What is Knowledge Exchange?

03:08
http://www.lowitja.org.au SCRIPT: Each person possesses knowledge. This is made up of facts, feelings, ideas, thoughts, experiences, interpretations, and stories. When people come together they share their knowledge. Sometimes this is the same. Sometimes this is similar. Sometimes this is different. Sometimes no one knows. When it is not the same or when no one knows this is where research can help. The researcher is a facilitator and collector of information, and synthesiser and translator of this information. The researcher is influenced by their own knowledge. The researcher utilises three things: (1) Fellow researchers, experts (2) Previous research (3) Stakeholders Stakeholders can include: (1) Decision makers (2) The Community of interest (3) The general public The impact of research can be negatively influenced by bias, politics, power and fear. It can also be negatively impacted up on by poorly interpreted data, poorly constructed methodology. How do we find the truth and avoid the negative influences? One approach is knowledge exchange -- the process of creating new knowledge. This is where new knowledge is created. Dr Marika describes this formation of new knowledge as Ganma. Ganma is the name of a lagoon where saltwater meets fresh water. Water is a symbol of knowledge in Yolngu philosophy and the metaphor for the meeting of two bodies of water is a way to talking about knowledge systems of two cultures working together. DIFFERENT VOICE: "A river of water from the sea and a river of water from the land mutually engulf each other upon flowing into a common lagoon and becoming one. In coming together, the streams of water mix across the interface of the two currents and foam is created. This foam represents a new kind of knowledge. The forces of the stream combine and lead to deeper understanding and truth. Essential, Ganma is a place where knowledge is (re)created" Water like knowledge has memory. When two different waters meet to create Ganma, they diffuse into each other, but they do not forget who they are or where they come from. Using this metaphor, people from differing cultures and backgrounds can share deeply, without losing their history or integrity.

What is Knowledge Exchange? Why is it important?

02:40
Researchers who want to see their research make a difference appreciate that publication alone is rarely sufficient to improve health outcomes. They see the value in building relationships with research users (e.g. consumer representatives, practitioners and policy makers) from the outset. They understand that fostering this process of knowledge exchange has the benefit of allowing real world knowledge to inform research directions as well as facilitate dissemination and implementation. In this video, Dr Christina Hagger, PHCRIS Senior Research Fellow and Knowledge Exchange Manager gives an overview of knowledge exchange and why it is important. ICO Review: Experty (EXY) - Decentralized Knowledge Exchange

08:33
Experty is a protocol that brings the “expert network” business onto the blockchain. Learn more: https://crushcrypto.com/analysis-of-experty/ Download the free ICO Guide which contains 6 simple steps for analyzing any ICOs to find the winning projects: https://crushcrypto.com/youtube/ Note: This is not a paid review. We do not offer promotional or advertising services. Our content is based on our own research, analysis and personal opinion. _______________________________________ What does the company/project do? Experty is a protocol that brings the “expert network” business onto the blockchain. It aims to connect experienced professionals to users for consulting purposes. Expert networks in the past were companies that would scout out professionals with a high level of expertise in their field, and offer them work as a temporary consultant for people that were specifically looking for advice in that field. The expert network company will then receive a small commission from the transaction. Experty’s vision is taking the decentralizing aspect of a blockchain and cutting out the middleman. Knowledge seekers will be able to connect with their knowledge provider of choice without having to go through an intermediary. They do not plan on using a marketplace type model for their product, instead knowledge providers will be able to share their Experty link directly on their social or professional media such as LinkedIn, email signature, or Twitter profile. Payments will also be made through a smart contract that directly links the knowledge provider with the knowledge seeker, so payment between the two parties will be nearly instant. _______________________________________ What are the tokens used for and how can token holders make money? EXY tokens will be the only currency used on the Experty platform in order for knowledge seekers to have phone calls or video calls with the knowledge providers. The Experty website will have a soft wallet, and a way for users to buy EXY tokens directly using fiat or cryptocurrencies. As EXY tokens are needed to perform transactions or staking, the more usage and users the Experty platform has, the more valuable EXY tokens should be. There also is an incentive for frequent users to buy a large sum of EXY, as they are able to stake their coins in order receive certain premium benefits for free. _______________________________________ Opportunities - By removing the middleman, Experty is able to provide expert network services at a lower rate than current incumbents. Certain experts currently charge a rate of thousands of dollars per hour and hopefully this would be reduced if they choose Experty. - The team has already lined up a fair number of cryptocurrency experts ready to provide consulting services when the platform launches. - By putting a link in the expert’s social media instead of having a centralized place with all the experts' information, we believe it would make it a lot easier for users to consult with the experts. _______________________________________ Concerns - Key team members are all software developers who don’t seem to have experience in consulting or working with expert networks. It may be difficult for the team to expand outside the crypto space and into other areas such as legal, financial services, health, etc. - There is a limit as to the number of calls an expert can take per day, so we believe Experty will need a very large number of experts in order to justify a potential valuation in the range of tens of millions of dollars. _______________________________________ Disclaimer The information in this video is for educational purposes only and is not investment advice. South-South knowledge exchange is a powerful way of transferring, replicating, and scaling up "what works" in development. South-South knowledge exchange is just-in-time sharing of information and experiences among development practitioners and leaders. It can include debates about options for policy reform, topic-specific field visits between developing countries, or dialogues among various stakeholders as a way of building consensus and coalitions for reform. Innovation and Knowledge Exchange - A Grand Challenge

51:20
The Vice-Chancellor’s Grand Challenges Lecture on Wednesday evening in Keele Hall drew a diverse audience including university colleagues and partners from across the region. Professor Trevor McMillan has a national role as Knowledge Exchange Champion for the Higher Education Funding Council for England and his lecture provided rich insights into this ongoing work. In his welcome, ILAS Director Professor Jonathan Wastling highlighted the significance of the Vice-Chancellor’s lecture as part of the Grand Challenges series. Here our speakers are invited to offer stimulating topics for our audiences but more than this, to show us how their area of knowledge or expertise contributes to greater understanding of the problems we face in the world and the ways that we might respond to these. The VC’s lecture was an exhortation to reflect seriously on the role of universities in tackling real-world problems and the importance of reaching beyond academia and the campus in doing so. The lecture is one of a number of Professor McMillan’s presentations on the Knowledge Exchange Framework for a range of audiences, including a recent keynote University Innovation and its role in regional economic development at the Global Technology Transfer Summit at the Pujiang Innovation Forum in Shanghai. Here, at his home university, the Vice-Chancellor set out the broad agenda for the ongoing national work on knowledge exchange, his experiences and reflections on this and importantly, where Keele is located in this landscape and the opportunities that this policy development presents. Professor McMillan emphasised the importance of the work of universities in their local settings and beyond this nationally and globally. In the Keele context, he highlighted our contribution to research and innovation, work with enterprises and business and perhaps most importantly and enduringly, the development of our students, about 3000 of whom leave Keele every year with the skills, attributes, and values to go out into the world and do good things.

The Knowledge Exchange - The Song of the Shepherdess

59:51
Dorothea Elizabeth Davis was a life-long resident of Willoughby and Lake County. Dorothea became known as the "sheep-lady", a name she loathed, because she had a working sheep farm in the midst of a growing city. She loved her sheep and saw herself as a servant of God and believed that she was charged with the duty of keeping the land pure in the traditions of the ancients. She was probably the most misunderstood woman in the community because no one took the time to look beyond the eccentricity and myth to see the educated and talented woman she actually was. Nancymarie Phillips helped Dorothea with her sheep farm for 8 years and she asked Nancymarie to take on the task as her official biographer -- naming her own story, Song of the Shepherdess. Dorothea was a lover of history and she knew that her existence was a large part of the history of Lake County. The lessons Nancymarie learned from Dorothea will be with her for the rest of her life. Gene Editing: A Potential Game Changer for Crop Agriculture | CoBank Knowledge Exchange Brief

Interest, innovation, and investment in gene editing tools like CRISPR (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats) and TALEN® (transcription activator-like effector nucleases) have heated up in recent years, and will only intensify in 2019.The technology is being described as “game changing,” “revolutionary,” and “evolutionary.” And it certainly has the potential to live up to the hype. Gene editing within crops allows for economical nutritional improvements while enabling the production system to produce more with less. The low cost of gene-editing technologies offers solutions to agricultural labor and water shortages, disease and chemical resistance, climate change, food waste, food security, and nutrition. Dairy Cycle | CoBank Knowledge Exchange Brief

01:09
Consolidation on dairy farms in the U.S. has driven the industry into what may be a new era of longer, more drawn out price cycles. The large-scale farms, which account for the majority of milk produced nationally have contributed to a situation in which the milk supply is much less responsive to short term price shocks. This lack of supply response will likely mute the traditional three-year cycles the industry has become accustomed to in recent history as outlined in CoBank’s Knowledge Exchange research report, “A New Era of Dairy Price Cycles: Structural Change Ahead in the Dairy Industry,” by Ben Laine. Experty ICO Overview - Human Knowledge Exchanges on the Blockcain

05:39
See more on their ICO: https://experty.io On the Experty platform knowledge providers share their expert profiles on linkedIn with Advice seekers and people in need of help. The advice seekers get the information needed and the seekers pay the knowledge providers directly using the ethereum blockchain, rather than having a central calling center as a middle man to take a percentage of all the funds. This way advice seekers pay less for quality advice and knowledge providers get more for their money. Experty is not a marketplace. Instead, They build a fully decentralized platform and don’t have a centralized marketplace where advise seekers can search for specialists. The current market is saturated with services in which knowledge seekers can find qualified experts already and alternatively they are implementing a decentralized solution. Users can just share their experty.io contact information wherever they would like, mainly throughout social media and other web communications. The Experty App will primarily be responsible for the secure decentralized funds exchange and the actual conferencing and communication.
