Scientists Confirm Dogs Can Recognize a Bad Person

09:00
How to Understand Your Dog Better. It looks like dog owners have scientific evidence to prove that their pets are the smartest and most perceptive and can even help them single out bad people. Their list of superpowers makes dog people proud: they can sense fear, read body language, and even smell cancer to find it at an early stage and warn of upcoming epileptic seizures. TIMESTAMPS Dogs can recognize a bad person. 0:50 They feel how other people treat their owners. 2:21 Dogs can read our body language and emotions. 3:22 They can sense fear. 4:05 Dogs can smell cancer. 5:52 They can warn of upcoming epileptic seizures and diabetic shock. 6:59 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -An experiment led by Dr. Akiko Takaoka from the Department of Psychology at Japan’s Kyoto University concluded that dogs refuse to trust a person who lied to it. Dogs did not follow a pointing hand that led them to an empty container. -In an experiment, dogs wouldn’t take a treat from the people who’d been mean or disrespectful toward their owners. In fact, besides distrusting them, they flat-out ignored these meanies. -With enough training and treats for a job well-done, dogs are able to tell the happy faces from the sad ones, even with human faces they didn’t come across during their training. -In a study of 694 people, the scientists found a link between a person’s emotional state and their likelihood of getting bitten. Emotionally stable and confident people don’t get bitten nearly as often as those who feel anxious around intimidating dogs. -Lots of dog owners have reported that their pets paid particular attention to their body part affected by cancer. -Dogs’ super noses can sense the rapid changes in blood sugar levels since they change the smell of an affected person’s breath and skin. 12 Signs Your Pet is Crying for Help

10:01
Is your cat just tired, or does it have a fever? Has your dog been drinking more water than usual? Can that be a sign of something dangerous? If you notice any of the following warning signs, take your pet to the vet urgently! We love our pets. They are our family. They wake you up in the morning asking you to feed them or take them for a walk. They miss you when you go to work, and they are extremely happy to see you coming back home. We get used to them very much and learn their behaviors quickly. The difference between pets and the rest of the family is that animals can’t complain when they are sick. TIMESTAMPS Change of the gum’s color 1:09 Staring at a wall 1:37 Breathing problems 2:10 The coat is altered 2:49 Loss of appetite 3:23 Changes in drinking habits 4:31 Vomiting 5:42 Diarrhea 6:22 Sudden aggression 6:50 Hiding 7:26 Changes in the appearance of the eyes 8:06 Lethargy 8:46 SUMMARY - Both cats and dogs normally have pink gums. Change of the color may indicate high fever, infection, lack of oxygen, loss of blood and even liver problems. - If insects are not the case, call the animal by its name. If it doesn’t look at you or respond in any way, it may be an alarming sign. Reasons vary from tumors, stroke and head injuries to convulsions and cognitive dysfunction syndrome. - If you notice your pet breathing rapidly with its mouth open (especially cats), you should take it to the vet immediately! The poor pet may have heart problems or liquid in the chest. - When a cat is sick, it doesn’t have the strength to lick itself. So, the fur may lose its fancy shine. If your cat or dog sheds too much fur (so it becomes visible), it may be a sign of skin diseases, lack of vitamins, allergies. - Your cat’s normal behavior (not that we think it’s good manners) is to jump on the table when you are cooking and try to steal a piece of cheese or something else. Dogs usually make sorrowful eyes when you are having dinner, so it’s hard to resist giving them a chunk of meat. - Don’t worry if your cat doesn’t drink much if it eats wet cat food. It’s ok for them not to drink any water at all because they get enough of it from food. If your cat eats dry food and drinks very little or no water at all, check your house or apartment for water leakage. - Dogs aren’t as inventive, so if you notice that your dog doesn’t drink enough, go straight to the vet, too. Normally dogs drink a lot, no matter if they eat wet or dry kind of food. - If your pet has occasional vomiting, it’s probably nothing serious. Dogs often eat trash when walking (so watch out for that!), cats eat their own hairs when cleaning and vomit hairballs from time to time. - Any changes in frequency or consistency of stool are alarming. Yes, that’s gross, but come on! That’s your pet after all! - If you have been loving and kind to your pet, then the reason for such an unfair response may be the pain. Dental issues, arthritis, injuries, infections — these are just a few conditions that may alter a pet’s mood and cause it pain. - If your pet usually looks for your company and attention and then suddenly starts to hide under the bed or other places, where you can’t get to it, it may be a bad sign. - Red eyes, excessive secretion are symptoms viruses and bacterial infection. For example, clear secretion from cat’s eyes means the cat has a virus. If the liquid is green or yellow, we’re dealing with an infection. - Your cat or dog isn’t showing interest in playing with toys? Perhaps, it got tired of them or you. Give it some time to rest. Maybe your friend needs some alone time. However, if it doesn’t go back to normal in 24-48 hours, it might mean that your pet has a fever or even much more severe problems like dehydration (check its water bowl) or even a heart disease. What Your Pet's Color Says About Their Personality

09:55
What color is your pet? Your beloved pet's personality is shaped by many things: their breed, upbringing, and even the color of their coat! That's right! Studies confirm that every fur color has its own specific feel to it! According to a study published in the journal Applied Animal Behavior Science, the different colors that English Cocker Spaniels come in can actually reflect their behavior and personality. Another study from the University of Sydney discovered that, on average, chocolate Labrador Retrievers don't live as long as the golden and black ones do. Scientists believe it may be recessive genes to blame. So fur color really does make a difference in both health and personality! But what about your fur baby? What does the color of their coat say about them? Let's find out! TIMESTAMPS: Black 1:41 Brown 3:00 Grey 3:44 White 4:34 Orange 5:34 Bi-colored 6:30 Tri-colored 8:22 #catbehavior #dogbehavior #petcolor Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Don't think that you can befriend a black cat right away. They'll observe you from afar and then decide whether or not you're worthy of their time. They may come off as unpredictable and stubborn, but they're also very sensitive and shy. These black-clad introverts usually prefer a calm indoor lifestyle. - If you have a beautiful brown cat, it's probably very intelligent, friendly, and playful. Brown cats are not the type to be super goofy. Brown dogs are reserved and quiet. They're really calm and need some time to adjust to new people and places. - Grey cats like to have fun and can be quite mischievous at times. Grey dogs, in their turn, are quite curious and brave. If there's something strange going on, they'll definitely investigate it. They love to explore the environment around them and learn new things. - White cats are at a higher risk for congenital deafness and are prone to all types of vision problems and skin disorders. They're gentle, loving, and affectionate, and they often follow their owners around the house. - Dogs with a white coat are really playful, sweet, and just fun to be around. No matter how tired or sad you are, a white dog can always lift your mood thanks to their unbelievable love for life. - If there was an award for the goofiest and funniest pets, dogs and cats with orange-colored fur would win every single time! Apart from the obvious fact that ginger cats are simply adorable, they're also very friendly and awkwardly cute. - Black and white cats are very resourceful, affectionate, and clever. A lot of these cats make friends easily but not for long. - Seal Point cats, like Siamese kitties, for instance, are honest, assertive, and vocal. They often choose the “leader of the pack” in the family and express their love to them in particular. - Black and white pooches are usually really graceful and brainy. They're not the ones to cluelessly run from room to room and bark without reason. - Red-brown or cream-orange and white dogs are all about being active and showing their love every chance they get. These types also tend to be a little clumsy. - Calico cats are often perceived as unique and different, and it's true in many ways. These kitties are loving and lively, yet determined and independent. Their personality is never stable or predictable; they often change and are generally full of surprises. 10 Mistakes That Shorten Your Pet's Life

09:14
What can be bad for your pets? What is harmful to them? 🐶🐱 A lot of people make some serious mistakes in their pet care that can lead to all kinds of health problems and even a shorter lifespan. So let’s see what major no-nos you should avoid and what you should do instead! TIMESTAMPS: Not being picky about food 0:56 Rarely taking pets to the vet 1:45 Allowing pets access to open doors and windows 2:14 Not spaying or neutering 2:50 Neglecting grooming and dental hygiene 3:27 Neglecting bath time or doing it incorrectly 4:21 Giving your pets table food 5:12 Not giving enough attention 5:38 Not checking their collar 6:13 Keeping a dog cooped up all the time 6:50 Parakeets 7:30 Guinea pigs 8:03 #dog #pet #understandyourdog Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - Always read the label first before choosing a brand. It shouldn’t contain any flavoring agents, corn, or GMOs. - Don’t neglect regular visits to the vet, even if your furry friends hate you for it! This is the only way to prevent diseases and catch any sort of problems before they get too serious. - Unless you have a fenced-in yard that’s regularly treated to kill any parasites, your pets shouldn’t have open access to the street. - Vets do recommend spaying and neutering your animals because it actually helps them live long and happy lives. - Start brushing their teeth at an early age so that they get used to the process. They make special toothbrushes and pastes for animals that you can get at any pet store. - Bathing is a necessity when it comes to pets. Cats, of course, are a little more self-sufficient when it comes to staying clean, so they don’t really need to be washed. - All vets agree that giving your pet “people food” is a terrible idea. Your pet’s digestive system simply can’t handle most of the stuff we humans eat. - Pets need socialization and human interaction to develop physically, emotionally, and socially. Otherwise they can become easily scared, aggressive, and disobedient. - So be sure to check if their collar is too tight from time to time. For cats and small breed dogs, you should be able to slip one finger between their collar and skin. - Dogs of all ages and breeds should have enough time outside to move around, interact with other dogs, and be free to explore. - Don’t keep parakeets locked up in their cage constantly. Birds need physical activity and some kind of entertainment. They’re social creatures and need at least 30 minutes a day of games and communication. - A very important thing you should keep in mind when buying a guinea pig is that it needs plenty of room to move around. A cage that’s too small will detrimentally affect the quality of life and health of your piggie! HOW TO UNDERSTAND YOUR CAT BETTER

09:20
How to understand your cat? 🐱 How to make friends with your cat? 😍 Everyone knows that cats are the most illogical and unpredictable pets. Just try to work out what’s going through that furry little head! It turns out that cats have their own language, and if you learn it there’s a chance you’ll understand them much better. We’ve put together all of the possible cat behaviors to help you find a common language with your pet (well, if it allows you to). Also, we’ve prepared three essential tips that will help you communicate with cats better. HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR CAT • How to make your cat trust you Lowering your cat to the ground, make sure its paws have reached the floor. Your cat will trust you and know that it won’t tumble if you let it go. • How to stroke your cat If you sit on the floor with your legs crossed and look at your cat, it will interpret this as a friendly gesture and come up to you to let you stroke it. Also, stretch your hand out in its direction. Your middle finger should be a little lower than the others. The cat will start rubbing its nose or face against your hand. • How to make your cat appear A cat may go and hide and only appear when it’s alone or hears a calm voice. #understandcat #catbehavior #pet TIMESTAMPS Cat's tail 0:52 Cat's eyes 3:47 Cat's interaction with people 4:38 Cat gestures 6:14 Cat language 6:57 How to communicate with your cat better 8:09 MAIN CAT GESTURES • If a cat raises its nose up and throws its head, it’s saying, “I see you.” Cats often make this gesture to people walking past the window. Have you ever noticed it? • A cat might press its ears against its head if it feels scared, worried, or wants to play. They also do this when they are sniffing something that’s interested them. • When a cat sticks its tongue out slightly and licks itself, it’s worried or anxious. CAT LANGUAGE • Cats generally greet people or announce their presence with a short sound. • Lengthy meowing indicates that your cat is very glad to see you. This occurs if you’re away from home for a long time. • A medium-length meow might be a request for water or food. • A long sound (a mix of purring and meowing) is a more insistent request or demand. • A low meow is a complaint or indication of dissatisfaction. Also, it might mean your cat is ready to fight. • A loud sound often indicates an urgent demand (for instance, you cat needs more food). • A purring or vibrating sound indicates a desire for closer contact or attention. Cats purr for various reasons, but most often they do it when they are happy. Now you know how to find a common language with any cat. By the way, are you a cat person or a dog person? Hit the like button for cats, and leave a short comment if you are in love with dogs! 12 Harmful Things You Do to Your Dog Without Realizing It

13:14
How to Keep Your Dog Healthy. If you're a dog owner, you surely want your pet to be healthy and to live a long and happy life. But you might sometimes do things that can potentially harm your canine companion without even realizing it. Here are some common mistakes people unintentionally make when it comes to taking care of their doggies. TIMESTAMPS Choosing the wrong collar 1:00 Leaving a dog alone in the car 3:08 Neglecting your dog's teeth 4:15 Letting your dog eat everything 6:07 Bringing puppies to a dog park 7:47 Using physical punishment 8:13 Providing too little stimulation 9:48 Not securing your dog in the car 10:31 Yelling when your dog does something wrong 11:05 Skipping flea, tick, and worming treatment 11:28 Leaving harmful objects around 11:51 Neglecting breed-specific health issues 12:22 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -There are several types of collars, and you need pick the one that best suits the needs and character of your pup, as well as a place to attach his license. Whether you've settled on a harness or gone for a collar, the second (and just as important!) step is making sure it’s the right size. If a collar or harness is too big, your pooch may escape. -Dogs don't sweat like people do, so they can overheat much faster than you’d think. And since they lack this crucial ability to cool themselves off, the consequences of staying in a locked car can turn out fatal. -A dog’s teeth need to be cleaned just like people’s teeth do. Don't use toothpastes and toothbrushes designed for people! There are special ones made just for dogs, and they’re pretty different from the human kinds. -Never feed human food to your dog! It's way too salty, too spicy, and too fatty for them. In fact, most dishes you eat are severely toxic for them. -To start with, dogs can sometimes be passive carriers of diseases. Secondly, grown-up dogs, especially large ones, can be incredibly rough when playing and running around. -Physical punishment doesn’t work and actually does the opposite of what you want – it makes your dog scared of you. Reward-based training is much more effective than physical discipline. -Just like you, dogs need constant mental and physical stimulation-, especially working breeds, which is why regular walking is a must. -If you don’t secure your dog in the car and you end up in an accident, your pet can get seriously injured or even killed. -Dogs don’t understand “NO”, so it only freaks your dog out, especially if you’re ticked off about something that happened a while ago. -Some people say you can take a break from flea, tick, and heartworm medicine in winter if you live in a cold climate, but you really should discuss it with your veterinarian. -Dog-proof your house by putting away anything your pet can chew or swallow. Things like medications, screws and nails, magnets, coins, and batteries should never be within your pet’s reach. -Always do your research before you get a pet so that you’ll know how to best take care of it and what problems to look out for. Homing instinct in cats 9:45 #cats #catfacts #catlovers Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - The Mesopotamians and ancient Egyptians were the first to domesticate cats. Since these cultures were dependent on agriculture, the enemies of their livelihood were the animals that ate their crops. - Since Egyptians thought of cats so highly, they accessorized their pets with jewels. The richer and more aristocratic the owner, the bigger the jeweled collar their cat wore. - In ancient Egypt, anyone found guilty of killing a cat, even accidentally, was sentenced to death. - Egyptians thought that Bastet manifested physically as a cat and protected Egypt from invasion, just like a cat protects its owner’s home. - In Slavic mythology, it was believed that a barn cat named Ovinnik was the protector of crops and livestock. - It was only around the Middle Ages when cat folklore turned dark. During this time, cats were thought to be accomplices of witches and black magic. - You’ve likely heard about the knack cats have for always landing on their feet no matter how far they fall. This is called a “righting reflex,” - Cats can’t taste sweet foods, but they do have an extra organ that allows them to taste scents in the air. Apparently, that’s why they stare at you sometimes with their mouths open! - Cats have outstanding balance that’s only made better by their long tails. - Cats are carnivores, which (aside from cleaning themselves) is why they have that rough sandpaper tongue. It’s supposed to help them clean every last morsel of flesh from an animal bone. - Cats can drink seawater. Unlike humans, cats have kidneys that can filter out the salt from seawater. - The ridges on a cat’s noses are like fingerprints for people. That means that no two kitty noses are exactly alike! - Cats purr at a frequency of about 26 purrs per second. 10 Dangerous Dog Breeds for Families with Kids

08:48
What types of dogs are good for families with kids? Some of the dogs you see in movies or on the street seem to be cuteness itself. But after the first excitement of getting a dog abates, you may notice that your kid isn’t able to walk the dog on their own. Here are 10 dog breeds that aren't too kid-friendly. TIMESTAMPS: Akita Inu 0:40 Dalmatian 1:31 Russian Toy Dog 2:11 Doberman 2:50 Husky 3:33 Basenji 4:20 Alabai 5:17 Chihuahua 6:07 Pekingese 6:50 Corgi 7:25 Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Adult Akita Inu dogs can be aggressive toward other animals, especially representatives of their own breed. As a result, they can suddenly attack other dogs, ignoring any size difference. - Dalmatians are big, extremely strong, and overactive. Even if your dog is socialized and used to children's attention, you should closely watch its interactions with kids. Don't leave them alone even for a minute. - The Russian Toy is a gentle and very loyal dog. But you should remember that it has a truly sensitive nature. If there are active kids in your family, this dog will be constantly stressed. - Dobermans are exceptionally good hunters with perfect obedience skills. But it’ll take a lot of training to make the dog remember that your kids are masters just as you are and that they need not only protection but also respect. - A Husky is a strong, big, playful dog and can express its emotions by jumping at a kid. This may hurt or scare a young child, so you’ll need to teach the dog to show its feelings in the proper way. - Basenjis are unstoppably curious and highly intelligent. As a result, they are prone to disobedience. - The Alabai looks like a fluffy white bear. This is an exceptionally strong and big dog. The dogs of this breed make perfect protectors, but, at the same time, they tend to dominate. - The Chihuahua is considered to be the smallest breed. These dogs are usually aware of their fragility, and that’s why they don't particularly trust children. A small kid can perceive this dog more like a toy than a living being. - The most prominent feature of any Pekingese is its self-centeredness. Most Pekingeses dislike children who make too much noise and try to touch or cuddle them. - Young Corgis can easily become aggressive after they have tested their boundaries and realized that they can get away with a lot. This is especially true for male dogs. 9 Dangerous Dog Breeds That People Still Keep as Pets

09:12

Why Cats Are Sooo Scared of Cucumbers?

10:07
Why cats are afraid of cucumbers? You’ve seen all the memes, gifs, and videos of cats literally leaping into the air in fright at the sight of a cucumber. So what’s the deal anyway? Well, we’re as puzzled as you are, so let’s see what the experts have to say about this “cat vs cucumber” phenomenon! TIMESTAMPS: How it usually goes 1:25 The first theory 3:33 The second theory 4:16 Can it do any damage on cats psyche? 5:25 What can happen to a cat in response to this 6:25 The symptoms your cat might be suffering from stress 7:01 #catcucumber #catfear #catbehavior Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music Safety Net - Riot SUMMARY: - So, it usually goes like this: a pet owner will stealthily place a cucumber behind their cat’s back as the animal is eating out of its food bowl. Once the cat turns around and notices this strange green elongated thing lying there on the ground, it’ll either jump up in fear and run away. - Certified animal behavior specialist Dr. Roger Mugford puts it down to simply being caught off-guard during a moment of vulnerability. - Another theory is that cats mistake cucumbers for snakes, the feline’s true mortal enemy. - Startling them for fun can do some serious damage on their psyche. You’re basically tricking them into thinking there’s a deadly predator or danger nearby, which causes them psychological harm and stress. - If cats feel threatened, particularly at their food stations, they can lose their appetite. And when cats don’t eat, they can develop life-threatening fatty liver disease. - The common sickness behaviors are vomiting, refusing to eat, diarrhea, and urinating outside the litter box. - Furthermore, they may injure themselves, break something, or become more stressed. Our furry feline buddy is a sensitive being, which is why you should be a considerate pet owner. 10 Most Dangerous Cat Breeds That Are Still Awww

12:27
Cats are one of the most popular pets in the world. And they can be just as playful, cuddly, and friendly as their canine counterparts! Are you a cat person? Are you considering getting one? Well, you probably should leave the following 10 dangerous cat breeds off your list of potential candidates. TIMESTAMPS: Pallas’s cat 0:58 The Savannah 2:14 The Chausie 3:40 The Jungle cat 443 The Abyssinian 5:43 The British Shorthair 6:52 The Maine Coon 7:51 The Mekong Bobtail 8:48 The Siamese 9:43 The Bobcat 10:55 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The distinct trait of Pallas’s cat is its un-cat-like round eyes and pupils. The important question is: can you tame this kitty? The short answer is: no. - The Savannah is a crossbreed between the African Serval and your common domestic house cat. It has a long neck, body, and legs with dark-brown to black spots all over its coat. - Also known as the “Nile cat,” this breed is a cross between an Abyssinian domestic cat and a Jungle cat. Its wild ancestor, the Jungle cat, is the very one that the ancient Egyptians worshipped! - The Jungle cat's scientific name is Felis chaus, but it also goes by the “Swamp Lynx,” Swamp Cat,” or “Reed Cat.” While the name would have you think otherwise, this cat does not live in the jungle but rather in wetlands with dense vegetation. - The Aby is one of the oldest domesticated cat breeds. Believed to originate from Abyssinia, which is modern-day Ethiopia, most experts nowadays site Egypt as the breed’s place of origin. - If you’re familiar with the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland or Puss in Boots in Shrek, then you’ve definitely met some of the on-screen representations of the British Shorthair. This breed can weigh up to 20 pounds and lives up to about 20 years. - The Maine Coon is a large breed that can weigh up to 20 pounds or more. It also received celebrity status as “Mrs. Norris” in the Harry Potter movies. - The Mekong Bobtail can weigh up to 10 pounds and has a lifespan of up to 18 years. And, of course, we can’t forget to mention this breed’s most unique feature: its tiny little bobbed tail! - The Siamese is the most talkative and opinionated cat out there! It demands to be entertained and showered with attention 24/7. It can be pretty cautious around strangers and outright naughty when left alone at home! - Known as Lnyx rufus in the scientific community, the Bobcat is a nocturnal animal with a natural habitat in the wild. Yet some people are brave (or silly) enough to make them pets. 11 Proven Ways Dogs Say "I Love You"

10:34
How to know if your dog is happy? Did you know that dogs basically have all the same brain structures for producing emotions that we have? Japanese scientists from the Department of Animal Science and Biotechnology at Azabu University along with specialists from other Japanese universities conducted a study that showed how dogs develop strong emotional connections with humans by staring into their eyes! Dogs are pack animals by nature, which makes them seek closeness with their pack — and you are naturally one of them! Specialists believe that dogs lean and touch their owners for physical and emotional support, seeing them as someone who can protect and comfort them. TIMESTAMPS: Gazing into your eyes 0:40 Bringing you their toys 1:23 Yawning when you yawn 2:10 Sleeping with you 2:55 Wagging their tail 3:43 Raising their eyebrows and showing their tongue 4:40 Cuddling with you 5:40 Leaning on you 6:27 Letting you touch their head 7:13 Calmly watching you leave 7:57 Going crazy when you come back 8:58 #dogbehavior #understanddog #doglove Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Japanese scientists conducted a study that showed how dogs develop strong emotional connections with humans by staring into their eyes. - If your dog proudly runs toward you with their favorite toy or even pushes it forward a bit to encourage you to take it, you can be sure that your pet’s love for you is strong and unconditional. - Simultaneous yawning is another sign that your pet is emotionally bonded to you. So while scientists are still trying to explain this fun phenomenon, you can do a simple test yourself to check if your dog truly loves you: yawn and see what happens! - Dogs are pretty vulnerable when they sleep. Therefore, if they choose to snooze next to you, this means that they trust you like no one else. - A wagging tail held high is a sign of enthusiasm and confidence; a lower tail indicates nervousness. - Dogs produce way more facial movements when humans are looking at them. They can raise their eyebrows to make their eyes look bigger, show their tongue, or even use their secret weapon that nobody can resist: puppy dog eyes! - There's nothing like cuddling with your dog! Scientists from Azabu University (along with other specialists) confirm that your dog enjoys the experience just as much! For them, hugs are a great stress reliever! - Specialists believe that dogs lean and touch their owners for physical and emotional support, seeing them as someone who can protect and comfort them. - Dog training experts, including Sarah Bartlett from Hound Helpers Ltd, are sure that you should never go over a dog's head and try to pet them this way since they naturally perceive it as a threatening gesture. - If your dog feels calm whenever you leave the house, it's a sign that your buddy trusts you and knows for sure that you'll come back. - When you come home, your dogs’ emotions start certain processes in their bodies, increasing the social hormone oxytocin and decreasing the stress hormone cortisol. 10 People Who Accidentally Adopted Monsters

11:10
10 People Who Adopted Pets Who Surprised Them Subscribe to our channel: https://goo.gl/cv6b96 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Description: Have you ever dreamed of adopting a cute little puppy or a playful kitten? These beautiful animals are a great addition to the family as they make sure everyone is loved and has a reason to smile every day. However, some of these persons were surprised to see that the creature they accidentally adopted turned out to be a real-life adorable monster. Some of these people wanted a dog but quickly found out that they bought something else by accident. We understand that an animal lover didn’t make the difference between a baby dog and a baby wolf. But how can someone adopt a ferret thinking it is a little puppy? He later found out that the rodent was filled with steroids to be sold as a dog and was certainly not happy about that. When you see the picture, you understand how this mistake was possible. There are also some people who just can’t be satisfied with a cat, so they buy a bigger kitten instead. Even though they intended to adopt it, these owners didn’t seem to know these big cats could turn out to be monsters. An actress said that she regretted letting her daughter sleep with a lion, years after inviting this animal into her home. But most owners don’t even seem to care with three tigers in their backward. Even though these animals appear to be sweet and lovable, we don’t even want to think about what could happen if something went wrong. If you want to know about more people who accidentally adopted monsters, watch this video and don’t forget to subscribe to TheThings. Which monster would you like to adopt? Before that, they were one of the greatest hunters feared by numerous species. - A group of kittens is often called a kindle; a group of adult cats is called a clowder. A female cat is referred to as a queen, and a male cat is known as a tom. - Cats only meow at humans. With other animals, they hiss, spit, and purr — but never meow. They also tend to greet each other by touching noses. - The problem of acne is pretty common among cats. They usually end up developing blackheads on their chins, which is widely known as feline acne. - Most cats tend to spend about two-thirds of their day sleeping. So the average 9-year-old cat has been fully awake for only 3 years of its life! Cats also spend about one-third of their waking hours cleaning themselves up. - One of the reasons why cats clean themselves so often is to lick your scent off! When your cat rubs against you from nose to tail, it wants to mark you as its own. - Cats have rather sensitive stomachs, so you should be very careful about your furry friend's menu. Never give your cat onion, garlic, green tomatoes, chocolate, grapes, or raisins. - Your cat always understands when you say its name…it just chooses to ignore you! Specialists believe this happens because, historically, cats haven't been domesticated to listen to people's orders — unlike dogs. - A cat's whiskers aren't there to make them extra cute! They’re covered in numerous nerve cells and blood vessels. - Cats have a special reflective layer in their eyes called the tapetum lucidum. This layer easily magnifies incoming light and allows cats to see around 6 times better than we do in the dark and low light. - A cat's heart beats way faster than ours with about 110 to 140 beats every single minute. - A cat's cerebral cortex contains 300 million neurons. Just for comparison, dogs have only around 160 million. - It's a natural instinct for a kitten to cover its poop. If your cat doesn't do that, this is its way of showing you who's the true head of the house. - Back in 2007, a calico cat named Tama became a station master and greeted passengers at Kishi Station. - Cats can easily jump about 6 times their own length! This is all thanks to the powerful muscles in their back legs, which allow them to jump onto any surface they like. - Biologically, a cat's brain is kinda similar to ours. We have almost identical brain regions that take care of our emotions, so there's a chance that you and your furry friend feel the same way sometimes. - In the cat world, the concept of left- or right-handedness is a thing too! 11 Strange Cat Behaviors Finally Explained

09:14
Everybody knows that cats are utterly adorable. But how to understand your cat better? Dogs wag their tails, run up to you for a hug, and bark boisterously. Cats are more restrained and express their feelings differently. More often than not, their owners can only guess what their furry companions are feeling. Do you know, for example, why your cat always sits on your clothes? Or why cats are always getting into small spaces? We at Bright Side decided it was time to decode all those hidden signals cats give out. TIMESTAMPS: Nail-biting 0:40 Pawing at water 1:26 Getting into small spaces 2:05 Putting its paws in your face 2:56 Hissing 3:47 Ignoring you 4:33 Chewing plants 4:59 Lying in the litter box 5:42 Begging for food and then ignoring it 6:19 Following you to the bathroom 7:15 Sitting on your clothes 8:03 #catbehaviour #cats #kitties Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - If your cat always bites its nails when grooming itself, you probably have nothing to worry about, since this is basically the feline version of a manicure! - To their kitty logic, if the water in the bowl moves, then it's probably alright. That's why cats are so captivated by tap and toilet water. - Most cats prefer to sleep in small cozy spaces where it's difficult to get to them. Things like boxes or sinks make them feel safe and secure. - If your cat touches your face slightly, it’s simply showing love. Tapping their paws on your face means “Hey I did something, you better clean it up” or “Get up and feed me, please!” - Even the sweetest little kitten in the world can hiss from time to time, and it’s a clear sign that they’re either frightened or ticked off. - If your cat ignores you, just let it be. Your pet will definitely appreciate the respect and will love you even more! - Chewing on plants could be caused by several things. First of all, a lot of cats do it when their tummy is upset or they just wanna eat something with a different texture. Other cats are simply curious or trying to get your attention. - If your cat has suddenly started hanging out in its litter, it can be a sign of sickness. When accompanied with other red flags like loss of appetite, then this behavior definitely warrants a call to the vet. - A lot of the time, begging becomes such a routine for cats that they start doing it even when they're not hungry. Another possible reason is your kitty's desire for attention and love. - When you leave the room, they feel vulnerable to predators, so they decide to follow you. And believe it or not, a lot of the time the bathroom is the place where they feel the safest! - If your cat always sits on your clothes whenever you leave them, you should be kinda flattered because this is how they mark you as a member of their pack! If Your Cat Acts Strangely, Don’t Worry. Here’s the Explanation!

07:10
“Cats live for themselves,” - Rudyard Kipling claimed. They aren’t inclined to become attached to others. Unlike dogs, which wag their tails and run up to you for a hug, cats are much more reserved. Their owners can only guess what their furry companions are feeling. It's time to decode all the hidden signals cats give out. If you think your pet acts strangely, don’t worry! Perhaps they just show you their love! So cross your fingers and watch the video until the end. There you will find a useful bonus – how to understand your cat’s emotions by its tail! Here we go: your cat truly loves you if... TIMESTAMPS If a cat purrs so much, you can’t sleep 0:49 If a cat follows you everywhere 1:26 If a cat nibbles your skin 1:51 If a cat sticks close to you and winds herself around your legs 2:19 If a cat bends the tip of her tail when she looks at you 2:44 If a cat has a staring contest with you 3:11 If a cat isn’t afraid to show his belly 3:46 If a cat brings you gifts 4:16 If a cat comes up close and face-to-face with you 4:45 If a cat gives you a massage 5:17 How to understand your cat’s emotion by its tail? 5:59 #catbehavior #understandcat #catlove SUMMARY - Purring is the way a cat expresses love! According to scientists, purring can also be a sign of worry or discomfort, but if your cat is purring by your side, you can be sure that they are expressing their attachment to you! - If your cat is following you at your heels, it means she likes your company. - If provoked when you play with him, the cat might start to chew lightly on the “opponent’s” hand. But this is just playful fighting. - Cats are known for being possessive and jealous, but this is also how they demonstrate tenderness and attention. - When your cat extends her tail straight up and bends only the tip, this is a sign of curiosity and friendly attitude towards you. Another explanation is that the cat feels particularly playful and wants to have some fun with you. - Cats are a little like many men: if they can't take their eyes off of you, it means they love you! - Cats do this when they feel comfortable, content and happy. It may be as well an invitation to rub their tummy - a great gift to you in any cat’s opinion. - Some people wake up to the variety of cat toys spread around on their bed. Others find “gifts” from cats, such as paper balls or sweets covers, in their boots. A few lucky ones get once-alive presents: mice, insects or baby-snakes. - If your cat nestles his head against you, juts his forehead into your forehead, neck or leg, it’s a good sign! He is just showing that he considers you someone close to him. - So why does your cat knead you? There might be two reasons: she is trying to find the most comfortable place to fall asleep or at least to arrange it. Or she is trying to tell you how happy she is to be with you and in this case the kneading is a sign of affection. Tail straight up: your cat feels friendly, happy and content. - Tail raised back at an angle: your cat feels unsure but not aggressive. - Tail straight up, quivering: it is an excellent sign - your cat is happy to see you. - Thrashing tail: it can mean several strong emotions, from strong interest and ecstasy from being petted to anger and aggression. You need to watch other body signs. - Bristled tail: your cat is scared, sees some threat and is in defensively aggressive posture. - Tail entwined around another cat, object or your hand; it’s an analogy of people’s hug - cats show their friendship this way! How Do Seizures Differ in Cats and Dogs?

00:59
"Seizures in cats and dogs actually are quite similar in their onset, how they appear, how they can spread through the brain," says Heidi Barnes Heller, DVM, DACVIM (Neurology), clinical associate professor of neurology/neurosurgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. But she also says there are several differences. "There are different parts of the brain that can have a seizure onset in a cat compared to a dog that we don't see as commonly in dogs. I would parallel this with humans in cats more than I would parallel dogs to humans with their seizures. So, humans tend to have temporal lobe epilepsy fairly commonly, and that's something we rarely see in dogs but are seeing more and more commonly in cats and likely will be diagnosing more and more commonly in cats. It's just a challenging diagnosis to make ante-mortem-before death. And so, the source of the seizure is coming from a different place in the cat brain compared to the dog brain. But the reason for the seizure: a brain tumor, head trauma, epilepsy, something like that could be the same between dogs and cats." What Your Dog's Sleeping Position Reveals About Its Character

10:01
What does a dog’s sleeping position mean? Most dog owners know about their pets' habits and easily understand when their dog is happy, worried, surprised, or scared. You can also reveal some of your dog's secrets by analyzing its favorite resting position. TIMESTAMPS: The Snowball 1:17 The Pancake 2:12 Superman 3:26 Curled up in a ball 4:29 On its back 5:36 The Dead Cockroach 6:27 The Sphinx 7:36 The Burrower 7:18 Bonus: How to understand that your dog is absolutely unique 8:50 #dogssleep #understanddog #dogcharacter Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The snowball is one of the most popular positions among dogs — and among cats as well! In this position, a dog curves its spine, and its nose is located not far from its tail. - The pancake is the most restorative position for sleep, and, in most cases, that's exactly when REM sleep occurs. So don't get spooked if your doggy starts to kick and paddle out of the blue. It's just acting out its dreams. - If you notice that your adult dog prefers Superman position, it may indicate that it feels hot. Perhaps it's been a sweltering day or your dog has been playing and exercising too hard. Your dog may be simply exhausted. - You can sometimes catch your pet curled up in a tight ball with its tail wrapped around its body and its paws neatly tucked away. This way of sleeping resembles the fetal position in humans. - If your dog prefers sleeping on its back with its front legs bent over its chest and its back legs extended, you’ll probably guess that it feels at ease. - By sleeping in the dead cockroach position, your pet can be cooling off. You must have noticed that some areas of dogs' tummies aren't as fluffy as the rest of their body. - The sphinx position allows your dog to take off running as soon as you call it. Not many dogs sleep this way, and this is kind of a transitional state between wakefulness and rest. - If your pooch is a burrower, it needs more affection and attention than any other animal. When such dogs snuggle into something cozy, they are searching for security and comfort. - If you notice that one part of your pet rests on a comfortable sofa and the other resides on a hard, unforgiving floor AND your dog is sound asleep at this time, congratulations! You're the owner of a unique dog! 6 Proofs Your Dog Does Behave Like You

09:34
Dogs have been with us for around 30,000 years, and today, we just can’t imagine life without these fluffy creatures. But the big, important question remains: just how close are humans and dogs to each other, and what are the key factors in this long and happy relationship? #understanddog #dogbehavior Other videos you might like: 10 Mistakes That Shorten Your Pet's Life https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCmaoBujsAI& 12 Signs Your Pet is Crying for Help https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFtSoWyxqHU& 16 Useful Clues To Understand Your Dog Better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Svj_nFUZa9g TIMESTAMPS: Survival of the friendliest 0:34 Dogs have individual IQ levels 2:36 Smarter dogs live longer 4:08 Dogs are more like us than our closest relative 5:12 Dogs lose their sleep in stressful situations 6:18 Dogs and humans have similar microbiomes 7:41 Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - Today, some scientists think it wasn’t people who domesticated wolves, but the other way around. US scientists from Duke University, Dr. Brian Hare and Vanessa Woods, think it was wolves who learned how to be friendlier to people! - Newly developed in the London School of Economics, IQ tests for dogs show that intelligence levels not only differ between the breeds, but that they’re absolutely individual for each and every dog there is. - Statistical research shows that people with higher IQs are more likely to be healthy and live longer. As it turns out, it’s the same for dogs. - In fact, dogs are the only species that shows intellectual skills shockingly similar to those of human babies. If you show a picture of an object to a chimp, it won’t understand what you mean by that. Dogs can understand the shown image and bring an object that resembles it. - A dog’s experiences accumulated throughout the day have a direct impact on the quality of sleep they get at night. If something goes wrong – poor puppy, the night will be long and fruitless. - European Molecular Biology Laboratory and Nestlé Research presented studies that shows how changes in the diets of humans and dogs have similar effects on their microbiomes. The similarities are far stronger than we could’ve expected. MEET the brave couple that share their home with a playful two-year-old COUGAR. In 2016, Alexandr Dmitriev and his wife, Mariya, decided to adopt a young cougar called Messi and raise him as a house-pet in their small, studio apartment in Penza, Russia. Messi follows a strict grooming routine to ensure he doesn’t make too much of a mess around the house – he gets washed in the bath, has his nails trimmed, his teeth checked and he receives a special brush-down every day. The big cat eats twice a day with a diet consisting of turkey, beef, a bit of chicken breast and some bones. And with a growing social media following of 250,000 on Instagram and more than 2 million views on YouTube, Messi has become a local celebrity. 13 Ways to Show Cats Love In Their Language

09:22
Having a cat is awesome, and sometimes you just want them to know how much you love them. Luckily, there are tons of ways you can express your affection in their language. For example, you can blink slowly. I know it may seem strange but that's what cats do when they feel relaxed and at peace. Cats are exceptionally trainable too, and training your cat is a great way to show affection as well as strengthen your bond together. - Turning on the faucet and letting your cat drink from it shows that you understand and respect your kitty’s innate needs and wishes. - Cats release special pheromones from glands in their cheeks and rub this scent on you to mark you. So, giving your cat a couple of nose-to-tail rubs sends the same message, that you see them as all yours too! - Next time your cat presses against you as you're watching TV or something, press a tiny bit of your weight back into them. - You know how psychologists say that we trust people who say our name more? Well, the same goes for cats too! - The earlier you understand how your cat expresses its emotions through body language and meows, the stronger your connection will be. - Cats really value their independence and often need to spend some time alone. So if your cat isn't that playful and rarely comes to you for cuddles and kisses, don't try to force it. 10 Ways to Keep Your Pet Busy While You're Away

08:47
If you're a pet owner and work full time, you probably feel sorry that your furry friend has to stay at home alone. Cats usually manage it alright, but a bored and lonely dog can turn out pretty destructive to your furniture and clothes. Luckily, there are lots of effective ways to keep your pet occupied while you're away! Do you know, for example, that there are TV channels created especially for dogs? For example, DOGTV is a 24/7 channel that shows dog-friendly programs. These shows are scientifically developed to keep dogs from feeling lonely when they're left at home on their own. TIMESTAMPS: Get special toys 0:39 Organize a treat quest 2:35 Leave the TV on 3:10 Buy a water fountain 3:53 Put all-natural peanut butter in a hollow toy 4:32 Give your pets a view from the window 5:38 Sign your dog up for doggy daycare 6:04 Get a treat-dispensing toy 6:29 Get your pet a companion 7:05 Hire a dog walker 7:47 #pets #petsalone Music by Epidemic Sound https://www.epidemicsound.com/ SUMMARY: - If you don't want your pet to miss you when you're away, you need to leave a substitute to entertain them. Just like with little kids, fun toys will keep your dog or cat occupied. - Hide and scatter kibble and other treats in the places where your dog or cat usually hangs out when you're away. Your pet will have a fun time during the day trying to locate all the treats. - As you head out, turn on your TV and leave it on. Choose Animal Planet or any other channel that has shows about animals. The sounds and sights of other animals will distract your pet from how quiet the house is. - Before you leave home, grab a hollow dog toy and stuff it with peanut butter. The fact that they have to reach into all the toy’s crevices in order to get to the peanut butter will keep them occupied for hours! - Both dogs and cats love watching different objects move around outside. So open the blinds or curtains and set a chair near the window. - If you have a well-socialized pooch that loves being in the company of other dogs, you can always send them to doggy daycare when you're away! - There are hundreds of different puzzle toys that can train your pet’s brain. Most of such puzzle toys are treat-dispensing. - If you can afford it and you’ve got the space for it, consider adopting one more cat or dog. By doing this, you'll save an abandoned animal’s life and provide your pet with a companion to socialize with, which sounds like a win-win to me! - If there's a pet care facility in your area, they most likely provide a dog-walking service. An experienced person will take your pooch for a walk during the day. Ep 10: OAKLEY GOES TO SCHOOL - Cute Dog Video School Day

06:27
For the first time ever, my brother Oakley takes the starring role in one of my episodes in OAKLEY GOES TO SCHOOL, where cute little Oakley, a miniature dachshund or wiener dog, goes to school in this cute dog video. Oakley is a cute little wiener dog, who with his cute backpack and overalls, heads to school on the school bus, where his day has various adventures including funny math class, funny history class, and finally, finding a cute girl to help study with. You might feel a little sorry for Oakley Dachshund in this episode, but in the end you'll see he wins the day in this cute dog video featuring adorable dachshunds, Jack Russell, and Golden Retriever. I, Crusoe, am still in the episode, playing myself, as well as history and math teacher. Also big thanks to Dillon the Golden Retriever and Sandy the Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. Enjoy Oakley Goes to School! A cute video of little dogs going to school!

How to understand what your dog wants? Understanding a dog’s body language is essential for building a strong and trustworthy relationship with your four-legged friend. This is really important because dogs are a source of limitless positivity! So, do you know what your pet is trying to tell you in different situations? Our video will help you understand your pet or any other dog. Let’s get started – here are 16 useful clues for you to understand your dog better. Most often, the dog tucks his tail between his legs when he is really afraid of something or someone. - When you approach an unfamiliar dog, it’s better to avoid looking directly into his eyes. For dogs, staring at the eyes means aggression. - The ears are standing straight up or inclined forward. The dog is showing you that he’s curious and reacting to some new event in his environment. - The dog yawns. This means your dog is grumpy and nervous. Puppies do this quite often when they’re surrounded by big unfamiliar dogs. - The dog licks his face. The dog does this when he’s stressed or feeling pressure or danger. - The dog rolls over and exposes his belly. The dog is showing that he trusts you and wants to please you. - The dog puts his head on your knee. This means the dog wants to get attention and show that he needs you. - The dog puts his paw on your knee. If the dog does this with a very smug look, he is trying to dominate. - The dog has one front paw raised. This stance means your pet wants to ask you something. - Dogs may shake (like they shake off water after a bath) as a way of relieving tension. Probably, your dog was in stress or met an unpleasant person or dog. After adulthood, your pet becomes a senior citizen. These years are characterised as those where your pet begins to slow down, they may be sleeping more or becoming less active, or their skin and coat or overall health may have deteriorated. During these years, your pets diet should now, more than ever, be the focus to ensure that what they’re eating will help with their overall health, wellbeing and longevity.
