It turns out, if you think money and happiness are exclusive, you simply aren't spending it right. This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In his TEDx talk Kilian will explain the relation between money and happiness. Many people ask themselves the question: does money make me happy? In this talk you will find that this question is not one-dimensional. Some people become very happy with money, others don't. Kilian refers to his research at one of the major banks in the world, where he studied this relationship. He worked and lived in Monaco among the richest people in the world and found out why people react differently to money and that making people happy with money is not always possible. Dr. Kilian W. Wawoe (1972) started his career as HR trainee at ABN-AMRO Bank, and held different HR jobs around the world. Besides his daily job, Kilian researched the relationship between money, happiness and performance at his bank in India, Brazil, USA, the Netherlands and Romania. The crisis of 2008 brought him at a crossroad. His thesis showed that bonuses lead not only to wrong behavior, it also does not make employees happy! Kilian had to choose: publishing his PhD or stay at the bank. He decided to leave the bank. About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Brought to you by WordPorn.com In this video Alan Watts asks us what we really desire - and how conforming to the machine we call society is inevitably passed on from generation to generation, he makes us truly see how we are brain washed into societal enslavement without even realizing it, he makes us see why conforming to a job you don't even like is idiotic and non-sensical, he makes us see how not following your true desires can lead to a miserable life. We have 28,000 days that make up our entire lives and spending even an ounce of that doing things we hate in order to try to live a lifestyle that was taught to us by either our parents, teachers or/and society is a form of internal suicide. I'm going to leave you with this quote. "We all run on two clocks. One is the outside clock, which ticks away our decades and brings us ceaselessly to the dry season. The other is the inside clock, where you are your own timekeeper and determine your own chronology, your own internal weather and your own rate of living. Sometimes the inner clock runs itself out long before the outer one, and you see a dead man going through the motions of living.” Max Lerner" Alan Watts Says: What do you desire? What makes you itch? What sort of a situation would you like? Let’s suppose, I do this often in vocational guidance of students, they come to me and say, well, "we’re getting out of college and we have the faintest idea what we want to do". So I always ask the question, "what would you like to do if money were no object? How would you really enjoy spending your life?" Well, it’s so amazing as a result of our kind of educational system, crowds of students say well, we’d like to be painters, we’d like to be poets, we’d like to be writers, but as everybody knows you can’t earn any money that way. Or another person says well, I’d like to live an out-of-doors life and ride horses. I said you want to teach in a riding school? Let’s go through with it. What do you want to do? When we finally got down to something, which the individual says he really wants to do, I will say to him, you do that and forget the money, because, if you say that getting the money is the most important thing, you will spend your life completely wasting your time. You’ll be doing things you don’t like doing in order to go on living, that is to go on doing things you don’t like doing, which is stupid. Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent in a miserable way. And after all, if you do really like what you’re doing, it doesn’t matter what it is, you can eventually turn it – you could eventually become a master of it. It’s the only way to become a master of something, to be really with it. And then you’ll be able to get a good fee for whatever it is. So don’t worry too much. That’s everybody is – somebody is interested in everything, anything you can be interested in, you will find others will. But it’s absolutely stupid to spend your time doing things you don’t like, in order to go on spending things you don’t like, doing things you don’t like and to teach our children to follow in the same track. See what we are doing, is we’re bringing up children and educating to live the same sort of lifes we are living. In order that they may justify themselves and find satisfaction in life by bringing up their children to bring up their children to do the same thing, so it’s all retch, and no vomit it never gets there. And so, therefore, it’s so important to consider this question: What do I desire?

Many people on the internet know that money does not provide us with happiness, but many people don’t realize what exactly money does provide us. I think the common things people think money can provide for us is happiness, women, freedom, and self-esteem. And people will lie to you, and say that you need money in order to sell you something. But the truth is, that you don’t need money to achieve a lot of things in life. Like I said in the video, I am someone who has spent the past 2 years travelling the world, while making money online. At first, I was not making a lot of money, only $40,000 dollars per year. Even though I only made $40k per year, I still was very happy, I had success with women, and I had freedom. I think the reason why people tell themselves that money is the answer to all of this, is because it’s a very easy excuse as to why they should not take action. It’s easier to just say “I need money to have confidence” instead of actually sitting down and working on themselves. But don’t get me wrong, I am not saying at all that money is bad, I want money within my own life. I want to provide for my family and provide stability for my self. But I know and understand what money can provide me, and what it cannot provide me, and that is the main point of this video. If you enjoyed this video, please be sure to subscribe!

(Quantum Physics now proves this) We are all governed by a set of Universal Laws, and these laws were created by GOD, to aid us in creating the life we desire. One of these laws is known as the "Law Of Attraction", or the law of "Reaping and Sowing". This law simply states, whatever you give out in Thought, Word, Feeling, and Action is returned to us. Whether the return is negative, or positive, failure or success, is all up to what you give out. Many authors and celebrities such as, Wayne Dyer, Oprah Winfrey, Will Smith, Jim Carrey, Steve Harvey, Rhonda Byrne, and many others have testified to this amazing Law Of Attraction. Its time you learn this wonderful secret... No requirement is necessary. A link will be provided for you once you purchase the gig. You can provide your e mail if you like. You can purchase this audio on Fiverr for only $5 here: I will give you my 1hr long affirmation as a Mp3 Download. Everything that we repeatedly say to ourselves out loud or in our thoughts are an affirmation. The Reticular Activating System (RAS) is a part of our brain that makes words that get repeated over time as part of our identity, positive or negative. Just like sowing seeds in a fruitful garden. When we water and nurture the seeds every day, they will grow (most of them). That´s like repeating an affirmation. If you have a tomato plant seed…you plant that seed…water it (focus)…can you expect to get apples? No of course not. You expect to get tomatoes. That´s how our subconscious mind works. It doesn´t care if you want the seeds you plant to grow. As long as you water and nurture them (affirm repeatedly), they will grow.

You have to pursue a discipline of one form or another to be happy in your life, says Nick Offerman as he explains his life's philosophy and why he loves woodworking. Just don't chase after perfection and learn to love mistakes. Read more at BigThink.com: https://bigthink.com/videos/nick-offerman-what-is-happiness Follow Big Think here: YouTube: http://goo.gl/CPTsV5 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BigThinkdotcom Twitter: https://twitter.com/bigthink Well I often espouse a general philosophy in my life of pursuing a discipline of one sort or another. But it’s not to ever approach any level of perfection. You start, you go in knowing that as human beings we never can achieve perfection, and so I feel like mastery of any skill or art form really more involves becoming much better at covering your mistakes. But no matter how much of a virtuoso a person becomes I feel like if they’re still in the mentality of a student pursuing their discipline then they’ll never finish ripping out a Beethoven symphony or playing a game of basketball and say, “There, I’ve done it. That was the perfect rendition.” Instead what keeps us living and what keeps me vitally engaged is a constant pursuit of betterment. So I gave up on perfect a long time ago, and now I’m just chasing halfway decent. Part of this philosophy I’m talking about came to me naturally. I grew up in a family out in the country in Illinois. Both my mom and dad grew up on farms. I grew up working on my mom’s family’s farms. And so we were very frugal. It was very Little House on the Prairie in the 70s and 80s which means we had a television but we were still raising as much garden as we could and everything – we got this free farmhouse in exchange – my dad had to build some cabinets for this farmer and we hired a guy to roll this house six miles and then we spent our lives there improving it. We painted it every couple of years; we built a little barn. And so I don’t know, just by naturally learning to enrich in my own life through my parent’s activities—I complained about it a lot. I wasn’t a 12 year old saying, “Hey dad, is there something I can dig up for you this weekend?” I was griping like any kid! I wanted to stay in and watch cartoons, and so we would work out a deal. And the thing that I see as a major difference between my childhood and a lot of society today is that we’ve become so good at comforting ourselves. Consumer luxury has become sort of a given. In most walks of life in this country you can choose to live a life of ease where you never have to really try very hard. You can cruise through school as long as you get passing grades. You can get some job with which you can cover your living expenses and that allows you to just watch TV, play video games, to amuse yourself, to engage in leisure all of the time you’re not earning your living. And to a certain frame of mind that might sound attractive. But I’ve kind of tried it at times. A lot of marijuana was also involved in my particular formula, and I quickly learned that it’s depressing. I don’t know, for me I quickly thought, “What are you doing with your life? Are you just going to watch cool movies… and then die?” Again to a certain part of the id I think that sounds like a great idea. “Let’s just hang out and watch The Big Lebowski over and over.” But for me thankfully because of my chemistry I came to understand that even if I wasn’t succeeding, even if I was making woodworking projects in an alley in Los Angeles 25 years ago, I was improving.

Research by Nobel-winning psychologist Daniel Kahneman found that increasing income level does increase happiness but only up until about $75 000. After that more money just brings … more money! But even under $75 000, money is not nearly as important as something else. Researchers at University of California University asked groups of people who knew one another to fill out a questionnaire about their level of income and happiness. They found that those with more wealth were no happier then those with less. This came as a surprise. For a long time we’ve known that money doesn’t sustainably boost happiness – watch the Human Experiment episode on “How to be happier than a lottery winner” to see why. But psychologists still believed that socioeconomic status mattered. Your socioeconomic status measures the amount of success and money you have in comparison to those close to you. The theory was that if a close friend or family member had a nicer car or home that could create envy. Yet surprisingly this didn’t have much bearing on happiness. The revelation came when researchers asked people to rate how much they respected and admired one another. Here they found a direct connection. The more admired and respected a student, the happier she was. Psychologists call this sociometric status – the degree to which someone is liked or disliked by their peer group. To boost your happiness, you don’t need more money what you need is to be more liked and respected. How do you do that? People like people who are givers. Get engaged with your peer group, contribute, add value. The key to happiness is not getting, it’s giving. For more go to www.justinpresents.com

It is impossible for man's happiness to consist in wealth. For wealth is twofold, as the Philosopher says (Polit. i, 3), viz. natural and artificial. Natural wealth is that which serves man as a remedy for his natural wants: such as food, drink, clothing, cars, dwellings, and such like, while artificial wealth is that which is not a direct help to nature, as money, but is invented by the art of man, for the convenience of exchange, and as a measure of things salable. Now it is evident that man's happiness cannot consist in natural wealth. For wealth of this kind is sought for the sake of something else, viz. as a support of human nature: consequently it cannot be man's last end, rather is it ordained to manas to its end. Wherefore in the order of nature, all such things are below man, and made for him, according to Psalm 8:8: "Thou hast subjected all things under his feet." And as to artificial wealth, it is not sought save for the sake of natural wealth; since man would not seek it except because, by its means, he procures for himself the necessaries of life. Consequently much less can it be considered in the light of the last end. Therefore it is impossible for happiness, which is the last end of man, to consist in wealth. --- The desire for natural riches is not infinite: because they suffice for nature in a certain measure. But the desire for artificial wealth is infinite, for it is the servant of disordered concupiscence, which is not curbed, as the Philosopher makes clear (Polit. i, 3). Yet this desire for wealth is infinite otherwise than the desire for the sovereign good. For the more perfectly the sovereign good is possessed, the more it is loved, and other things despised: because the more we possess it, the more we know it. Hence it is written (Sirach 24:29): "They that eat me shall yet hunger." Whereas in the desire for wealth and for whatsoever temporal goods, the contrary is the case: for when we already possess them, we despise them, and seek others: which is the sense of Our Lord's words (John 4:13): "Whosoever drinketh of this water," by which temporal goods are signified, "shall thirst again." The reason of this is that we realize more their insufficiency when we possess them: and this very fact shows that they are imperfect, and the sovereign good does not consist therein. ST I-II, Q2. ★ Subscribe ACTUALLY HAPPENED https://bit.ly/2J5HP7j This is Clara, and this is a story about how she learned to say “no” to people! Clara had always been a hard-working student. Her classmates knew this well, and they frequently asked for her help. She didn’t mind doing so – in fact she was happy to! Sometimes they asked to copy her homework or help with a test, and she said yes, because she always thought that you should help your friends. The only problem was that they didn’t see her as their friend! Her class had several groups of friends who regularly hung out together, but none of them even invited her to meet up with them. And even if they organized a big party, they usually “forgot” to invite her. Understandably, this bothered Clara, because at school at least half of her classmates asked her to help them one way or another during the day. As soon as they’d finished, however, they were gone – and didn’t even want to talk to her. And then when a group project came along, everybody would try to be in the same group with her but they wouldn’t do anything for the project, letting her to do everything but still getting a good grade. She still kept on helping them though, because she thought that one day they would see just how useful she was to them and never said “no”, but that day never came. In fact, the opposite happened – her classmates noticed and talked to her less and less. Clara then thought to herself, “Maybe if I politely explain my point of view, they’ll understand!” So the next time the most popular guy in her class, Jack, asked her to do his homework for him, she said “hey Jack, I think you should try doing it yourself, because I don’t have time for it today.” She thought it would work, but he started trying to force her to do his homework for him by saying things like “come on, Clara, don’t be like that, we’re friends, right?” She wanted to say no, but instead, she ended up doing his homework for him. She desperately wanted to stand up to them, she couldn’t go to a teacher, because that would mean she was a snitch. So she kept on doing tasks for them. One day, they had a group assignment to do, and of course, Jack was the first to raise his hand to be with her – and Clara, again, couldn’t say no. It seemed that Jack assumed she would just do everything herself, so he didn’t even bother to talk to her about the assignment. But this time she really didn’t want to do all of the work, because she had a lot of other assignments, and well...it was meant to be done by two! So she texted Jack, because it was easier than talking to him in person. She said that he should do 50 percent of the work because she wouldn’t be able to do it alone. He texted “ok”, and she was happy. But it turned out to be all a lie, because the next day he came up to her and said “hey, I’ve been really busy lately and I can’t work on the project, can you help?” At first I said “Jack, I'm also busy...”, but he kept saying “please, please” every time she objected, so she agreed. AGAIN! Then, the next Friday evening, she saw Jack’s photos from social media, and he had been partying! And by that time she had already done her half of the project, and they had to present it by Tuesday, so she wrote to Jack that it was unfair to her and that he should finish his half. She then sent him what she had already done. He read the message but didn’t answer. Monday came, and Jack told her: “sorry, I didn’t have any time to do the project, can you do it?” She really wanted to say yes, but she controlled herself and finally said “no”. He started to say that she had promised and that it wasn’t fair, and though it was scary, she managed to say “no” again! He then got angry and insulted her, but she just kept saying “no”. In the end, he said “you know that we’ll fail the project if you don’t do it?”, and she just said “yes”. Then when he walked away, he said once more that she ought to do it. Tuesday came, and Clara hadn’t done Jack’s half out of principle, though he was really sure she had – although she didn’t understand why, because she had said “no” to him multiple times! She presented her half and Jack was sitting there, getting a bit nervous. She then said “now it’s Jack’s turn”. He got up to present, made a few sounds like “uhm...mmm…”. The teacher was looking at him, very annoyed, and some classmates who didn’t like Jack giggled. They got a bad grade, but it was worth it, because Clara had finally stood up for herself and learned to say “no”. Jack was super angry at her, but some other guys and girls actually came to her and said that it was kinda cool (they realized she’d done it on purpose). It turned out that a lot of people disliked Jack, because he was very pushy and full of himself. After that, it was a bit easier to say “no” to others. She still helps those who appreciate it, but never people who treat her without any respect! Music by Epidemic Sound: https://www.epidemicsound.com

Grant Cardone: You ever heard somebody say? "money won't make you happy." Oh, ok, ok, it won't. huh? That means what? That means, really when they say that, I'm broke and I'm trying to make sense of it. In fact, very few sense because that's the only thing I know about money. It makes no sense to me anymore. When a person around you, a partner, a friend, an associate, a family member says "money won't make you happy" you need to understand that what that really means is "I've given up on making money, I've tied to make some money, it didn't happen, it was too difficult for me to get, I've given up on the whole idea and now I am trying to make sense of living in this planet without money." In fact, i try to make sense of it all the time, when I go to the grocery store, the bank, when I make my house payment, when I get an electric bill, when I get my car. I'm trying to make sense of not having the things I want. So what do i say? I just make money wring, this is what people do. People do dumb things, they do dumb things and supported with stupid dumb ideas. The salesperson that can't make the sale is like a child that can't get a toy. Can't get the toy so what does the child say? "I didn't want it anyway." See, that's what the person is saying, when they say "money won't make you happy." What they are really saying to you is this "I'm broke, I tried getting money, i couldn't get it and now i'm trying to make sense of not having it. Don't believe it don't buy it, understand this is just some dumb idea that people make up in oder to make sense of something that've happened that didn't need to. Money won't make you happy, money won't make you happy, Nobody thinks it will—Money won't make you happy, I agree with that! But money will give you options, money will solve problems, money can be invented, money can give you choses. Money might not make you happy, but if you're not going to be happy, lets have some money to go with your misery. To see more Grant Cardone go to: GrantCardone.com http://www.grantcardone.com

Sorry, but somebody had to say it. This video focuses on mood depression, not clinical depression. Furthermore, this is not a purported “cure” for depression. This is a call to live in reality, you own depression, depression does not own you. The Sapir Whorf Hypothesis, and General Semantics have illustrated how our words can become our prisons. The labels “Disorder” “Disease” “Depressed,” when internalized, can create a reality filled with suffering that extends beyond the biochemical. Don't get me wrong, "Chemical Imbalances" are real, but that can be a gross oversimplification of what's going on. There's a great article called "Moving Beyond ‘Chemical Imbalance’ Theory of Depression" from the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (https://goo.gl/28UkYk) that I encourage everyone to read. Today i'm talking about why money will never make you happy. "Does money equal happiness?" is a famous debate that has probably been discussed since the dawn of time but money was never designed to satisfy us. The more we worship it, the more we lose ourselves and our own identity trying to chase it. I'm not saying money is bad, but we need to make sure we stay humble and have get perspective on our lives so that we can use our finances wisely and efficiently. What's up my people! Thanks or engaging with my content, here's how you can catch up with me on social media VLOGGING CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMF1gu7mqm6ITlujmycjlzA MUSIC CHANNEL: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtn2Xqee79opqQFJbl9QrJg INSTAGRAM: @JamarlBilly TWITTER: @JamarlBilly SOUNDCLOUD: https://soundcloud.com/user-936959108 Opening credit visuals by Graham Robinson: www.iamchangingtheworld.fun

I imagined myself having everything I want materially speaking. I could clearly feel that it wouldn't make me happier than I am now. Why ? Because what actually would make me happier is stuff money can't really buy : health, friends, contribution, compassion, creativity, confidence, an abundant mindset. These are the things I'd like to have, money wouldn't change much to that. I think money isn't bad at all. It's just not going to make me happier. I also think that it's important not to have limiting beliefs about money, because money can unlock other things in life, like more freetime and more freedom to move, if done well. I think we're more likely to attract money in our lives by realizing that it won't make us happier and also that it should be normal to not be financially limited. A nice synchronicity while tiping this ! The song I'm listening to just said : "I can't help the poor if I stay poor myself" haha. #moneydoesntbuyhappiness#moneyisnteverything#moneyisnormal -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ► Subscribe to my channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRxxuDVS0-ljiD6iojOSJRA?sub_confirmation=1 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Follow Me Online Here: https://www.instagram.com/tourneurlouis/ https://twitter.com/louis_tourneur

"Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)", often shortened to "Inner City Blues", is a song by Marvin Gaye, released as the third and final single from and the climactic song of his 1971 landmark album, What's Going On. Written by Gaye and James Nyx, the song depicted the ghettos of inner-city America as it discussed how the bleak economic situation would lead to someone wanting to holler and throw ones hands up. The song was recorded in a mellow funk style with Gaye playing piano. Several of the Funk Brothers also contributed, including Eddie "Bongo" Brown, and bassist Bob Babbitt.
