Allergen labelling of prepacked foods

25:17
Allergen labelling within the European Union is currently regulated by the Food Information to Consumers Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 (FIC). The FIC sets requirements for allergen labelling of prepacked foods and allows for the member states to set measures regarding allergen information for non-prepacked food. In this webinar, Dörte Mang (Food Law Adviser) discusses allergen labelling worldwide and how it compares to the EU. The webinar also provides guidance on substances that cause allergic reactions, compliant allergen labelling, national provisions for allergen labelling in non-prepacked food (EU) and potential changes.

European Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP)

05:09
We are changing the labelling of our products from the end of 2013. The change is required by all EU Member States to meet the European regulation on classification, labelling and packaging (CLP) of substances and mixtures. The CLP Regulation ensures that the hazards posed by certain chemicals are clearly explained to workers and consumers in the EU through clear classification and labelling. The legislation will bring the EU into line with the United Nations' Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS). In time, this worldwide standard will replace the old European labelling systems. Labels (and safety data sheets) will look different in future but this does not necessarily reflect a change in the composition or performance of -- your tried and tested Standox products.

Market Trends Point to Product Recovery

03:43
Innova Market Insights is a global market researcher that covers food trends in more than 70 countries. In June, Innova was at IFT 2014 in New Orleans, LA, where it unveiled its Top 10 Food Trends for the coming year. Number one on that list was “Waste Not, Want Not,” which concerns the alarming amount of food waste that occurs from farm to fork. One area where this waste can be significantly curtailed is in product recovery during the food-and-beverage manufacturing process. Mouvex® also used IFT 2014 as the launching pad for its new Product Recovery Initiative, which demonstrates to manufacturers how Eccentric Disc Pump technology can achieve product-recovery rates of 60% to 80% or more, which benefits consumers through lower prices and companies that can waste less and save more in production costs.

National actions to support EU Product Policy

52:21
Mandatory product policy is set at the EU level: the Energy Efficiency Labelling Directive from 1995[1] and the Ecodesign Directive for energy-related products (ErP Directive), setting Minimum Energy Performance Standards since 2005. National action to improve the energy efficiency of lights and appliance pre-dates both of these and continues to make a significant impact, encouraging the uptake of the most energy efficient products and phasing out the least efficient. A wide range of actions have been used, including: * Tax breaks for domestic and business customers * Subsidies for consumers and retailers * Endorsement labels * Trade in schemes * Information campaigns * Retailer training * Public Procurement * Forward (technology) procurement which have made a real difference to the EU markets EU. The webinar will give an overview of these actions and illustrate them with examples of different types of policies, in different member states and from different eras. [1] The framework directive was adopted earlier – 1995 was when the first labelled products were sold.

Confusion on the Menu for European Allergen Rule

00:51
Confusion on the Menu for European Allergen Rule A European rule requiring restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets ? or anyone mass-producing meals ? to list any of 14 allergens that might appear on their menus is being met with confusion. Italy and France, with their strong restaurant and cafe culture, had yet to outline how the rule approved three years ago should be put into effect. With constantly changing menus, cooks in both countries said communication with the customer ? not more rules ? was key to a good meal. Beatrix Chiusole, a diner at Enoteca Corsi near the Pantheon in Rome, paused as the steam rose from her cheese-topped minestrone (milk, celery, gluten) to ponder the EU rule. Listing every ingredient of everything on the menu "would be a little off-putting" when perusing menus, she said, adding that she herself had no food allergies. "All you need to do is ask the waiter," Chiusole said. Often ingredients that might cause allergy sufferers problems cannot be seen, like the celery simmered into the tomato sauce that is ladled onto spaghetti in the kitchen. Jean Terlon, chef and owner of Saint-Pierre in Longjumeau, outside Paris, said he relies on customers to tell him about allergies and can easily change recipes to accommodate them. source: http://www.dramacool.com/masquerade-2012-episode-1.html

An Old HONDA (Civic) Dashboard

00:34
The Honda Civic (Japanese: ホンダ・シビック Honda Shibikku) is a line of cars manufactured by Honda. Originally a subcompact, the Civic has gone through several generational changes, becoming both larger and more upmarket and moving into the compact car segment. EPA guidelines for vehicle size class stipulate a car having combined passenger and cargo room of 110 to 119.9 cubic feet (3,110 to 3,400 L) is considered a mid-size car, and as such the tenth generation Civic sedan is technically a small-end mid-size car, although it still competes in the compact class.[1] The Civic coupe is still considered a compact car. The Civic currently falls between the Honda Fit and Accord. The first Civic was introduced in July 1972 as a two-door model,[2] followed by a three-door hatchback that September. With an 1169 cc transverse engine and front-wheel drive like the British Mini, the car provided good interior space despite overall small dimensions.[3] Initially gaining a reputation for being fuel-efficient, reliable, and environmentally friendly, later iterations have become known for performance and sportiness, especially the Civic Type R, Civic VTi, Civic GTi and Civic SiR/Si.[4][5] The Civic has been repeatedly rebadged for international markets, and served as the basis for the Honda CR-X, the Honda CR-X del Sol, the Concerto, the first generation Prelude, the Civic Shuttle (later to become the Orthia), and the CR-V. In Japan, as customers increasingly shifted to minivans and compact cars like the Fit, production of the non-hybrid Civic ended in August 2010 when it no longer complied with Japanese government dimension regulations in the width category.[6] However, the Civic was reintroduced into the Japanese market with the launch of the tenth-generation model in 2017.[7] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Civic United States: The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S. or US) or America, is a country composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.[fn 6] At 3.8 million square miles (9.8 million km2), the United States is the world's third- or fourth-largest country by total area[fn 7] and just fractionally smaller than the entire continent of Europe's 3.9 million square miles (10.1 million km2). With a population of over 325 million people, the U.S. is the third-most populous country. The capital is Washington, D.C., and the largest city by population is New York City. Forty-eight states and the capital's federal district are contiguous in North America between Canada and Mexico. The State of Alaska is in the northwest corner of North America, bordered by Canada to the east and across the Bering Strait from Russia to the west. The State of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific Ocean. The U.S. territories are scattered about the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, stretching across nine official time zones. The extremely diverse geography, climate, and wildlife of the United States make it one of the world's 17 megadiverse countries.[19] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States

Meeting on Consumer Protection 2013

08:27
Deliberations on the revision of the United Nations guidelines for Consumer Protection (11-12 July 2013) Following the first expert meeting in 2012, Ad Hoc Expert Meeting on Consumer Protection: The interface between competition and consumer policies, it was decided that UNCTAD should begin a consultation process on the United Nations Guidelines for Consumer Protection (UNGCP). UNCTAD asked Member States, international organizations and other relevant stakeholders to participate in this important project, by informing of the legislative processes of Member States, along with contemporary guidelines produced by OECD, OAS, ICPEN, UNCITRAL and Consumers International, among others. As a result of this consultation and call for contributions, the Secretariat produced the Implementation Report on the United Nations guidelines for Consumer Protection (1985 - 2013). This assessment reiterates that the UNGCP remain a valid and relevant document for consumer protection policy and have inspired a significant number of national consumer protection laws. In order for these Guidelines to continue to provide a relevant framework, the report identifies a number of areas for the improvement of the UNGCP, to ensure that they address new and contemporary issues that are at the forefront of consumer protection policy.
