If you’ve ever wondered what a gold mine looks like from the side then this video is for you! And while we’re at it I’ll step you through every stage of how this awesome diorama was built. The techniques used to build this diorama can be used whether you’re building a huge model railroad or just a tiny little master piece of a model, you can also use these techniques for war gaming scenery however when it comes to sealing the scenery with Woodland Scenics Scenic Cement I’d use it undiluted for extra strength. The hot wire tools I use in the video are supplied from ‘The Hot Wire Foam Factory’ and I’m giving you my 100% honest opinion that these tools are absolutely fantastic! This diorama idea has been on the cards for over 12 months and it was not until I started to use the hot wire tools that I was able to get the results I was after! I highly recommend these tools! If you down here reading these comments…. THANK YOU. I’m glad you’ve been enjoying the videos and don’t forget that if you’d like to help support these videos you can go over to patreon and donate to the channel, I have some perks for different levels of donation. The music used throughout the video is from Epidemic Sound using their YouTube Subscription License and the intro tune is licensed through Premium Beat.

First coal was delivered by the Corrimal Colliery Incline model on Sunday 3rd November 2013. This model of a self-acting incline uses magnets on chains below the tracks to move 1/43 scale models of 2' gauge coal skips along the tracks. The ruling grade of the incline tracks is approximately 25% or 1 in 4. Scenery around the tracks and the incline cables are yet to be installed.

Listen to the pieces of 'coal' falling and rising on the moving conveyor belt. This is Bekonscot Model Village and Railway, the oldest miniature model village in the world. The displays are stunningly detailed. The use of many motorised models such as trains, tram cars, coal mines, fun fairs really brings the villages to life and demonstrates the amount of attention to detail that has gone in to building the place. Entrance tickets are very reasonable and all proceeds go to charity. There are some non-model attractions inside for kids such as a playground, games, R/C boats and even a mini railway to takes people of all ages around the village for just £1. This was my first visit to a model village but left me very impressed by the sheer amount of time and effort that has gone into making it what it is today. "Bekonscot Model Village actually comprises of six little towns stuck in a 1930s timewarp. Each with its own character!"

An historic photo compilation on the historic coal mining village of Bayview, Alabama. First planned as a model mining community by the Tennessee Coal Iron & Railroad Company in western Jefferson County between 1908/09 on the recently opened coal mine at Bayview and the completion of TCI's new water reservoir located there. Bayview was one of three newly modeled mining villages in the area with the other two being Docena and Edgewater nearby. Each of these planned mining villages contained their own schools, doctors offices, post office and commissary. During World War 1 Bayview achieved its highest coal production and population growth with over 500 families residing in the village. During the late 1920's and on into the early 1930's with the Great Depression sweeping across the country steel and pig iron production fell off in the company's nearby blast furnaces at Fairfield and Ensley causing TCI & United States Steel to close the Bayview Coal Mine. Coal miners that were fortunate enough to keep their jobs transferred to the nearby coal mines of Edgewater & Docena. In later years TCI sold all the workers homes at Bayview back to the employees. Present day Bayview still thrives as a community today and even after being incorporated into the nearby town of Mulga they still retain the Bayview name and their own identity.

Just a quick video of my layout in progress. It's a Norfolk Southern "Horsehead" railroad, to be set around a modern day Appalachian Mountain coal mine. I haven't quite figured out the season yet, but most likely mid to late summer for simplicity. This is my first model railroad layout. It's currently running DC, but will be converted to DCC as work progresses. It's a small 4x8 layout utilizing 18" radius curves for the mainline and 15" curves for the mining line, as well as a yard/staging area to add more than just continuous running.. To make the most of my limited layout size, I chose to go with raising the mining line to cross over the mainline to maximize track and to add a bit of depth to it to keep it from getting boring after a few operating sessions, as well as to add a bit more scenery, utilizing mountains, a plateau, a lake/pond, a gorge, and a river. To follow the build in a bit more detail, check out my thread on Model Railroad Forums @ http://www.modelrailroadforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19185 Thanks for watching. Professor Prasad Dhurjati and a dozen research students at University of Delaware have painstakingly broken down all of the steps in the termite microbes’ conversion of coal to natural gas, developing computer models describing each biochemical reaction as the termite microbial community transforms coal into cleaner fuel. The models serve as a quantitative tool, providing critical information for addressing the nutritional needs of the microbes and for troubleshooting metabolic bottlenecks and chokepoints. The models also can be used to simulate coal mine conditions, an environment very different from the termite gut. For more go to http://ow.ly/FKHn30nfIcY.
