When it comes to the internet, our connections are generally controlled by telecom companies. But a group of people in Detroit is trying to change that. Motherboard met with the members of the Equitable Internet Initiative (EII), a group that is building their own wireless networks from the ground up in order to provide affordable and high-speed internet to prevent the creation of a digital class system. Editing: Things they don't tell you about what journal editors want

21:02
Pippa Smart, independent publishing and research communications consultant and Editor-in-Chief of the journal, Learned Publishing, provides some insights into the ‘black box’ of editorial decision-making and how authors can improve their chances of article acceptance. Recorded 6 July 2016 at a MedComms Networking event in Oxford. Produced by NetworkPharma.tv = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = ABSTRACT: Many authors are mystified both by the time it takes to publish work, and by the reasons for its being rejected or accepted only subject to revisions. The process of publication is actually straightforward. Following initial checks for completeness, suitability and plagiarism, high-impact journals tend to reject 70% or more of papers immediately, i.e. within a week or so, while those with less strict criteria will reject at least 30% of submissions. The commonest reasons are that the work is out of scope of the journal, or the quality is insufficient for a variety of reasons, from lack of originality, to flawed science and poor quality writing or overall structure. The review process is generally very time-consuming. It is standard practice to have three reviewers per article; one or two may be suggested by the authors, though not necessarily accepted. Recruiting these reviewers may require eight or more invitations. An editor will normally allow two weeks for review; however, deadlines are frequently missed, and the reviews received may be contradictory or unhelpful, necessitating a further round of reviewer recruitment or sometimes arbitration by an additional reviewer. Acceptance without changes following review is rare; the most common decision by an editor is to request revisions, which may be minor or major. Authors can greatly improve their chances of acceptance by carefully reading journal author guidelines, checking journal scopes to ensure that they submit to a suitable journal, and submitting good quality work. A good article will be attractive to a journal editor, communicate its message clearly and concisely, and encourage citation. What is DIY NETWORKING? What does DIY NETWORKING mean? DIY NETWORKING meaning & explanation

What is DIY NETWORKING? What does DIY NETWORKING mean? DIY NETWORKING meaning - DIY NETWORKING definition - DIY NETWORKING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ DIY networking is an umbrella term for different types of grassroots networking, such as wireless community network, mesh network, ad-hoc network, stressing on the possibility that Wireless technology offers to create "offline" or "off-the-cloud" local area networks (LAN), which can operate outside the Internet. Do it yourself (DiY) networking is based on such Wireless LAN networks that are created organically through the interconnection of nodes owned and deployed by individuals or small organizations. Even when the Internet is easily accessible, such DiY networks form an alternative, autonomous option for communication and services, which (1) ensures that all connected devices are in de facto physical proximity, (2) offers opportunities and novel capabilities for creative combinations of virtual and physical contact, (3) enables free, anonymous and easy access, without the need for pre-installed applications or any credentials, and (4) can create feelings of ownership and independence, and lead to the appropriation of the hybrid space in the long-run. DiY networks follow the Do-It-Yourself subculture, and provide the technological means for more participatory processes, benefiting from the grassroots engagement of citizens in the design of hybrid, digital and physical, space through novel forms of social networking, crowd sourcing, and citizen science. But for these possibilities to be materialized there are many practical, social, political, and economic challenges that need to be addressed. Although DiY could be also used for illegal purposes, the DiY concept has become more and more popular in the mainstream academic literature, activism, art, popular media, and everyday practice, and especially in the case of communications networks there are more and more related scientific papers, books, and online articles. There is a large potential for new, novel, and free locality-aware services and opportunities that demand anonymous and easy access, such as Online Social Networking (OSN) via DiY-Based Sites. Single-board computers such as Arduino, or Raspberry Pi, are commonly used for DiY networking purposes, since such computers are open-source, relatively cheap, have low power demands, support multiple protocols, and are portable. In 2016, the EU Horizon2020 research funding framework, and more specifically CAPS (Collective Awareness Platforms for Sustainability and social innovation) has funded two 3-year projects on DIY networking: 1) project MAZI, "A DIY networking toolkit for location-based collective awareness", focusing on small-scale networks and aiming to provide tools and interdisciplinary knowledge for individual or small groups to create their own off-the-cloud networks, and 2) project netCommons, "Network Infrastructure as Commons", focusing on existing large-scale community networks like Guifi.net, Freifunk, Ninux and combining research from different disciplines in close collaboration with key actors to address important economic, social, and political challenges that these networks face today. Regarding terminology, there is often criticism on the use of the term “Do It Yourself” to characterize collective action projects, such as the creation of a network. Alternative terms, more “collaborative”, include “Do It With Others”, “Do It Together”, or “Do It Ourselves”. The preference for the term DIY is first practical, since it is a common abbreviation that does not need explanation. But it also stresses the fact that although it is not possible to build a whole network by yourself, you can indeed build by yourself, or yourselves, one of its nodes. And even if this node is often built using off-the-shelf commercial equipment, it is still placed on your space, owned, installed, and maintained by you.

What is CHIEF NETWORKING OFFICER? What does CHIEF NETWORKING OFFICER mean?

What is CHIEF NETWORKING OFFICER? What does CHIEF NETWORKING OFFICER mean? CHIEF NETWORKING OFFICER meaning - CHIEF NETWORKING OFFICER definition - CHIEF NETWORKING OFFICER explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. The chief networking officer (CNO) is a business networking position in a company or other organization. The term refers less commonly to a technical executive position in the computer industry. In the business networking context, a chief networking officer manages the social capital of a company. The CNO connects people and businesses within the company, with other companies, and with consumers. The CNO's mission is to facilitate know-how transfer and information flow, fostering innovation, safeguarding diversity, and facilitating profit growth. Chief networking officers are responsible for creation and cultivation of new communities and acquisition of pre-existing communities. Other definitions, such as one by the Wharton Global Business Forum in India, include managing outreach, communication and logistics, usually in partnership with the chief operating officer." As the CNO position builds on soft skills culturally common to women, it can advance women’s careers in areas such as public policy and large-scale business development. Although the position has been around since 2004, there is an ongoing academic debate related to the issue of CNOs—or even the need for CNOs— in modern business. A Chief Networking Officer is the corporate business networks portfolio manager. Along with their team, the Chief Networking Officer centrally manages the business networks environment. They strive to solve conflicts in ways that serve mutual best interests. The CNO is a direct contact, although not primary, and will always be ready to assume the management of any partnership with any stakeholders during primary network manager absence. This professional maps out and organizes all resources available inside the network, i.e., contacts, experiences, success stories, knowledge, competences and business opportunities. Finally, they set up long-term partnerships with fair and well-defined mutually beneficial gains with each stakeholder inside all business networks. The CNO is a serving leader, concerned with self-development of each member of the internal network, and qualifying them to reach their goals. The CNO can only directly impact the employees network. All others are outside their direct control, but in their area of influence. The CNO achieves recognition of peers from various and different networks that surrounds their community-enterprise, creating strong interdependence among all parties and synergy with the whole. The CNO is the business networks portfolio strategist, acting as coach and trainer during implementation of related projects during transition from existing and traditional model towards a virtual agile global networking enterprise. To successfully implement this project, the CNO must have cooperation from all departments. In summary, a CNO's job requires a higher value and moral code strategic thinker who possesses unshakable credibility—a moved-by-challenges professional skillful at managing partnerships. This person must possess clear, objective communication skills so they can guide personnel development. This executive must be creative and participative in harmonizing different interests, expectations, and needs among networks. The position requires negotiation experience, knowledge of the company, and knowledge of the marketplace. Finally, understanding coaching methodology is useful for managing people. In computer networking, the chief networking officer is "responsible for network strategy, advanced network product development, and translation to line products of future networking and distributed computing technologies."

NETWORKING - A KICK START OF YOUR CAREER

04:44
Like, Share & Subscribe to budding.in “Networking”!! A kick start of your career...!!! You know what? You will look at your friends, family members even your dry cleaner in a whole new light after this video! Kyunki ab aap log har purane rishte ko ek alag nazariye se dekhoge k use accha aur aur accha kese banaya jaye. Because, One of the strong keys to manage your career effectively is to build a strong and varied network. Why is it important? Each and every job seeker and even the ones who are employed must look forward to always find out some professional relations. It is important to build such relations because it works even more than a resume. Hum sab ko pata hai normal interviews se zyada referrals kaam kar jaate hai. So what is networking? Kya hai networking Networking is technically meeting people and establishing a beneficial relationship. I look at it as just keeping a high profile, always letting people know what you're looking for, and helping to connect others to what they're looking for. Careers are grown this way. Businesses are built this way. Friendships are founded this way. If you don't do this, you will suffer. For some, it's a skill that needs to be learned. For extroverts like me, it comes naturally – I never think "I'm networking now." I just like connecting people to people and many such opportunities as well. Always try to have an intension to discover, explore and be open. To ab baat karte hai unn cheezon ki jisse aap naye aur ache relations aur networks bana sako: Pehla hai: 1.Speak. Take every opportunity to speak about your business - your passion. This means everything from talking about what you do with the local shop keeper to making presentations to large groups. Jitna zyada aap apne business ya interests ke bare me bataoge, logon ko utna hi aapke bare mein zyada pata lagne lagega. And which can anyway help you in building your carrer. 2. Participate. Join professional organizations. It is better to belong to fewer organizations and take an active role in them then to belong to many with organizations with superficial connections to the membership. Truly participating allows you to really get to know people and thereby supports your desire to build professional relationships with them. 3. Publish. Writing articles and e-articles is a great way to communicate your passion. Take some time to write a few articles related to your goals/interests that will provide value to the readers.Readers of your articles will seek you out and become part of your network. 4. Create. If there isn't an organization that fits with your objectives, create one. It can be a physical organization or a virtual one. Being the founder of the organization gives you instant credibility with your entire membership and gives you opportunity to define and mold it. 5. Volunteer. Volunteering is a great way to build professional relationships while giving back to the community. Take a volunteer position that allows you to use your skills and express your passion. Your network will grow along with your sense of accomplishment. So ye the 5 tarike jisse aap network create kar sakte ho. Par un networks ko nibhake bhi to rakhna padega hena? Here are five ways to keep your network going. 1. Write. Create a newsletter or e-zine as a source of regular communication with your network. Include articles that are an easy read and provide value to the readership. Keep an updated mailing list to ensure that your newsletter reaches your entire audience. 2. Express. Express thanks, congratulations and fond wishes. Remember to send birthday cards, holiday cards, thank you cards, etc. This is a great way to show the members of your network you care while keeping a regular dialog with them. 3. Update. Every time there is a change to your organization, your work status or your contact details, broadcast it. Use these life changes as opportunities to remind your network that you are there. 4. Telephone. Mass media like e-mail and newsletters are great for consistent communication. But enduring business relationships require much more. One way to stay in touch and build stronger bonds with your network is to commit to at least one call a week. These are people you selected, you should enjoy them. So take the 15 minutes to half an hour it takes each week to keep the network alive. 5. Socialize. A great way to build and nurture your network and help people build theirs is to host an event. This can be a random event at your house or a recurring event at a chosen meeting place. This will provide an informal way to get together and connect the members of your network with each other. If each member brings a member of their network, it will also help to significantly expand yours. more interesting topic next time to till then please like share and subscribe our channel budding.in. What is BUSINESS NETWORKING? What does BUSINESS NETWORKING mean? BUSINESS NETWORKING meaning

What is BUSINESS NETWORKING? What does BUSINESS NETWORKING mean? BUSINESS NETWORKING meaning - BUSINESS NETWORKING definition - BUSINESS NETWORKING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Networking is a socioeconomic business activity by which businesspeople and entrepreneurs meet to form business relationships and to recognize, create, or act upon business opportunities, share information and seek potential partners for ventures. In the second half of the twentieth century, the concept of networking was promoted to help businesspeople to build their social capital. In the US, workplace equity advocates encouraged business networking by members of marginalized groups (e.g., women, African-Americans, etc.) to identify and address the challenges barring them from professional success. Mainstream business literature subsequently adopted the terms and concepts, promoting them as pathways to success for all career climbers. Since the closing decades of the twentieth century, "networking" has become an accepted term and concept in American society. In the 2000s, "networking" has expanded beyond its roots as a business practice to the point that parents meeting to share child-rearing tips to scientists meeting research colleagues are described as engaging in "networking". A business network is a type of business social network which is developed to help businesspeople connect with other managers and entrepreneurs to further each other's business interests by forming mutually beneficial business relationships. There are several prominent business networking organizations that create models of business networking activity that, when followed, allow the business person to build new business relationships and generate business opportunities at the same time. A professional network service is an implementation of information technology in support of business networking. Chambers of Commerce and other business-oriented groups may also organize networking activities. Many business people contend business networking is a more cost-effective method of generating new business than advertising or public relations efforts. This is because business networking is a low-cost activity that involves more personal commitment than company money. Country-specific examples of informal networking are guanxi in China, blat in Russia, good ol' boy network in America, and old boy network in the UK. In the case of a formal business network, its members may agree to meet weekly or monthly or less frequently, with the purpose of sharing information, exchanging business leads and making referrals to fellow members. To complement this business activity, members often meet outside this circle, on their own time, and build their own one-to-one business relationship with fellow members. Business networking can be conducted in a local business community, at a regional level (which typically happens less often because of the travel involved) or even at a national level or international level, in the form of conferences and other fora. In the 2000s, using the Internet and teleconferencing services, it is possible for businesspeople from a similar industry or sector to connect even if they live in different regions or countries. Business networking websites have grown in the 2000s. Some Internet businesses find or set up business "leads" to sell to bigger corporations and businesses looking for new clients. ....

Is Social Media Hurting Your Mental Health? | Bailey Parnell | TEDxRyersonU

14:45
Scrolling through our social media feeds feels like a harmless part of our daily lives. But is it actually as harmless at seems? According to social media expert Bailey Parnell, our growing and unchecked obsession with social media has unintended long term consequences on our mental health. As social media continues to become part of the fabric of modern life – the “digital layer” – abstinence is becoming less of an option. Bailey think it’s high time we learned to practice safe social before it’s too late. What are the common triggers? How are they affecting you over time? How can you create a more positive experience online? Bailey covers this and more in “Is Social Media Hurting Your Mental Health?” Bailey Parnell was recently named one of Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women. She is an award-winning digital marketer, public speaker and businesswoman with a talent for helping people tell better stories. Her work and expertise have been featured on CBC, CTV & in other local Toronto media. Bailey recently founded SkillsCamp, a soft skills training company where they help people develop the essential skills needed for professional success. She also currently works in digital marketing at Ryerson University. Bailey is a frequent public speaker having spoken to more than 10 thousand people. She primarily speaks about social media, personal branding, and media and mental health. She guest lectured her first MBA class at 21-years-old and has been the youngest speaker as multiple academic conferences. She is currently pursuing her Masters in Communication and Culture with a research focus on social media and mental health, and holds an honours BA from the RTA School of Media at Ryerson. Networking Is More Than Lots of Names, Says Heidi Roizen

50:02
Networking is more than having a hefty collection of business cards and attending A-list parties. Heidi Roizen has been a Silicon Valley CEO, a venture capitalist, and a corporate board member but the homework never ends, she told Stanford Graduate School of Business students. Today, she counts on such tech luminaries as Bill Gates as one of her pals. Her network is large and powerful. But she admitted that when she began promoting SkinnySongs she, in some ways, had to start all over. Roizen wrote lyrics for her SkinnySongs and then used her easy conversational ability to convince two high-powered Nashville music producers to work with her in getting them produced, funding the venture herself. "Everyone takes your calls when you're a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley," she said. "But when you're hawking a musical product and calling up the VP of Weight Watchers, they're not all that psyched to take your call. "Credibility and power don't necessarily translate into a different world," she said. Recorded: Nov. 6, 2009 Related Article: http://www.gsb.stanford.edu/news/headlines/heidiroizen.html?cmpid=yt
Expanding and strengthening an Indigenous and local community network on customary sustainable use

23:51
John Scott This session is intended as a follow-up to the earlier submitted proposed session "CBD Article 10(c) on customary sustainable use: linking local, national and global land and sea managers and sharing obstacles, opportunities and ideas" (submission ID: CFP-000129). Whereas the first session will primarily focus on awareness-raising and information-sharing on 10(c), this follow-up session is aimed at building a diverse and empowered network of indigenous and local community land and sea managers who are interested and committed to work on 10(c) issues at local, national and global levels, and who are interested to share information and provide input on a regular basis. There is already an ad-hoc '10c network' within the International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB), but this network would greatly benefit from additional members bringing in new experiences and views. The session may discuss issues like: setting up and facilitating a "10(c) list serve"; coordination; dealing with and responding to official notifications; preparing for and organising events at CBD meetings. As a concrete start, we will discuss the coordination and preparation of WG8(j)-8 (2013) and COP12 (2014). The CBD secretariat, FPP, and experienced IIFB members will facilitate the networking meeting and answer questions the participants may have. Speaker Bio/s John Scott "The focus of all my work is on a rights-based approach to Social Justice for Indigenous peoples and my education has given me the tools for this ongoing human rights struggle." Mr. John Scott Through his Father (Jack Scott) and his Grandmother (Catherine Maud Evans), Mr. Scott is a descendant of the Iningai people (Indigenous Australian) of central Queensland (Barcaldine area). They are Freshwater Murris. Mr. Scott has a significant background in education, social policy, law, indigenous rights and traditional knowledge. He has moved through various incarnations to get where he is today including as a leading senior high school teacher, Aboriginal Education Advisor, Chief Educational Officer for Aboriginal Programs, Deputy Director for the School of Indigenous Australian Studies at James Cook University, Manager of the Cultural Rights Unit of the National Policy Branch with National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC), Indigenous Human Rights Officer with the United Nations High Commission on Human Rights (OHCHR), and second in charge of the Secretariat of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Currently Mr. Scott is the Programme Officer for Traditional Knowledge for the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity since 2004. Mr. Scott has led Indigenous Australian delegations to many different conferences in many different parts of the world. Through these conferences he has worked in and on many different Indigenous issues including education, culture, traditional knowledge, and human rights. Through his work with the Convention on Biological Diversity, Mr. Scott has successfully created a mutually beneficial dialogue between indigenous peoples and governments for protecting and promoting Traditional Knowledge and customary use of biodiversity. Mr. Scott's education: Diploma of Secondary Teaching (Arts/Humanities), Graduate Diploma in Aboriginal Education (with Distinction), Master of (Indigenous) Legal Studies.

The Quantum Internet | Stephanie Wehner | TEDxVienna

15:05
The goal of a quantum internet is to connect quantum processors using long distance quantum communication. The internet has had a revolutionary impact on our world. The long-term vision of this talk is to build a matching quantum internet that will operate in parallel to the internet we have today. This quantum internet will enable long-range quantum communication in order to achieve unparalleled capabilities that are provably impossible using only classical means. Stephanie starts by exploring what a quantum internet is good for, and gives an intuition why quantum communication is so powerful. She proceeds from the state of the art today, towards stages for a full blown quantum internet. As an example, she discusses the efforts of the EU quantum internet alliance including the planned demonstration network connecting four Dutch cities in 2020. Stephanie Wehner is an Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Professor at QuTech, Delft University of Technology, where she leads the Quantum Internet efforts. Her passion is the theory of quantum information in all its facets, and she has written numerous scientific articles in both physics and computer science. In a former life, she worked as a professional hacker in industry. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Why One To One Communication SUCKS | Professional Networking Tips For Lawyers

05:40
✔️SUBSCRIBE✔️ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwwONWb7JPUMjmmQhnnLfLQ?sub_confirmation=1 If your law firm isn’t practicing one to many marketing, you’re missing out. In this video, I give you professional networking tips and explain why one to one communication is ineffective for growing your law firm. For 13 years now, I’ve worked with thousands of lawyers and other professionals to help them understand how to find and win new clients. One of the most important professional networking tips I offer lawyers is that networking one on one is draining and unproductive. Here’s why: - Networking in a one on one setting takes too much time. Because it can take weeks, months, or even years to earn the trust of just one potential client, you need to build many relationships simultaneously, so that you always have new clients and matters in your pipeline. - One to one communication is like putting all your eggs in one basket. One to many marketing, on the other hand, lets you spread your message. You can reach out to dozens, hundreds, or thousands of potential clients at the same time by speaking at industry events or writing articles for trade publications. - When you focus on one to one communication, you end up with clients who expect you to be personally, intimately involved with their cases. This is problematic, because if you want to grow your law firm like a business, you need to be able to source cases and have them be handled by others in your firm. Don’t waste your time and energy concentrating on one potential client at a time. Instead, make use of one to many marketing. Quit social media | Dr. Cal Newport | TEDxTysons

13:51
'Deep work' will make you better at what you do. You will achieve more in less time. And feel the sense of true fulfillment that comes from the mastery of a skill. Cal Newport is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Georgetown University. In addition to studying the theoretical foundations of our digital age, Newport also writes about the impact of these technologies on the world of work. His most recent book, Deep Work, argues that focus is the new I.Q. in the modern workplace and that the ability to concentrate without distraction is becoming increasingly valuable. He previously wrote So Good They Can’t Ignore You, a book which debunks the long-held belief that “follow your passion” is good advice, and three popular books of unconventional advice for students. The life and times of the Global Alliance of Publication Professionals (GAPP)

15:21
Jackie Marchington, Director of Global Operations, Caudex, and former member of GAPP, reflects on six years of responding to misleading articles about medical publications professionals. Recorded 4 July 2018 at a MedComms Networking event in Oxford. Produced by NetworkPharma.tv = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = ABSTRACT: GAPP was founded in 2012 to defend the reputation of medical publications professionals by providing a timely, credible response to misleading, influential stories that assumed that ghost-writing of articles was still common - as it had been 10 years or more previously - and/or conflated ghost-writing with professional medical writing support or suggested that spin and selective reporting were the norm. The GAPP team comprised five members who were passionate advocates for the profession, and who took 10-week turns leading the team and otherwise worked in a review/approval role. Members took responsibility for finding an appropriately qualified successor on exit. Trigger articles were alerted by active surveillance, though most came through referrals. The GAPP team made it their business to correct misinterpretation, cite third party guidance, refute anecdote with evidence and highlight current guidance and behaviour. GAPP published 50 responses to misleading articles during its six-year lifespan, along with four proactive articles. Happily, articles on ghost-writing saw a substantial decline over this time, with GAPP responding to only four articles in 2017. Misinformed and poorly researched articles are still being published, but they have been focusing less and less on professional medical writing, and the conversation about industry-funded research has been moving toward data disclosure and clinical trial transparency. GAPP stepped down on 2 May 2018 - though continues to maintain its website at http://gappteam.org. Written by Penny Gray, Freelance Medical Writer = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = We are building a library of free webcasts, like this one, for the global MedComms Community and others at http://www.networkpharma.tv and we’d welcome your suggestions for new topics and speakers. Director of Community and Economic Development in White County, Tom O'Bryant, reiterated the significance of this event, "Through sound community and economic policy, long-term planning, and 21st century infrastructure investment our community is fostering an environment that not only meets the needs of business today, but will serve as a launching pad for new and innovative businesses that will emerge in the future. The North Georgia Network fiber will help bring this environment to a reality." Community members, special guests and network officials turned out for the celebration, recognizing the ambitious nature of the project, which began as an "idea" in 2006 and progressed to funding in late 2009, early 2010 through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Reflecting on events leading up to the ceremony and recognizing individuals for their efforts, Bruce Abraham, CEO and President of the North Georgia Network, stated "This is all about creating capacity for people and creating jobs here. This is about jobs for your neighbors. This is about jobs for yourself. " Just before "lighting" up the C-POP, Abraham made the resounding closing remarks, "We will have left good work here for folks and we'll create jobs for people." What is ENTERPRISE SOCIAL NETWORKING? What does ENTERPRISE SOCIAL NETWORKING mean? ENTERPRISE SOCIAL NETWORKING meaning - ENTERPRISE SOCIAL NETWORKING definition - ENTERPRISE SOCIAL NETWORKING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Enterprise social networking focuses on the use of online social networks or social relations among people who share business interests and/or activities. Enterprise social networking is often a facility of enterprise social software (regarded as a primary component of Enterprise 2.0), which is essentially social software used in "enterprise" (business/commercial) contexts. It encompasses modifications to corporate intranets (referred to as social intranets) and other classic software platforms used by large companies to organize their communication, collaboration and other aspects of their intranets. Enterprise social networking is also generally thought to include the use of a standard external social networking service to generate visibility for an enterprise. Many companies are starting to implement social networks to promote collaboration amongst their employees. Vendors are now starting to use this as a way to help out the different companies. Some companies are starting to teach their employees about cloud computing and SaaS. These new technologies are being added to the enterprise social networks. These networks are being implemented to get employees collaborating and sharing tips and ideas about how to improve the workplace. Some social networks are homegrown systems that are built internally. Companies are using social networks to trade information amongst team members or other people who are part of the company. Sometimes this might also mean trading documents in real time. Based on research by Gartner (2010), 50% of enterprises will be using some sort of social network by 2012. Companies such as Jive Software and IBM have recently been doing research to see how social networking can impact enterprise networks. Different companies have embraced social networking and they are creating their own internal social networking sites. IBM is one example and they have created the Beehive research project, based on their Lotus Connections product. Another example is Atos, which is deploying its in house blueKiwi product across all 76,000 employees to achieve its Zero Email ambition by the end of 2013. Many companies are encouraging employees to use their social networks so they can connect with other employees, help people socialize when they take a break, or even help contribute to other work-related issues. Some companies are even joining typical social networking sites like Facebook or MySpace to gain more clients, communicate with their clients, or target individuals based on their likes. These companies want to gain the trust of their clients. The year 2009 saw 92% of Inc. 500 companies using at least one social media channel, a dramatic increase over the 77% reported in 2008. Medpedia is one of about 70 medical wikis that allows physicians and researchers to share information. While the information is free and publicly available, contributions are limited to those provided by medical professionals. Intellipedia is a set of three wikis used by the US intelligence community to share information of varying classifications. Deloitte has been a pioneer in its use of the corporate social networking applications for consulting. Boral Limited was one of the first major building and construction materials companies in Australia to adopt Enterprise Social Networking using the Yammer platform. Engagement levels of over 25% were achieved. Other notable uses include Lockheed Martin and Pfizer as documented by the Queensland University of Technology (QUT)....

When you go to networking events, a natural inclination is to try to tell everyone about your business and try to sell your product. But what can benefit people more is to begin building business relationships when you hand out business cards. When you are business networking and promoting your business through giving out business cards, try to ask the people to whom you are talking to about their business and what they are currently working on. They will appreciate your willingness to help and are more likely to take an interest in your business. Additionally, when you are marketing by handing out business cards at events or conferences, try to carry a pen with you so that you can make notes on the business card about the conversation you just had so that when you follow up, you can remember the details of your conversation. And try to always follow up when you hand out and take someone's business card. That is a common courtesy, but more importantly, it is a first sign of showing that you are dependable, and reliable.
