Today I'm sharing the simple healthy eating habits that I use every day. These are the eating habits I use to stay healthy. I don't prescribe to a diet to be healthy or lose weight because I think it's restrictive and isn't something that is easy to stick to. I'm OK eating fats, sugars, and calories, but it's just about doing it in a healthier way. So, these healthy eating habits are something you can easily adopt in your everyday eating. IMPORTANT: I want to note this isn't all about weight loss. I'm not saying I was overweight before at all. But, I wasn't eating healthy or nourishing my body. I ate unhealthy portions and unhealthy foods. Including beans in your kid's regular diet will ensure they get the right amount of energy and nutrients. Beans like garbanzo beans, soybeans, dried peas, lentils etc. are very healthy. Fish Fish is known for its omega-3 fat content which can boost brain development in children and improve their eyesight. Include fishes like salmon and tuna to your kid's diet regularly.

Baked blueberry pecan oatmeal for breakfast, Asian pesto curry for lunch and almond crusted parmesan tilapia for dinner… (I just made those titles up, by the way, but they really do all sound fabulous.) Just do a quick Pinterest search for “Paleo Recipes” and prepare to be overwhelmed. I love a good crispy coconut chicken with squash and parmesan fritters as much as the next person, but maybe for a Saturday night special dinner, or a night when I have a little extra time to spend in the kitchen… Which is pretty much never. I am a mom of four small kids! If you think you need to make Paleo safe coconut tortillas for every meal, that plan isn’t something sustainable . No wonder people limit their healthy eating attempts to 30 days. Eating real food can feel so overwhelming when we hold ourselves to these standards! What ever happened to good old fashioned meat, vegetables and herbs? Back when my grandma was a mother of young children, I imagine she cooked a whole chicken, baked potatoes and maybe served it all with a biscuit and canned jam. No fancy recipes. Just real food. Meal planning stresses me out, my friends. If you have a Type A personality, and thrive in environments with plans and rigid structure, you should probably stop reading this post now. I think meal planning is a fabulous option for you. I am NOT against meal planning. I am talking to the moms who actually feel burdened and stressed by the idea. I tried meal planning. Really, I did. I sat there for hours, on Pinterest, with my pen and notepad in hand, one night per week. I sifted through as many popular healthy eating boards as I could find. I wound up with an almost full bottle of rice vinegar, half a can of tomato paste and rotting herbs all stashed in the back of my fridge. Ok I don’t remember exactly what happened, but I know I ended up buying a bunch of crap I don’t normally use, just so I could follow the recipes. I like the freedom and creativity that not having a plan allows for me. I can fill up my cart “on a whim” with organic peppers, when I see the store has them on sale for $1.99. When chanterelle mushrooms are in season, and we forage a grocery sack full, I want to incorporate them into everything. If 13 dozen organic eggs are marked down, because they are about to expire, I am going to snag them up, and throw the meal plan out the window on the way home. Egg salad, anyone? In the summer we eat lots of tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchini, because I find them cheap at the local produce stand. Would you believe I also go to the store without a list? *Gasp* And, trust me, its not as reckless as it sounds. I will share with you my 5 tips for having healthy meals every night without a plan. 1. Always have meat thawing in the refrigerator. I keep a glass 9 X 13 pan in the fridge for thawing meat. When I only have a few dinners worth of thawed meat in it, I will restock it with a whole chicken, two pounds of ground beef and a couple of steaks. If you have meat thawed out, you are less than an hour from a meal at all times. Is throwing a whole chicken and five sweet potatoes in the oven really that much harder than throwing a pre-made pizza in? 2. Do a little prep work when you have extra time. If you’re a person who likes to ferment things, like me, spending some time on a Saturday to make up a few gallons of sauerkraut, will reward you richly in having a side dish ready to go. It turns out it’s not so simple and some of the most promoted and popular foods can, in fact, harm you. Never eat these 10 dangerous foods for the sake of your own health and the health of your family. Even if you see the juice labels “not from concentrate” or “100% pure”, don't let this fool you. Juice, after being squeezed from different fruits, is kept in huge vacuum-sealed tanks where it can sit for up to a year before being packaged! And by that time, the juice has lost all its flavor, which is why manufacturers have to add artificial flavoring to make it taste fruity again. In most cases, cereals are loaded with refined carbohydrates and sugar. Even if the label assures you that it's fat-free and whole grain, check the list of ingredients. You'll most likely see that the product is full of sugar. Despite common belief, most yogurts don't contain probiotic bacteria since the process of pasteurization kills all these microorganisms. When consumed, trans-fats in ice-cream can cause high cholesterol, stroke, heart disease, and even cancer. Ice cream is also loaded with sugar, artificial flavors, and synthetic preservatives. And if it’s pink, purple, or red, it’s most likely been colored with cochineal extract or carmine, additives which can cause bad allergic reactions. Popcorn has some genetically modified ingredients as well as taste-boosting chemicals and additives. This leads to health problems such as heart attacks, digestive issues, allergies, skin rashes, breathing problems, and the depressing list goes on. Even more, popcorn is extremely caloric. Simple recipes with cheese for everyone There is no denying that cheese is delicious, especially when it comes to cooking with cheese. There are limitless recipes you can try with all different varieties of cheese, such as mozzarella, parmesan cheese or cheddar cheese. Since it is such a delicious ingredient for cooking and filled with protein we created some simple and delicious recipes with cheese that can try right away. In addition, we included some bonus cooking hacks and tips to make your time in the kitchen more enjoyable. 1. Simplest macaroni and cheese recipe. If you are at work or would like to have macaroni and cheese as a snack instead of making a huge pot of food. Try this little trick that will literally take you 3 minutes to make this meal. In a mug, add a scoop of pasta, then, add the adequate amount of water and microwave for 2 minutes. Stir it really well and make sure there is no more water left in the mug. Then add some milk and cheese and stir until the cheese into the mug and Bon Appetite. 2. Delicious cheese toastie recipe If you would like to have a nice cheese toast fast but you don't own a grill, don't let that stop you. Apply some butter on a slice of bread on both sides, then, add two slices of cheddar cheese and then another slice of bread with butter spread on it. Then, place your sandwich in a kitchen foil and seal it. After that, take your clothing iron and place it on top of the toastie for a couple of minutes max, then turn it and press the other side as well with your clothing iron and, there you have it. 3. DIY cheddar sticks This might as well be the most delicious treat in the whole world. Take a block of cheddar cheese and cut it in rectangular blocks. Place one wooden stick in each block. Then, dip it into flour, after that dip it into an egg wash, and finally in breadcrumbs. Lastly, boil some oil and fry your cheesy sticks. Enjoy with some ketchup or the sauce of your choice. 4. Oil Hack! Instead of accidentally pouring excess oil on your food or your frying pan. Pour some oil in a clean spray bottle and start spraying. This way you'll be able to monitor how much oil you consume and also keep your meals healthier. 5.How to make your own iced coffee Make your filter coffee, or your espresso, or your instant coffee with hot water as you would normally do with or without sugar. (Do Not add milk). Then pour it into your ice tray and place it in the freezer. When it's time for you to have a nice glass of iced coffee, instead of running to the closest coffee shop, just take 5-6 cubes of the iced coffee you prepared, place them in a glass with some milk or water and stir. We all know the importance of eating healthy, but not everyone knows that the cookware you use to prepare your dishes is just as important as the food itself. Even the healthiest diet can result in severe health problems if your pots and pans are toxic. Find out which cookware you should avoid by all means for the sake of your own health and the health of your family. The non-stick properties of Teflon cookware are achieved with a coating of PTFE. This is a plastic polymer that, when heated above 572°F, starts to release toxins. These toxic fumes lead to flu-like symptoms called polymer fume fever, informally known as Teflon flu. Another chemical compound found in Teflon cookware is especially threatening since it tends to stay in the body (as well as in the environment) for long periods of time. Try cast-iron cookware instead. It even comes in non-stick varieties. It doesn't leak anything toxic into your food and is actually a nice natural way to increase your body’s iron levels. Though aluminum cookware is usually coated, the coating is prone to chipping, allowing the toxic metal to get right into your food. As for aluminum foil, using it while cooking is even more dangerous. In fact, there’s an established safe amount of aluminum the human body can manage daily, and that’s 20 mg per pound of body weight a day. When you wrap your food in aluminum foil and cook it this way, the amount of this substance that leaks into the food significantly exceeds the permissible level. Consider using glass cookware instead. If you’ve just enjoyed some fish in lemon juice or stewed tomatoes cooked in an uncoated copper pot and you find yourself suffering from extremely unpleasant symptoms (such as vomiting blood, light-headedness, yellowy skin, or gastrointestinal distress, among others) call 911 immediately. Try this safe alternative instead: stainless steel. Just make sure you're buying food-grade stainless steel since this is the only type that doesn't contain any nickel or chromium. Soft ceramic coating isn't durable enough and starts chipping after a few months of daily use. When this happens, lead and cadmium sometimes found in the coating will end up in your food and, thus, in your body. Lead poisoning is one of the most dangerous types of metal poisoning and can result in abdominal pain, headaches, infertility, and other health complications. Try this safe alternative instead: 100% ceramic cookware. It’ll never release anything toxic when heated, it doesn’t hold onto any old flavors or odors, and it's not only durable but also eco-friendly. -Copper cookware, especially when it isn’t coated, can easily send you to the ER with a bad case of metal poisoning. And that’s because it can release copper when you cook acidic foods. Stainless steel is a great cookware option: it's relatively lightweight, scratch-resistant, and comes in non-stick varieties. -Soft ceramic coating isn't durable enough and starts chipping after a few months of daily use. When this happens, lead and cadmium sometimes found in the coating will end up in your food and, thus, in your body. Try this safe alternative instead: 100% ceramic cookware. I Ate One Meal a Day For a Month, See What Happened to Me

Can you eat just one meal a day? The human body can survive without a bite of food for up to 3 weeks. Of course, it’s a different story with water; you wouldn’t last more than 3 or 4 days without it! You and I both know that people are expected to eat 3 full meals a day: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Depending on how filling those meals are, you may squeeze in a few snacks here and there. It usually takes about 4 hours after each meal for your belly to start making those too-often-than-not embarrassingly monstrous growls, reminding you that it’s time for your next meal! But with different diets and fasting gaining popularity, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen to my body if I ate just one meal every day for 30 days. I did it, and here’s what I got out of it! There aren’t too many strict guidelines to this diet. You can essentially eat any foods you want and as much as you want, as long as it’s during your one singular meal of the day. - Unlike a lot of other diets, there are no special ingredients involved and no annoying calorie counting. If you want French fries, have French fries! If you’re craving a big bowl of spaghetti, go for it! - If weight loss is a goal of yours, it’s important not to overeat during your one meal since it can disrupt the diet’s ability to help you maintain a steady drop in pounds. - After trying it for a couple of days, I found that my body quickly adjusted to this way of eating, and my appetite really wasn’t that raging. This must be because my stomach probably shrank after a few days, so I felt satisfied with just one meal a day. - For the first couple days, my stomach was definitely feeling hunger pangs. It started with stomach growls and ended with painful cramping. - For the first week, I just wanted to lie on the couch and Netflix and chill all day long. My energy was super low, and I felt so lethargic. - After the 30 days, I found that I’d actually dropped a few pounds! I felt pretty awesome not only because I’d gotten leaner and felt healthier, but I was also really proud of myself for sticking to a diet that I easily could’ve given up on. - One of the main concerns I found online was the fact that women and men respond differently to this type of intermittent fasting. Women have a stronger need for iron in their diet. - I also read up on different studies. One of them was conducted in 2017 by researchers at the University of Saskatchewan. They found that the one meal a day diet can be helpful for people suffering from type 2 diabetes since it helps with weight loss and reducing blood sugar levels. - Other studies have shown that it can really help increase the lifespan in people with obesity. - It just a super specific thing that each person should check with their doctor to see if they can do it safely. A lot of people swear by it, and I’m happy with the weight loss results I got.
