Gold and Oil are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to commodities. In this video David Jones explains what the three main groups are and what factors influence them the most. Energy, precious metals and agricultural products are what make the world function. They are its lifeblood and vital organs. Because of this importance they are actually traded often with futures, so that there is a guarantee that they will be there when needed. From politics and weather to disease and speculation, commodities are among the most volatile instruments in the financial world. Their specifics are governed by a wide range of variables and understanding what drives their prices up and down is one of the hardest challenges that traders face. Among the other more popular commodities we have silver, natural gas, wheat, orange juice, cattle. The list is actually quite long and the factors that change their price too. Whether it’s interest rates in the U.S., oil production in Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, or a insect invasion in Southeast Asia, it’s definitely an exciting world to trade in. At Trading 212 we provide an execution only service. This video should not be construed as investment advice. Investments can fall and rise. Capital at risk. CFDs are higher risk because of leverage.

Which markets to trade? Trading Commodities. http://www.contracts-for-difference.com/markets/cfd-markets.html PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! So commodities we have the obvious ones like Gold, Crude Oil, Silver, Cocoa, Coffee, Platinum..etc. There are two types of traded oil; West Texas Intermediate (WTI) which is the USA crude and Brent Blend. Both follow each other closely although they do diverge at times. Traditionally OPEC and global demand dominated the Oil markets but the shale oil industry revolution in the USA is changing the landscape. Gold and Oil are the most common traded commodities - and have quite tight spreads which is good for both swing trading or day trading. Oil has recently experienced some wild moves. Gold has been quiet recently but we've experienced some sharp moves in Gold in the last few years as well. Silver is more volatile than gold although they do tend to follow each other. Copper is a very industrial based markets and depends on the demand in China and emerging markets in particular. The point is that you need to find something that suits you. Commodities like cotton and orange juice for instance are less traded and are likely to have wider spreads. If you are looking to day trade such markets the size of the bid-offer spreads is very important.

For the latest Jim Rogers, go to http://JimRogersBlog.com - In the investment business, Jim Rogers invested in everything both long and short. He came from a rural part of Alabama, but his family weren't farmers. He began investing in commodities because it looked like that was the major bull market at the time. When it was time to invest in commodities at that time, there weren't any proper indexes to invest in. Because of that, Jim Rogers had to sit down and create his own index that reflected the cost to live all around the world. Dow Jones didn't even know that they had a commodities index. You shouldn't put a penny of your money there. At times, the investment banks had huge commitments to commodities. They got out during the 80s and 90s because there was a bear market. Now they are starting to come back. The go to whatever is hot because that is what is easy to sell. In 5, 10, 15 years, they will come back to commodities in a big way. By definition, rising prices is inflation. Central banks are printing huge amounts of money all over the world. There are supply demand imbalances compounded by the central bank printing money. Who knows what will happen at the end of the bull run. At the end of bull markets, things get wild and hysteria. When prices get so extraordinarily high, that will reduce demand, and that is one of the factors that will lead to the end of the bull market. Normally, Jim Rogers has gotten out too soon, because he can see what is happening. But the prices can double very quickly at the end of a bull market. But it is the most dangerous part of the bull market. The US Dollar is a terribly flawed currency. It is going into its demise over the next couple decades. That commodities are traded in dollars will be a factor on their prices. 100 years ago commodities were traded in the Pound Sterling. But that changed, and now they are traded in the dollar. That too will change. India and China have 2.3 billion people, but their economies combined are still only a tenth of the size of the US and Western Europe. So they aren't as big of a factor right now, but that will slowly change.

Subscribe to our channel http://bit.ly/AJSubscribe From Switzerland to the world - they are the giants of commodity trading, but can they shake off the tag of 'modern day slave masters'? This week on Counting the Cost we examine the commodities industry - the very essentials, the raw materials and resources that we simply cannot live without. These are traded all over the globe - everything from oil to copper, sugar to precious minerals. But why has that one region out surpassed the others in the commodities business? And is it possible to regulate the globalised, multi-billion dollar companies which operate within it? At Al Jazeera English, we focus on people and events that affect people's lives. Make sure you understand the commission structure, because the way commodity structures their commissions, it's much different than calling a brokerage firm and buying shares of stock.

www.DeCarleyTrading.com - Stock traders looking to venture into commodities often opt for the most convenient form of price exposure, commodity ETFs. Others who have done their homework might choose to trade futures on a low leverage basis but do so in their stock trading account. In either case, these commodity speculators are overlooking some more efficient means of commodity speculation. Convenient trading vehicles are generally not optimal. In this video we discuss the advantages and disadvantages of popular commodity trading vehicles such as ETFs and futures. We’ll also point out some commodity market characteristics that make speculating in such markets different from stock speculation. • Trading commodities via stocks, ETFS, and futures • Trading commodities at “one-stop-shop” brokerages • Differences in market characteristics (stocks vs. commodities) • Tax implications

A commodity market is a market that trades in primary economic sector rather than manufactured products. Soft commodities are agricultural products such as wheat, coffee, cocoa and sugar. Hard commodities are mined, such as gold and oil. Investors access about 50 major commodity markets worldwide with purely financial transactions increasingly outnumbering physical trades in which goods are delivered. Futures contracts are the oldest way of investing in commodities. Futures are secured by physical assets. Commodity markets can include physical trading and derivatives trading using spot prices, forwards, futures, and options on futures. Farmers have used a simple form of derivative trading in the commodity market for centuries for price risk management. A financial derivative is a financial instrument whose value is derived from a commodity termed an underlier. Derivatives are either exchange-traded or over-the-counter (OTC). An increasing number of derivatives are traded via clearing houses some with Central Counterparty Clearing, which provide clearing and settlement services on a futures exchange, as well as off-exchange in the OTC market. Derivatives such as futures contracts, Swaps (1970s-), Exchange-traded Commodities (ETC) (2003-), forward contracts have become the primary trading instruments in commodity markets. Futures are traded on regulated commodities exchanges. Over-the-counter (OTC) contracts are "privately negotiated bilateral contracts entered into between the contracting parties directly". Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) began to feature commodities in 2003. Gold ETFs are based on "electronic gold" that does not entail the ownership of physical bullion, with its added costs of insurance and storage in repositories such as the London bullion market. According to the World Gold Council, ETFs allow investors to be exposed to the gold market without the risk of price volatility associated with gold as a physical commodity. In the United States, the principal regulator of commodity and futures markets is the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The National Futures Association (NFA) was formed in 1976 and is the futures industry's self-regulatory organization. The NFA's first regulatory operations began in 1982 and fall under the Commodity Exchange Act of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission Act. Dodd-Frank was enacted in response to the 2008 financial crisis. It called for "strong measures to limit speculation in agricultural commodities" calling upon the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to further limit positions and to regulate over-the-counter trades. Software for managing trading systems has been available for several decades in various configurations. This includes software as a service. So-called Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) includes software such as Triple Point Technology, Sol Arc, Open Link and Gibbon. One of the more popular soft commodity solutions is called Just Commodity, based in Singapore this application caters to a large number of palm oil, edible oil, sugar and wheat trading businesses. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodity_market

You learn that lesson pretty quickly. But guess what... success is a lonely road. Success in anything worth having is tough. The only difference with trading is that we spent too long being sold the dream. We focus on the dream rather than trying to understand the reality. So let's remind ourselves. Trading isn't something you're going to become profitable with overnight. It takes hard word, dedication and perseverance. Ignore the snake oil salesmen telling you of get rich quick, holy grail, press go and profit systems. They don't exist. It's a false dawn. Sorry to burst your bubble. But I told you, we're focusing on the reality now. So what makes a great trader? Someone who has grit and determination. Someone who focuses on the long term and isn't constantly searching for short term wins. Someone who knows what they want in life and isn't afraid to work for it. Someone who can endure the long lonely hours, working on their own, sometimes without any tangible gain. Someone who can go to bed and even if they toss and turn all night worrying about their previous days performance, can still get out of bed the next day with a hop in their step and get back to work. You see, too many traders give up too quickly when the reality hits them. We can all come out of the blocks at full speed, with all the enthusiasm and conviction in the world. But there's a reason the stats show only a minority of traders end up successful. Because once things get tough, people give up. As soon as it becomes obvious that it's not smooth sailing. That you can't just cruise to the finish line. People make all sorts of excuses about why trading isn't for them. It's a scam. It's gambling. It's only for institutional traders. You need too much money. Once again... who said it was going to be easy? Training to become a success in any profession takes years of hard work. Trading is no different. It's just more accessible. We're talking about a market that exchanges trillions of dollars daily. And if you're willing to work harder than 90% of traders, you can carve out your piece of that. Just carving out your own small section, can lead to the most fulfilling experience of your working life. That's what this is all about. Starting from something small. Insignificant. And turning a number into something tangible. The ability to treat yourself and those closest to you to a better lifestyle. No more financial pressure. More security. More certainty. But besides that, the feeling of knowing exactly what you're doing, in a challenging role. To wake up in the morning and know you've got your finger on the pulse of the entire world. The global economy that keeps everything ebbing and flowing. And you're an integral part of all of that. A knowledgeable trader. An investor and an entrepreneur. You're part of an important group of professionals that keep the world turning. Sounds extreme? Guess what... it's the facts. So why should trading be so easy? The end justifies the means. We need to work hard for it. So if you've had a losing day, pick yourself up and remind yourself why you're in this. If things have been tough for a while, go back to the drawing board and figure out what you've done right or wrong. If you've had a good spell, stay humble and focus on consistency. Make sure you keep your eyes on the long term and not short term wins. After all, this is a marathon not a sprint. But most of all, beyond anything else. Don't lose your enthusiasm and DON'T GIVE UP. Your story starts here. Stay dedicated, this is just the beginning.

What questions should I ask a commodities broker? | Silver Law Group | Securities and Investment Fraud | Free Case Evaluation | (800) 975-4345 | 11780 W. Sample Road | Coral Springs, FL 33065 When hiring a new advisor, whether for commodities or for securities, 2 of the most important questions to make sure you fully understand is, one, "What is the qualifications and experience of the financial advisor that you're dealing with?" and, two, "What are his fees, costs, and commissions that he's going to be generating off of your account?" Maybe of the commodities cases that we have handled over the years turned over the amount of fees and costs that the commodities advisor was charging the client. So, for example, we recently handled a case where 98 percent of all of the money paid to the advisory firm was being charged in commissions. So it is important when beginning a relationship to appreciate not only the risks of the investment you're making but also the quality of the people that you're dealing with and the costs of the services that they're going to be providing.

As day traders, we use stock scanning software to find new intraday stock trading opportunities every day. This allows us to trade the most active momentum stocks, taking advantage of low risk, high reward opportunities and then moving on. Our day trading service will not only alert you when we make trades, but also teach you the trading strategies we used to find and execute those trades. ## Swing Trading Stocks A swing trader buys a stock with a plan to hold it for several days or weeks. Our swing trading service teaches you the swing trading strategies we use to find and trade stocks. As a swing trading service subscriber, you will also receive trade alerts, market analysis, and swing trading how to videos. Swing trading is a great choice for anyone with a full time job, as it doesn't require you to sit at your computer during market hours.
