The Best vs. Worst Stock Brokers To Use

Read http://tim.ly/sykesbrokers for more details, but know that it doesn't matter how good you are of a trader, if your broker or prop firm fails and shuts down you lose 100% of your money so I prefer big, safe multi-billion dollar brokers no matter the potential upside of cheaper, smaller brokers #safetyfirst

The Truth About How Stock Brokers Make Money With Your Trades

07:25
Compare stock brokers: http://www.informedtrades.com/f286/ Help InformedTrades grow and continue making videos by making a donation: http://www.informedtrades.com/donate KEY POINTS 1. We are referring to stock brokers in this video. Brokers in other industries are similar, but there may be some differences. 2. Commissions and fees are the most straightforward way that brokers make money. In addition to commissions charged per trade -- which can vary based on the size of the order, how it is placed (via phone or online), as well as what securities are being traded -- some brokers can charge fees if the account falls below a minimum required amount; fees for withdrawal; fees for transferring to another brokerage account; inactivity fees if the account does not meet a minimum number of trades. Understanding all the various fees can help traders understand the direct cost they will experience. 3. Cash that is sitting in trading accounts and not deployed into positions can earn interest. Some brokers will keep all of this interest, while other brokers will give a portion to clients. In any event, this is a source of revenue for brokers, and is one that often comes at the expense of traders.Traders can diligently manage their idle cash by ensuring it is deployed in interest-yielding money market funds that also meet their liquidity needs (though such funds will not be FDIC insured, and may have other nuances that are important to traders). 4. Brokers also earn revenue by lending capital to customers who seek to put on margin trades. In such scenarios, traders are borrowing capital from their broker -- at interest -- to put on trades; the more they borrow and the longer the duration of their borrowing, the more the broker earns in interest from making the loan. 5. Short selling is another source of revenue for brokerage firms. Customers who short shares pay a fee to the owner of the stock that is lending them the shares. Shares purchased via a brokerage and not transferred to DRS are held in the broker's name, and thus it is the broker -- not their client who paid for the shares -- who earns revenue when these shares are lent out to shorts (typically without much in the form of notifying the buyer). If this topic is unclear, please see our video street registration vs. direct registration, which explains the nuances of share ownership in greater detail. 6. Last but certainly not least is payment for order flow, a practice in which brokers are compensated for sending their orders to other firms -- typically high frequency trading firms -- who can use this information to inform their own positions, and identify arbitrage opportunities. This practice is controversial because it may result in the brokers' clients getting a worse fill on their order, which ultimately results in a higher transaction cost. At least in the United States, brokers in the are required to disclose if they are paid for order flow -- and so examining their contracts and speaking to their representatives maybe worthwhile for trades concerned about how brokers are routing their orders.

How to Spot Investment Scams in 6 Simple Steps

03:04
Watch more Client Videos videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/496912-How-to-Spot-Investment-Scams-in-6-Simple-Steps Investment fraud criminals use a wide array of sophisticated and highly effective tactics to get people to part with their money. Learn how to spot those techniques -- and help protect not just yourself, but friends, neighbors, and family members. Step 1: Verify credentials Don't assume a salesperson is legitimate just because they have a fancy title or a corner office with framed certificates; fraudsters hope that if they look successful, you won't bother checking their credentials. Investment professionals -- like brokers, investment advisers, and insurance agents -- must be registered with regulators, such as the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, the Securities and Exchange Commission, or your state securities or insurance regulator. Tip You can verify a salesperson's credentials at "SaveAndInvest.org":http://www.saveandinvest.org/. Step 2: Be wary of "phantom riches" Be wary of an investment pitch that guarantees a certain return or promises spectacular profits -- what fraud-fighters call "phantom riches." No legitimate salesperson can make those kinds of promises. An ethical broker will admit that every investment involves risk. Step 3: Ignore the "everyone is doing it" angle Don't be swayed by a seller's claim that everyone from their mother to their mechanic is in on the deal. A pitch that focuses on who and how many people are invested, rather than why the investment is sound, should be viewed with skepticism. And beware of "affinity fraud" -- investment scams that prey upon members of the same social circle, religious group, ethnic background, or other affiliation, such as servicemembers returning from deployments. Tip Contact your chain of command and/or Staff Judge Advocate if you suspect that you are being targeted in an investment fraud scheme. Step 4: Refuse to be rushed Refuse to be rushed into anything. If the salesperson says it's a limited time offer, or that there's a limited supply of whatever's being peddled, consider it a red flag: the seller is attempting to make the investment look valuable by implying it's in scarce supply due to great demand. Step 5: Never feel obligated Never feel obligated to make an investment because the seller gives you something free; salespeople count on those freebies to guilt you into reciprocating. Step 6: Arm yourself with information Further educate yourself about fraud tactics so you can protect yourself and your loved ones. Go to "SaveAndInvest.org":http://www.saveandinvest.org/ for more information, including the free Outsmarting Investment Fraud tool kit and documentary -- because knowing how to recognize investment fraud red flags is the best way to avoid falling victim to them. Did You Know? Investment fraud victims are more likely to be male, live with one or more people, be married, earn more than $30,000 per year, and have at least a college degree.

Business English Vocabulary: The Stock Market

13:38
http://www.engvid.com Learn business English vocabulary: Whether you are investing in a bull or a bear market, you should know the common terms and expressions that stock brokers and mutual fund managers will use to discuss your options. In this lesson, we will go over some of the more common terms you will need to familiarize yourself with if you want to become rich. Playing the stock market is a risky business, so be prepared! http://www.engvid.com/business-english-vocabulary-stock-market/ TRANSCRIPT Hi again. I'm Adam. Welcome back to www.engvid.com. Today we're going to look at some business English, with an introduction to investing. Now, what is investing? Investing is putting your money someplace with the hope that more money will come back to you later. Okay? So it's making money over time. Many ways to do it, but today we're going to look more specifically at the stock market. Now, before we begin to look at the stock market, we need to know all the different words that you will find in the stock market discussion. Of course, we have to look at "stocks". So: "stocks" and "shares". Now, many people get confused: what is a stock? What is a share? Realistically, these are basically the same thing, but subtle differences between the two. So, when a company decides that it wants to make money, so it can expand its business, it wants to raise capital. "Capital", it's a big word, there's lots of meanings to it. We're going to look at that a different time. But for our case, "capital" means money. They want to make money, they want to raise capital so they can grow their business. So what they do is they sell stock. Stock is a partial ownership of the company. So when you buy stock, you get a piece of paper, you get a certificate that says that you own part of this company. And because you own part of the company, you have certain rights. You can make... You can vote for changes, you can vote for things that the company should do. Now, what is a share? A share is an equal piece of the stock. So, for example, a company sells $100 worth of stock. That's the full amount of the ownership that the company makes available to the public. Now, this stock, this total amount, they divide into 100 shares. Okay? So you buy as many shares as you want of this stock. So because you have 100 shares, the full stock is $100. Each share is, of course, $1. You buy 10 shares, that mean... That means you're buying 10% of the available stock. You're buying $10 worth of shares. Now, you own stock, you own shares in the company. In that case, it's the same thing. Now, when you talk about stocks, you can say: "I own stocks." So let's go to this word quickly: "portfolio". Your portfolio is the collection of your investments. You may have stocks, you may have mutual funds, you may have bonds, you may have commodities, you may have real estate. You may have all kinds of different investments. If part of your portfolio is stocks, you say: "I have some stocks." It means I can have five company's stocks. But when you say: "I have shares", then you have shares of a company. Okay? I have stocks in 10 different companies. I have shares... I have 10% or I have 100 shares in this company, I have 50 shares in that company, I have 2,000 shares in that company. But all together, you have stock. Okay? So it's a total amount of the companies that you own. Now, if you want to buy stocks or trade stocks, if you want to buy and sell your shares, you can contact a "stockbroker". Okay? A broker is somebody who deals with trades; buys, sells stocks on the stock market. These days, you can just go online and find a "brokerage" which is a website or a company that lets you buy and sell your own stocks and shares. Okay. Next: we have "IPO", this is "Initial Public Offering". Sorry I'm a little bit off line, here. When a company decides: "Okay, we need to make more money. We need to raise capital. We need to sell some stock of our company." So the first time that they sell this stock, there's a big event, you know, like it's a big promotion, they have to market it, they have to tell the public: "Look, we're going to sell stock. Get ready." This is the initial public offering. The first time that they sell stock. We actually don't say: "Sell". They don't sell stock; they issue stock. And then the stock brokerage or the stockbrokers, they buy and sell the stock. Next: "ROI". This is a very important thing to consider. "Return On Investment". Before you buy anything, before you invest your money in anything, you always have to consider your ROI. How much money do you hope to get back? How much money do you think you will get back? Because at the end of the day, a stock market is a gamble. There's high-risk and there's low-risk companies. Your return on investment, obviously, you're hoping to make money. You hope to get a positive yield.

Investing For Beginners | Advice On How To Get Started

23:03
FREE COURSE To Start Your Online Business: http://projectlifemastery.com/freecourse/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=free-course-promo&utm_term=investing-for-beginners&utm_content=lc-youtube-description In this video, Stefan talks about investing for beginners, and gives advice on how to get started. In particular, he highlights five investment success principles. When Stefan was 18 years old, he read a finance book called, "The Wealthy Barber”, by David Chilton. After reading this book, he realized that the most important thing that he could do was to start investing as soon as possible. The Best Brokerage to Make Investments With

01:58
Hey, it’s Alexis Assadi. In this video, I’m going to discuss the best brokerages to use when you make investments. To begin, a brokerage is used to connect people and companies who want to sell publicly-traded investments, like stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, derivatives, commodities and forex, with those who want to buy them. You log into your brokerage account online, search for the investment in question, select how much you want to buy or sell, and then click “buy” or “sell.” The brokerage receives your order and then tries to make the trade at market price. The brokerage also serves as a mechanism for the companies you own to contact you, if there are matters to be voted on, etc. Further, any payments you receive from your investment will be deposited into your brokerage account. You typically pay a commission each time you make a trade. There are sometimes initial, quarterly or annual fees, too. There are a couple of firms that are free, like Robin Hood, in the USA. Some brokerages provide research, analyses and advice about various investments, while others perform basic brokerage services. How much they do for you is typically, but not always, reflected in price. In my experience, I have not found a major difference between brokerages. I like to use mainstream, inexpensive companies. I pay about $10 per trade and have no account maintenance fees. In fact, many companies charge half of that. It’s a competitive business, so you might want to look out for discounts and promotions. They’ll sometimes give you 20 free trades, for instance, if you sign up with them. Here are just a few reputable brokers in different countries: In the USA, you have: Charles Schwab Ally Financial ETrade Fidelity Interactive Brokers And TD Ameritrade In Canada, you have: Questrade Interactive Brokers And any bank-owned brokerage In Australia, you have: CommSec Westpac HSBC And CMC Markets In the UK, you have: Barclays TD Direct And Fidelity International Go for a well-known online broker in your country that provides the service you want (discount vs. full service, what securities and markets they trade, etc.). Then, select the cheapest option, while keeping in mind any promotions at the time. Note that you usually can’t buy private or exempt market investments through online brokerages. To learn how to achieve financial freedom through entrepreneurship and investing, watch my 2-minute video at AlexisAssadi.net/free-video.

How to Find the BEST Penny Stock Brokers

05:49
What are the best penny stock, brokers? What are the worst brokers? I've tried them all... SUBSCRIBE: https://bit.ly/2MDNeVq to get INSTANT alerts when I post a new video outlining my penny stock trading techniques.* I've had dozens of brokers in my life, maybe even hundreds at this point. I think I've probably tracked over 100 because I tried different brokers for different things. In the past, I've made money going long penny stocks, buying them. Lately, I've been dip buying them, so for that strategy, pretty much any broker is fine. I use E-Trade and Interactive Brokers, but you can use Schwab, or Fidelity, or TD Ameritrade, or even Scott Trade for dip buying penny stocks, because it frankly just doesn't matter. You want a big, well-known broker that has decent executions, very little commissions, and you know, basically does the job of what a broker should do. I would caution you, though, even if you are taking one of these brokerage accounts, don't over trade, okay? I also would caution you against using a prop firm, or these hedge funds, or Robin Hood. You know, Robin Hood offers no commissions. Everyone's like, oh, I'm saving so much on commissions! But you're getting screwed on terrible execution. So, you're saving $5 or $10 on a commission, and then you're losing $50 or $200 due to bad executions and fewer services than a regular broker. It's just a marketing scheme, so don't fall prey to that. Also, if there are no commissions, you feel no responsibility whatsoever as to how much you should be trading, and I see a lot of people over trading who had Robin Hood accounts because they're like, oh, I'll just put $5 in this stock, I'll see, I'll put $10, I'll put $50, and they're just throwing money out because it's fun, because they like the action. That's a very dangerous thing, okay? You do not want to give into the addiction that the stock market offers you, that trading offers you, that penny stocks offer you. You have to be in control really, so I like the commissions. I don't mind paying commissions. I don't mind paying a lot of commissions if there's a good enough trade, you know? I don't mind paying double commissions if the broker can find me shares to short of a hot penny stock that I think is going to tank. It's all about what is your overall profit and loss. Don't be so cheap as to think you need to save money on commissions. I have never met anybody who became a millionaire based on saving commissions, okay? People become millionaires because they have the right strategy, they have the right process, they have the right discipline. Commissions are, you know, negligent. Commissions are such a small part of the game, but these commission-free brokers appeal to the masses, and they appeal to coupon clippers who think they're going to get rich saving on commissions. You will not get rich that way. Focus on learning useful strategies. Focus on the real things that matter instead of being so cheap. These are like the same kind of people that are so cheap they refuse to invest in their education. The same thing to brokers. Don't cheap out on a broker. It will cost you so much more in the long run. I use E-Trade and Interactive Brokers, two decent brokers, nothing great, nothing outstanding, but it's safe, and frankly, reliable. That's what I think about brokers. You are warned, if you use one of these off-shore brokers, or these hedge funds, or these prop firms, or these startups, you might do a little better in the short run, but in the long run, trust me, it's going to be vastly more expensive. * Results may not be typical and may vary from person to person. Making money trading stocks takes time, dedication, and hard work. There are inherent risks involved with investing in the stock market, including the loss of your investment. Past performance in the market is not indicative of future results. Any investment is at your own risk. See Terms of Service here: https://www.timothysykes.com/terms-of-service/.

Online share-trading platforms allow private investors to handle their own trades. An attractive idea to many investors who like to keep an eye on the market. Various platforms are available to South African traders. Some investors enjoy the near real-time trading, but others complain that these platforms often have time-delays that prevent them from getting the deals that they are after. How To Invest In Dividend Stocks With DRIPs and DSPs (Dividend Reinvestment Plans)

24:37
In the world of dividend investing and personal finance, I truly believe that dividend reinvestment plans (DRIPs) and direct stock purchase plans (DSPs) are incredibly underrated. While new technologies often get the spotlight, these old school stock investment vehicles are incredibly innovative, in my opinion. In today's video, learn why DRIPs can be beneficial for both new and seasoned dividend stock investors. And, learn how to get started! At the end of the day, I get a lot of questions here on my YouTube channel about fees and commissions. It seems like all investors want to minimize fees. I also receive questions about getting started. Many feel that they just don't have enough money to start investing in dividend stocks. In my opinion, dividend reinvestment plans remove all barriers. They reduce (and often eliminate) fees, while bringing accessibility to smaller investors. Today's video shares the pros and cons of dividend reinvestment plans! Some of the pros discussed include: * Holding stock in your name (versus the street name, in the case of a stock brokerage). * They can be free! In the case of General Mills, for example, their DRIP charges no fees for purchasing stock (other than the $15 1-time setup fee). * DRIPs make it easy to dollar cost average, one of my favorite investing strategies of all time. * DRIPs allow one to buy fractional shares, a critical component of my dividend investing strategy. (One is hard pressed to find other avenues that make it so easy to purchase fractional shares of stock.) * As the name implies, DRIPs allow one to reinvest their dividends, accelerating their portfolio value. * They keep one "in the game". * They are easy! Of course, there are some cons with DRIPs as well: * Trades can be (very) slow. If one needs to time the market, DRIPs are just not going to work well. By contrast, such plans are great for "buy and hold" long-term investors, like myself. * Fees can change over time. While a DRIP can be "free" right now, fees could pop up. It's important to watch the fee schedule very closely. * Bookkeeping is a bit more involved when one makes regular purchases and reinvests dividends. (This really pertains to the dividend growth investing strategy overall.) In my opinion, if more people knew about dividend reinvestment plans, they would not be so scared to start investing. Worth noting, today's video also goes into the specific example of General Mills (ticker: GIS). This DRIP, other than the $15 setup fee, changes no fees for buying stock nor reinvesting dividends. (All fees are paid by the company on behalf of the shareholders.) Run by EQ (formerly Wells Fargo Shareholder Services), General Mills is the poster child of a great dividend reinvestment plan. As mentioned in the video today, I recently purchased General Mills. Want to learn why? Here's my General Mills dividend stock analysis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z12Ac83Nz0Q Mentioned in today's video, here's one of my earlier videos on DRIPs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWdptrcEKGo Also mentioned, here's my "stay in the game" strategy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPQ3BQP0YFs And, here's how I personally reinvest my dividends: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYjGs5rDMnw Want to reach out? 21. Exchanges, Brokers, Dealers, Clearinghouses

01:09:22
Financial Markets (2011) (ECON 252) As the starting point for this lecture, Professor Shiller contrasts the view of economics as the theory of the allocation of scarce resources with the view of economics as the study of exchange. After a discussion of the difference between brokers and dealers, he outlines the history of securities exchanges from ancient Rome, to the Amsterdam Stock Exchange and Jonathan's Coffee House in London, until the formation of the New York Stock Exchange. He complements this historic account with an overview of securities exchanges all over the world, covering India, China, Brazil, and Mexico. An example of a limit order book allows him to elaborate on the mechanics of trading at the National Association of Securities Dealers Automatic Quotation System (NASDAQ). Subsequently, he turns his attention to the growing importance of program trading and high frequency trading, but also discusses their impact on the stock market crash from October 19, 1987, as well as on the Flash Crash from May 6, 2010. When talking about fairness in financial markets, particularly with regard to the relation between private investors and brokers, he discusses the National Market System (NMS), the Intermarket Trading System (ITS), and consolidated quotation systems. He concludes this lecture with some reflections on the operations of dealers, addressing the role of inside information and the Gambler's Ruin problem. 00:00 - Chapter 1. Exchange as the Key Component of Economic Activity 05:50 - Chapter 2. Brokers vs. Dealers 12:25 - Chapter 3. History of Stock Exchanges around the World 24:28 - Chapter 4.
