Check out us at:http://www.tutorvista.com/content/physics/physics-iv/communication-systems/fax-machine-principle.php Fax Machine The essential parts of a fax system are the transmitting devices that translate the graphic material into electrical impulses according to a set pattern, and a synchronized receiving device that retranslates these impulses and prints that. In a typical system, the fax scanner consists of a rotating cylinder, a source projecting a narrow beam of light and a photoelectric cell. The copy to be transmitted is wrapped around the cylinder and is scanned by the light beam, which moves along the cylinder as it revolves. The output of the photoelectric cell is amplified and transmitted to the receiving end, where a similar cylinder, covered with specially impregnated paper, revolves in synchronism with the transmitting cylinder. A light of varying intensity moves along the rotation cylinder and darkens the paper by chemically reproducing the pattern of the original. When the fax is done, it pops out as a blue print of what the other person sent. Please like our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/tutorvista Follow us at: https://plus.google.com/+tutorvista

Fax (or) Facsimile, is an electronic system for transmitting graphical information by wire or radio. It is used to send printed material by scanning and converting it into electronic signals. These signals modulate a carrier to be transmitted over the telephone lines. Since modulation is involved, fax transmission can also take place by radio. The components of a fax system are shown in animation. Although facsimile is used to transmit pictures, it is not TV because it does not transmit sound messages or live scenes and motion. However, it does use scanning techniques that are in same way generally similar to those used in TV. A scanning process is used to break up a printed document into many horizontal scan lines which can be transmitted and reproduced serially.

See The 8 Best Fax Machines on Ezvid Wiki ►► https://wiki.ezvid.com/best-fax-machines Fact #1. More often than not these days, faxing is just one of the capabilities that a multi-function printer offers. Although they aren’t used as frequently today, it is still an important device for transmitting important documents, forms, and hand-written notes quickly. Sending business documents through fax can save you time by not having to scan it and save the file to your computer. Fact #2. Many industries still rely on faxing because of its reliability and safety. Doctors regularly use it to send and receive vital medical records. Lawyers also find faxes useful since they work in an environment that requires rigorous and exact documentation. Additionally, signatures sent over fax are legally valid while ones sent over e-mail are not. Fact #3. In Japan, the fax machine is still widely in use. This is ironic considering the fact that the country is known for some of the most cutting edge technology in the world. Some restaurants still receive a majority of their orders through handwritten fax. This adds a touch of warmness and personality to each letter. Fact #4. For those paranoid about their privacy, sending messages through these is thought to be much safer. Most people tend to trust the confidentiality of telephone networks. After the Sony hack, many entertainment firms started firing up their abandoned machines for this very reason. Fact #5. As incredible as it might initially sound, the first device approximating a fax machine was in fact invented more than a decade before the telephone. The pantelegraph was invented by an Italian named Giovanni Caselli in the mid 1860s. The device was capable of scanning a page marked with a special solution of potassium ferricyanide that interrupted the transmission of an electrical signal sent via telegraph wire. A stylus attached to a remote device would reproduce the image scanned by the first pantelegraph and dutifully recreate the words or small graphics on a second piece of paper.

Follow Eli on the Vlog Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/EliComputerGuyLive Info Level: Beginner Presenter: Eli the Computer Guy Date Created: August 2, 2010 Length of Class: 54 Minutes Tracks Telephone Systems Prerequisites None Purpose of Class This class introduces students to the basic components of telephone systems. Topics Covered Public Switched Telephone Network Central Offices Trunk Lines PBX and Voicemail Systems PBX Stations Voicemail Subcribers Class Notes Introduction Telephone systems are not complicated if you understand how they work. A Word on VoIP VoIP is not a telephone system PSTN PSTN -- Public Switched Telephone Network is like the Internet, but for telephone communication NADP -- North American Dialing Plan -- Is the system for routing telephone calls. Central Office -- All telephone lines connect to a local central office Trunk Lines Every Trunk Line has a telephone number A Trunk Line allows for 1 incoming or outgoing call. You can have far more telephones in a building then you have trunk lines. Incoming Trunk lines are setup in Hunt Groups. If the main phone number is busy the call is automatically forwarded to the next number in the Hunt Group Incoming Hunt Groups are setup by your local telephone company. Outgoing calls can be routed to use selected trunk lines. This in configured in your PBX. PBX and Voicemail The PBX routes telephone calls The Voicemail system provides all audio messaging. (Voicemail boxes, Message Boards, and Auto Attendant Messages) Stations All devices that connect to the PBX are "Stations". This includes telephones, call boxes, intercom systems, etc. There are 2 types of stations; Analogue and Digital. Analogue and Digital stations have to be connected to appropriate ports on the PBX. An analogue phone cannot connect to a digital port and vice versa. Almost all fax machines and phones you buy at retail stores are analogue. If your new fax machine does not work it may be because it's plugged into a digital line. Subscribers Subscribers are users of the Voicemail system. Subscribers do not have to have stations Voicemail ports are the number of connections to the Voicemail system at any one time. This includes not just people retrieving their voicemail, but also incoming calls that connect to Auto Attendant messages. Final Thoughts Be careful before you touch! Most older telephone and voicemail systems were administered using a phone keypad, NOT and computer interface. If you mess something up it can be very difficult to rebuild a deleted Auto Attendant or such. Resources North American Numbering Plan PSTN -- Wikipedia

Although we might think of fax machines as a relatively recent (if somewhat dated) technology, this episode uncovers the surprising history of the wireless fax machine. Host Tory Altman speaks with Hal Wallace, associate curator of the museum's electricity collection, about this 1930s device that used radio signals to transmit images. The "Founding Fragments" video series gets up close and personal with historical treasures in the collection of the National Museum of American History. Very similar to the previous video, this time I will show you how you can receive and decode "Weather Fax" and "SSTV" signals only wit PC (without radio receiver, transceiver, SDR etc..) 1.Download and install decoding software: -For Weather FAX: https://sourceforge.net/projects/fldigi/ -For MMSSTV : https://hamsoft.ca/pages/mmsstv.php 2.Download and install "VBcable" free software: https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/index.htm and set "CABLE" as Default palyback device on sound properties. 3.Go to the decoding software and set "virtual cable" as the input device. 4.Now we look for information about determined weather fax and SSTV frequencies and the time of their broadcasting. 5.Next go to "https://sdr.hu/" and choose some online sdr radio.Enter the pre-selected weather fax or SSTV frequency and for the demodulation mode select the USB. 6.Start the appropriate software and decoding can start. In the same way, we can decode many other signals in the SW range, for example: RTTY , CW , PSK , NAVTEX ,FSQ, DCF77 time signal etc.. Finally, this mode of reception and decoding does not have the same function and filling as with a real radio device but can very well be used for educational purposes or for testing. Thanks for watching

Originally recorded May 11, 2013. Someone gave me something I have been looking for! A THERMAL fax machine. See, nobody liked thermal fax machines because of the paper. The paper felt strange, smelled strange, and always curled. In addition, thermal paper, as you likely know from most of the receipts you get, fades easily. It was once common practice to make a photocopy of a fax received to ensure that the printing would last. However, this created a higher cost since in addition to the price of the thermal paper, regular paper and toner (not to mention electricity) would be used. Most of the time this was done since everyone hated thermal paper. But thermal printing is still excellent for transient documents. Something that you need for a short period of time, then discard. I once received a thermal printout of a wedding registry on 8½" paper and thought it was an excellent idea. There are thermal printers out there that will print on that size paper, but they are expensive. Also, people still hate thermal paper. Fax machine manufacturers realized that they could use a thermal transfer printing process, which would eliminate the thermal paper. Everyone was thrilled at the advent of a plain-paper fax, but they absolutely raped you on these cartridges. It's time to put your old dial-up modem back in service! This is still a manual process (unless you have a spare phone line and want to use it as such). If you use the same line and connect direct to the fax machine as I did, you will have to change your modem properties to not wait for dial tone.

https://paubox.com If you are reading this and your company is still using a fax machine to send and receive documents that include PHI, then please sit down. We care about you. But clearly it’s time for an intervention. We understand. There was a time when the fax machine was shiny new and fast. That time was 1924 when Calvin Coolidge received the first wireless image on his Photoradiogram. That’s right, you are sending patients sensitive information on a piece of technology that predates social security numbers by nearly 15 years; and we are being kind by ignoring that the first patent for what would become the fax machine was issued in 1846. Please, you need to know that we aren’t being ageist. The fax machine is simply a bad idea in 2017. We live in a world where encrypted emails can leave our smartphones, hit an antenna, fly to space, come back to earth, hit another antenna and then hit the recipient’s phone in the time it takes you to punch in a ten digit phone number on a plastic box sitting on top of your filing cabinet. There are literally petabytes of data whizzing around your head while you wait for the only machine in existence still allowed to make that weird dial-up sound. So, what exactly is the upside of your fax machine? Speed? Nope. Cost? Not really. Security? Not at all. So for the love of your practice, do us all a favor and let go of a technology that is on life support and join us in the digital age. There are lots of ways you can securely and easily send and receive sensitive information through encryption providers like Paubox. It’s faster, cheaper and more secure than any fax machine and will change your operations for the better!
