Server does not store passwords, but instead stores password hashes. When the user enters a password, the system hashes the password then compares the calculated password hash against the password hash on file in the MySQL user table. If the two password hashes match, the system authenticates the user. The root/admin user has more privileges than other users

MySQL Workbench Database Export and Import
Learn Database Export and Import using MySQL Workbench. Open MySQL Workbench and logged in to MySQL database server using 'root' username and password. In previous couple of videos we learned how to Create, Alter, Drop Databases and Tables and also how to Insert, Read, Update, Delete data rows using MySQL Workbench. In this lecture we will learn how to Export and Import the database using MySQL Workbench. First of all to Export the databases or tables, from top menu 'Server' select 'Data Export' Option, which opens a new window of data export settings and options. The left section on the window displays all the existing databases on our MySQL database server. When we select a database by clicking on it, it displays all the respected tables under the selected database. We can select one or multiple database check-boxes to include the database in the Export file. Under 'Export Options' section, You can change the default export path of you choice. I'll keep the default one. By selecting first option that is 'Export to Dump Project Folder'. MySQL Workbench will save the save all tables as separate SQL file under one folder. Which is useful when you will be importing or restoring the export file one by one table. I'll go ahead quickly and first save as 'Export to Dump Project Folder', MySQL Workbench displays the progress bar and log. Now, I'll again export the database using 'Export to Self-contained File' option. To demonstrate the import first I'll delete the existing 'students' table under 'mytestdb' database. Display database details by clicking on 'i' symbol, select 'tables' tab. Select and right click 'students' table, and click 'Drop Table' option, confirm and delete the table. Click 'refresh' to update the tables section and we have no table in our 'mytestdb' database. Now select the database and from 'data import' window, select 'import from dump folder. 'Load folder contents' and select only 'mytestdb' database and click start import button to import 'students' table again. Go to 'mytestdb' database information window again and click 'refresh' button to reload table list again. and the 'students' table is back. Optimizing MySQL Configuration
MySQL's configuration file is often the focus of too much attention and too much tweaking of variables that make no difference — or worse, have the potential to negatively impact performance. The sample default configuration files that come with MySQL are unfortunately not very helpful or good, either. You'll learn a practical approach to generate a sensible configuration file that sets what's needed and omits what isn't. The result will be a more stable and performant server that's resistant to many common problems. Presented by Peter Zaitsev at Percona Webinars -- March 14th, 2012.

How to Set ODBC MySQL Driver
Follow this step by step tutorial to learn how to setup MySql ODBC driver for windows and how it is configured. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ ODBC stands for Open Database Connectivity. It is used to provide a connection for the database. It acts like a bridge between the database manager and the Operating System. With this driver installed and configured, we can use our database with various applications such as spreadsheets, reporting tools or various other software suits. In this tutorial we will learn to set up the same my sql ODBC driver Step 1- Download First, let's download my sql ODBC driver. It can be downloaded from dev.mysql.com. Over there, choose the version according to the operating system we are running. For this tutorial, we will be setting the ODBC MySQL driver in windows. Step 2- Installation After finishing with the download, run the setup for installation. Just follow the step by step process of the installation wizard to install the driver. Step 3- System Settings After the installation, we have to configure the connection. For that, open up the Control panel and click on the System and Security option. Step 4-Admin tools A window will open up with several options in it, open up the Administrative Tools option from there. Step 5-Data Source All of the Administrative tools would be displayed in a separate window. We have to setup our database connection, so for that click ODBC Data Sources option. Step 6- Adding System DSN A window will open up having different tabs in it. Choose System DSN tab and then click Add button on right. Step 7- Choosing ODBC option A window will open up having the list of ODBC drivers in it. As we have to configure our ODBC driver for MySQL, choose My SQL ODBC Driver option and click on Finish. Step 8-Configuring the Connection With that done, the odbc mysql configuration window will open up. In that window, give the data source a name, if MySQL instance is installed in the same pc in which we are setting up the ODBC driver, give "localhost" as a name of TCP IP server and leave the port as default. Give the appropriate user name for which you have granted access to your database, here let us assign "root" in user as it has access to all the databases by default and leave password field blank as root is configured with empty password by default. After that, we have to choose the required database which we want to be linked through this connection from the databases drop down menu in the bottom. After that, click OK button. Step 9- Connection Appeared In List The connection would appear in the System DSN Connections list. This connection basically contains the information of the server on which MySQL is installed and the database which has to be used. And this is how MySQL ODBC driver is setup in windows.

How to Enable the Query Log in MySQL
Follow this step by step easy tutorial to learn how to enable the query Log in MySQL and see how to make log file. Don't forget to check out our site http://howtech.tv/ for more free how-to videos! http://youtube.com/ithowtovids - our feed http://www.facebook.com/howtechtv - join us on facebook https://plus.google.com/103440382717658277879 - our group in Google+ Query logs are very useful, as they provide the record of the queries executed against the databases. These can help the programmers, Database developers and Administrators as well in trouble shooting the problems that sometimes arise. Additionally, these logs also play a very vital role in a scenario where transactions are performed against the database very much frequently for example in the case of banks, airlines etc. In MySQL, query log feature is not enabled by default; however we can enable it through just some simple steps. So in this tutorial we will focus on the same task, which would be to enable MySQL query Log. Step 1- Opening My.ini File To enable mysql query logging, just open up the my.ini file from the MySql Folder through the Wamp icon located in the taskbar Step 2- Specifying Log File Name Navigate to the end of the page, and just add the following line: Log=file_log.log Here, file_log is the filename, it can be any name over here but .log should be the extension of all the log files. Now just save the file and then close it. Step 3- Restarting WAMP Restart the Wamp services for the changes to take effect. For that, click on Wamp Server icon located on the taskbar usually, and click "Restart All Services" option. Step 4- Opening MySQL Console Having done that, let's open up the MySQL console to write a query to see whether it's logged or not. For that, click on Wamp Server, move to MySQL folder and then choose MySQL console option from the list. Step 5- Writing a simple query Now let us just write a simple query just to check whether mysql query logging has been enabled or not. Step 6- navigating inside MySQL directory To view the log file, open up the Data Folder in the MySQL directory. In this folder, we will find and open the log file that we specified earlier. Step 7- Verify the Log Once we open up the log file, you can see that all the details regarding the query that we entered are logged here. And this is how we can enable mysql query log.

This video explains how to change the port numbers of MySQL and Apache in XAMPP software. If there is an issue with starting the services of MYSQL and Apache this video will be helpful. Here is the description. 1. Firstly download the latest version of XAMPP in your system and install it. 2. Go to search on your computer and open XAMPP control panel. to start MySQL service: 3. To start the MySQL service you have to click on start button next to MySQL. 4. MySQL by-default runs on port 3306. 5. MySQL with ZEOS components - Delphi Tutorials
Delphi tutorial – connect MySQL with ZEOS library After you manage to create this application, you will actually have small MySQL manager. To achieve this you will have to have access to MySQL server. In this tutorial I am using portable version of server called „USBWebserver“ which can be downloaded from : www.usbwebserver.net Here you can see default port to Apache and MySQL server, and if you click on the button PHPMyadmin, PHPMyAdmin will be opened in default web browser where you will see that default user for accessing PHPMyAdmin is „root“ and default password is „usbw“. In this example I used these data to access MySQL. You also have option online with some free MySQL servers, just google something like „free mysql server „ or something like that. Just pay attention on username , password and port number. /*****************************************************************************/ Second thing you need to have is „libmysql.dll“ file which is a part of the MySQL Connector, you can find one on official MySQL web page, or to download the one that I used in this example : https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_njK7HczCjDMGRVMGhGbUk1OHc Just save it in the same folder where your exe file will be, and link to it in you application like I explained in video tutorial (ZConnection1.LibraryLocation:=ExtractFilePath(Application.ExeName)+'libmysql.dll';) /*****************************************************************************/ The third thing you need is installed ZeosDBO components for Delphi, from ZeosLib Development Group, and the lates source code you can find at http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/zeoslib /*****************************************************************************/ Basically that are tools that you need. We start with creating new project , adding necesary components on the form and writting code to achieve what we want. In the video you can see all these steps, and in the code for showed example you can see details. Find source code at :http://xkobyx.blogspot.com/

This video is about defaulting Mediant 3000 configuration parameter settings using an INI file. Mediant 3000 configuration settings are stored in an INI file on the Media Gateway. When a parameter is excluded from the ini file, the default value is assigned to that parameter. We demonstrate setting all parameters to default except the device's IP address and Web interface login user names and passwords by loading an "empty" INI file to the device. Produced by Ricardo Cadena. Edit wp-config.php To Add WordPress Database Credentials | WP Learning Lab
Download our exclusive 10-Point WP Hardening Checklist: http://bit.ly/10point-wordpress-hardening-checklist Edit wp-config.php To Add WordPress Database Credentials | WP Learning Lab In another video (here: https://youtu.be/wtG1IJ1Wbvs) I showed you how to create a MySQL database for your WordPress site. In this video I'm going to show you how to edit wp-config.php file to include the database credentials. Although many people will be intimidated by it, editing wp-config.php is quite easy once you know the steps. So I encourage you try. The first thing you must do to edit config file is log into the root directory of your WordPress site. You can do this via FTP or the file manager in your hosting account, whatever you're most comfortable with. Find a file called wp-config-sample.php and open it for editing wp-config.php. Scroll down to where it says MySQL Settings. Just below that you will see three important entries: 1. define('DB_NAME', 'database_name_here'); 2. define('DB_USER', 'username_here'); 3. define('DB_PASSWORD', 'password_here'); Carefully replace database_name_here with the MySQL database name you created. Make sure that the single quotes stay, you only want to replace the text database_name_here. Replace username_here with the username you created and replace password_here with the password you created. That's all you need to install WordPress. You can save the file and exit or you can do a couple more tweaks that will make your site more secure. If you want to exit now, simply save the file and close the text editor. Then make sure you change the file name from wp-config-sample.php to wp-config.php. If you want to make some security tweaks then keep reading. Scroll down in the wp config file to where it says Authentication Unique Keys and Salts. Keys and salts are unique characters that WordPress uses to make usernames and passwords extra hard for hackers to guess. Go to the URL that is the instructions for the keys and salts (https://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/salt/). Refresh the page that loads a few times and then copy and paste the block of code that appears on that page. Paste that code block into the wp-config.php file replacing the demo code that exists. And you're done with the unique keys and salts. After that you can scroll down to where it says WordPress Database Table Prefix. By default the database prefix is wp_ and every hacker knows that. Every hacker also knows that 99% of webmasters don't change the prefix. Hackers can take advantage of this information to gain access to your database. This is easily avoided. Simply change the database table prefix to something random. You can only use letters and numbers and the underscore needs to be kept at the end of the prefix. For example, instead of wp_ you could make the prefix be tomfoolery_. The latter is much more difficult for a hacker to guess. That's it for basic wp-config.php security. You can now save the file, exit and rename it to wp-config.php. I hope this information helps you! If you have any questions leave a comment below or ping me @WPLearningLab on Twitter.
