Commodity Champions | Why is Crude Oil Price Rising? | CNBC TV18

India's import bill could bloat by $25-50 billion in the current financial year due to spike in crude oil prices, but the government sees no reason for panic saying that macroeconomic fundamentals remain sound. "....If the prices go up obviously this will have impact but under different scenarios we see the impact ranging from roughly about $25 billion to a maximum $50 billion....," department of economic affairs secretary Subhash Garg said, adding that oil is cyclical. What drives Commodity Price Changes?

What affects Commodity Prices? http://www.contracts-for-difference.com/markets/Commodity-CFDs.html If you've found this video useful, please click the like button and share it with your friends and remember to SUBSCRIBE to remain up-to-date! This article features factors that affect commodity prices - just what does cause the price of wheat gold and oil to fluctuate? Find out by clicking the above link to see all of the factors that change commodity prices. If you want to trade on the value of commodities, you can do so in several different ways. There are spot and future markets, but most traders will use a more convenient tool, such as spreadbetting, in order to play on the volatility of commodities. There are many companies that are heavily dependent on particular commodities. For instance, petrol refineries need crude oil, and this price typically changes. So you can expect the price of crude oil to have an impact on the share price of companies like Royal Dutch Shell and BP. Even if you do not trade commodities, this is a reason you may be interested in what causes commodity prices to change. And put simply, the old standby of the economist, supply and demand, govern all the fluctuations in pricing of commodities. This is not to say that supply and demand are equally important for all types of commodities. For instance, some are more dependent on supply, whereas others have a dependency on a varying demand. Consider agricultural products. These include products like wheat and corn. You're probably not going to see a big change in demand for these products, so much as you are going to see large changes in supply. These would result from crop failures and disease, weather conditions, etc. On the other hand, the supply of metals such as gold and platinum is fairly steady at any particular time. A more powerful factor in the pricing of these is how much demand there may be, and demand changes result from increasing industrialization in Third World countries, making these metals more desirable to the population, and from societal aspects such as inflation that tend to change the attitude towards precious metals. It is worth noting that the price of commodities in certain groups tends to move up and down in tandem. In the precious metals, gold, silver, platinum, and palladium would all tend to go up and down together in value. It is unlikely that you would see the price of gold fall and the price of palladium soar at the same time. Similarly, if you consider grains such as oats, corn, and wheat, these prices are likely to move in concert. To some extent, each can be a substitute for another. If the price of oats goes up, then farmers may buy more corn to feed their livestock, and this increase in demand for corn makes that price rise too. Although we are talking about commodities, you can also see this in effect in some stocks and shares. As an example, you would usually see the shares of banks such as RBS and Barclays going up and down together, unless there is a particular scandal or revelation about one of them. It is because of this that many traders limit the amount of exposure in any particular market sector. Diversifying by buying into different companies does not give diversfication if all the companies' shares rise and fall together.

This Metal Is Your Best Bet Right Now Says Commodities Trader

07:01
Silver has the best potential for growth of all the metals, according to Andrew Hecht, author of the Hecht Commodities Report. Hecht noted that the gold-silver ratio is at the highest level since 1993, and while the white metal has been a laggard to its gold counterpart lately, it has the potential to see sudden moves. “Silver is very disappointing, but silver is one of those metals that just likes to sit there and do nothing and then all of a sudden move. I need to see silver get above $15.07 an ounce on a technical basis to validate the recent move in gold, and it just hasn’t wanted to do that,” Hecht told Kitco News. Hecht said that silver’s current price is positioned to stage a rally but like all precious metals, investment demand is needed to drive the path of least resistance of price. “I would buy silver on a tight stop because on a percentage basis it’s got the biggest chance to move significantly higher if these metals are going to go higher, and the stop level probably for silver is below the $14.40 level,” he said. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Commodities To Strengthen In Next 12 Months - Fundamental Research

05:10
Several macroeconomic forces are aligned to push commodity prices higher over the next year, this according to Siddharth Rajeev, head of research at Fundamental Research Corp. “I think the fundamentals remain strong. Our outlook is that in the next 12 months, commodity prices should strengthen, mainly because we expect a weakness in the U.S. dollar, that’s contrary to what a lot of people say,” Rajeev told Kitco News on the sidelines of the Silver & Gold Summit in San Francisco. Rajeev attributes dollar weakness to two factors: slower GDP growth in the U.S. in 2019, and the ongoing trade war that would cause the Chinese to demand less U.S. dollar. _________________________________________________________________ Kitco News is the world’s #1 source of metals market information. Year to date commodities have largely outperformed equities given marginally increasing inflation and a still weak dollar policy. Which Markets To Trade? Trading Commodities 👍

08:43
Which Markets To Trade? Trading Commodities http://www.financial-spread-betting.com/commodities/commodities-spread-betting.html PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE THIS VIDEO SO WE CAN DO MORE! Commodities like sugar, soybean and wheat are an asset class that you may have thought out of your reach but given spread betting there might never have been a better time to start trading commodities. In these volatile times you can use spread betting, futures, options and CFDs to access commodities trading and make money out of trading them in much the same way that you do spread betting on gold or crude oil. It is also worth noting here that sugar is one of the most liquid soft commodities you could spread bet on with a bid-offer of about $1.7. Trading Commodities Finally in this short review of the markets you can trade, you can consider trading on commodities. Commodities are usually traded in large quantities, and trading volume is high, which means they are readily available, even though you may find higher spreads than with some other markets. Commodities include a whole host of items. One of the most well-known is crude oil, which actually comes in two variations, West Texas and Brent. The price of oil can be affected by many world matters. OPEC is in control, but you can find political situations where countries can reduce their output or increase it, with a corresponding effect. In fact, we don’t have many days supply of oil in store at any particular time, so the price is responsive to market impacts. Longer-term oil prices are affected by the severity of winters, increasing efficiencies, shale oil production, and demand such as that from China, with its expanding economy. Another well-known commodity that can be traded readily is gold. The price of gold has been less volatile recently than historically, but can still give opportunities. Gold is always regarded as a safe haven for cash when it seems that cash is becoming worth less and stocks and shares are in a down market. Threats of war seem to cause a rush to physical wealth such as gold. Again, you can use technical analysis techniques to anticipate possible moves. Along with gold, silver is another precious metal that has much the same characteristics, even though it is significantly cheaper than gold. If you chart gold and silver together you will quite often find they move in concert. The interesting thing is that their characteristics are very different. Most of the gold that has ever been mind is still available in some form such as jewellery. But very little of the total production of silver is still around. Silver is used in industrial processes, and was notably used extensively for photography in the last century. It gets used up, and companies that need it are always looking to buy it on the futures market in order to lock in the price. Even so, gold and silver prices tend to be in a fixed ratio over the years. There are many other commodities. All the soft commodities include the agricultural products such as corn, wheat, hogs, and cattle. Obviously these prices are seasonal and are also affected by the weather. You’ll find that the prices tend to have wider spreads than the hard goods. Whatever market you decide to trade in, you are spoiled for choice. But if you change your focus from week to week, as you find it difficult to make money in your latest slot, the danger is that you will never learn any of the markets and be unable to trade effectively. You need to focus for a time on particular markets and get to know them. Every trader has strengths and weaknesses, and in time you will find a market that is best suited to your style of trading.

Deterioration In Shale Oil Keeps Oil Prices High (w/ Russell Clark) | Interview | Real Vision™

02:16
Russell Clark of Horseman Capital has been building a short thesis on US shale oil and semiconductor stocks. He thinks that the decline in shale sand efficiency will be a force that drives the oil price higher and put downward pressure on the USD as future foreign investment diverts away from the US to alternative international opportunities. So if oil prices rise too much, it will come in-- production will suddenly increase and then prices fall down again. I actually think it's almost the opposite. Because of the structure of the industry where the landowners keep pushing up prices then they know you have to buy and there's a sort of tension and because it's increased so much, you have a natural decline about 500,000 barrels a year now. If they stop drilling in the States-- actually it'd drop more than that. It'd be like 6 or 700,000 barrels would drop out of US production straight away. That's quite a lot of oil that just drops out and needs to be replaced. And so, actually, the shale industry doesn't keep oil prices suppressed, it's actually, I think, about to become something that actually keeps prices high. If you think about how shale has transformed legacy decline-- so in the old days, before shale, you used to have to replace 50, 100,000, maybe, barrels of oil a year. Now you have to replace 600. That doesn't suppress prices, that actually raises them up. And so the biggest disconnect then in the market-- and, at the moment, it makes sense because there's a lot of this excess production in the States that's hard to get out. But it would suggest to me that the spread between WTI and Brent will actually move closer over time rather than widen, which is the kind of assumptions. And if that's correct, it adds lots of very interesting dynamics to how markets will work going forward.

Inflation, Dollar Pushing Increase in Commodity Prices

02:05
Uganda Bureau of statistics says that the depreciation of the dollar has led 6.5% increase in the producer price index for manufactured goods for the year ending June 2015 compared with the year that ended June 2014. The overall producer price index for hotels and restaurants rose by 15.5% in FY 2014/2015 compared to the 12.4% rise in financial year 2013. The research based on a sample of 100 hotels across the country that earn more that Shs10m monthly indicated average change in prices that service providers receive for their services. The 6.5% and 15.5% increased in producer price index is attributed to the dollar crisis in the country caused by numerous factors like the crisis in South Sudan, increased imports inflow among other factors have led to this. The trend indicates that if structural issues affecting Uganda’s productivity and competitiveness are not addressed, the country is destined for tougher times.

Commodity Prices Reach a Two-Year High

03:59
This is the VOA Special English Economics Report, from http://voaspecialenglish.com | http://facebook.com/voalearningenglish Commodities are basic materials that are used and traded worldwide. The price of commodities helps determine how much a business can charge for a product and the profit it can make. Commodity prices have reached a two-year high since falling sharply during the world financial crisis. Hard commodities are materials like iron ore, oil and gold. Agricultural products are soft commodities. These include wheat, cotton and rice.Economic measures show the world economy is recovering unevenly. China and India, for example, have reported strong growth in manufacturing. Developed nations have had slower growth. John James is a business professor at Pace University in New York State. He says demand in developing economies can push up prices for commodities like oil and iron ore used for making steel. But, he says, changing currency values can also influence prices. He says the increase in the price of commodities is a reflection of the instability of both the euro and the dollar. The best example of that is gold.Gold prices have reached record levels in recent months. That means gold dealers must pay more for the commodity now than they did only a year ago. That affects current prices. Not surprisingly, manufacturers want some control over the prices they pay for commodities. Futures contracts are agreements between a buyer and a seller to exchange something at a set price at some time in the future. These contracts let buyers lock in a price for basic materials. But some traders in futures markets only want to make a profit. They buy or sell contracts depending on the direction they believe prices will go. These speculators get blamed when prices rise, or fall, too quickly. The United States, Germany and France are looking into ways to limit this kind of trading. Some experts say exporting commodities is not a good path to long-term economic growth. The United Nations recently reported that the least developed countries must change their economies to provide good incomes for their citizens.Supachai Panitchpakdi leads the UN development group UNCTAD. He says the least developed countries need to cut dependence on commodities and manufacture products for export. He says only this will let them gain from world trade. Indonesian Officials Attempt to Stabilize Commodity Prices

02:05
On to Indonesia, where the prices of commodities are skyrocketing. But as our correspondent reports... one government program is trying to change that. Indonesia's Minister of Trade and the Vice Governor of Jakarta were out and about Saturday to see how a campaign called the "Market Operation of Rice" was going. The "Market Operation of Rice" is a program created by the Indonesian government to prevent more price increases of rice across the country. The way the program works is that it sets a fixed price to sell the rice... and traders at markets like these are expected to sell the grain for whatever that established price may be. The program is expected to gradually normalize the price of rice and other basic commodities. During the inspection, the Minister of Trade also talked with a number of traders to get a sense of how the program is working for them. The Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics recorded a significant price increase of basic commodities during the month of July. They noted that the price of cayenne pepper increased by more than 50%... and red chili more than 45%. Even beef costs the same as chili pound for pound. Indonesia's Papua region experienced the most significant price increases of 500% to 700%. The increases were allegedly triggered by the increase of electricity rates in early July, followed by the increase of toll road fees in mid-July. [Siti Aminah -- Jakarta Citizen] "Yeah, it's tough for us, especially as I am a retired, although I have no dependent children, but for myself it was quite tough, because all of the prices have increased. Like electricity tariff, basic commodities prices." [Setiajaya -- Jakarta Citizen]: "Hopefully the price can decrease as soon as possible. " In the near future, the "Market Operation of Rice" will also be implemented in Banten, North Sumatra, and various other areas that show signs of significant price increases. What Makes Stock Prices Move Up and Down

03:16
To understand what makes stocks and shares price move you must first understand a few things about the current pricing of a stock. At any given time during regular trading hours a stock has 3 values associated with it. A bid, an ask, and a current price. The bid is the highest amount someone is currently willing to pay for a share of stock, while the ask is the lowest amount someone is currently willing to accept for a share of stock. Each number will usually be shown next to the number of shares the investor is offering or asking for. The price of a stock at any given time is simply the last price a share of that stock sold for. Usually the bid and the ask are relatively close to the current share price. The difference between the bid and the ask is called the spread and it is usually healthier for a stock to have a smaller spread. Now we will talk about what makes the price of stock change. If you have ever taken a beginners economics course you probably remember learning about supply and demand. The concept is quite simple. If there is a larger supply of a product than there is demand, the price will likely drop. If there is a greater demand and not enough supply to match, than the price will probably rise. This is also true with stocks and shares. As was explained in lesson 1, the stock market is a literal market where a product, namely ownership of a company, is bought and sold. This means it runs on similar economic principles. If there are a lot of investors trying to sell a stock, and a much smaller number of investors looking to buy that same stock, the price will of the stock will begin dropping. Let’s look closer at the reasoning behind the price drop by creating a mini-market with five people; John, Jessica, Jeremy, Janet, and Jimmy. We will pretend that all five of these investors own 100 shares of stock in Company A. One day they find out that Company A messed up on a new product and it will be delayed for a year. Four of them decide to sell their shares in the company and put them up for sale. Unfortunately, due to the news, there is only one investor that is interested in buying the stock for its current price. John sells his shares, but that leaves Jessica, Jeremy, and Janet, all with shares they still would like to sell. There is nobody willing to buy at the current price, but one investor has offered to buy at a price $1 lower than the current price. Jessica sells to the investor, and the current stock price adjusts to show a current worth that is $1 less than before. If Jeremy and Janet decide to sell as well, they may push the current price even lower as they seek to find investors to purchase their shares of stock. Sometimes when a company announces extremely bad news you can see the worth of a single share of stock drop more than 50% in a single day. World Bank predicts a rise in crude prices will hike commodity prices

02:06
Commodity prices are high and set to get higher according to the World Bank. The reason behind this is an expected rise in the price of crude oil this year and the next. The lender kept its crude oil price forecast for 2017 unchanged at 55 U.S. dollars per barrel. The projection is unchanged from its previous forecast made in January. The rising oil prices will be supported by production cutbacks by members of OPEC and non-OPEC states. It forecasted the prices of energy commodities will rise 26 percent this year and the growth rate of price will slow down to 8 percent next year. Prices for non-energy commodities, which include agricultural products, fertilizers, metals and minerals, are projected to increase four percent this year and 0.7 percent Subscribe to us on YouTube: http://ow.ly/Zvqj30aIsgY Follow us on: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cgtnafrica/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/cgtnafrica

JUST IN: Mnangagwa's government orders shop owners to reduce prices of basic commodities immediately. THE Government has directed that prices of basic commodities increased without justification be reduced immediately, as it moves to bring sanity on the market. Retailers are hiking prices of basic commodities daily in a move that has caused panic on the market, leading to artificial shortages. Further, Government directed that no businesses should reject bond notes and other electronic payments when transacting. With regards to the proposed two cents tax per dollar, Government said there was no need for the public to panic as this was yet to be implemented and still being fine-tuned. Those who defy these directives will face drastic action and with regards to those in the fuel sector, they risk revocation of their licences. Announcing the Government position soon after yesterday’s Cabinet meeting at Munhumutapa Government Offices in Harare, Vice President Kembo Mohadi assured the nation that the country had sufficient fuel and swift measures were being implemented to ensure adequate foreign currency to procure drugs for the health sector. 📽 Jacob Zuma weighs in on Zodwa Wabantu's behaviour: https://goo.gl/WREWGr 📽 Latest President Mnangagwa ignores prophet TB Joshua: https://goo.gl/AxPkWX 📽 Police find money inside Gupta's couch,Sofa, Atul Ajay officially under arrest: https://goo.gl/os3V7W 📽 True state of Tsvangirai's health revealed as South African doctors block him from flying to Germany https://goo.gl/9kFX1J 📽 LATEST Tsvangirai’s wife barred from visiting him in hospital, doctors now allowing only his mother https://goo.gl/mh7gG3 📽 PICTURES Akhumzi Jezile’s car accident scene photos https://goo.gl/mSVB8e 📽 Jacob Zuma resign as president of the republic of South Africa after meeting with King Goodwill Zwel https://goo.gl/NJ8Dve 📽 WATCH VIDEO REAL LIFE SPIDER MAN RESCUES KID https://goo.gl/o6DrVz 📽 Zodwa Wabantu's younger sister 'Zinhle Wabantu' brings in a new https://goo.gl/R6M1Kg 📽 South African 9 year old boy who married a 62 year old woman https://goo.gl/gqUrEQ 📽 Kelly khumalo claim she is pregnant with Akhumzi's baby but Jezile was barren https://goo.gl/Jwi73x ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ►Mugabe: https://goo.gl/7eknBE ►Mnangagwa: https://goo.gl/Fv731w ►Chamisa: https://goo.gl/HtGeBg ► Hot news: https://goo.gl/J7mUhU ► ANC: https://goo.gl/x9xRAu ► Scandal: https://goo.gl/YGe8cw ► Zimbawe updates: https://goo.gl/2MJUjp ..........................................................................................
