A Multigenerational Team with a Diverse Knowledge Base
James R. “Rick” Frayard, CRPS®, Managing Director – Wealth Management for the William James Investment Group of UBS Financial Services, has spent nearly 35 years building a practice and a team. Since the mid ‘80s, Rick has been managing clients’ accounts and developing comprehensive financial plans using a fee-based model. He was also committed to transparency, utilizing a software platform that allowed his team to track each account and give clients a complete view of portfolio activity and performance.
“Our experience, at that time, was that most investors did not have a comprehensive plan and so did not fully understand what was happening in their accounts,” Rick says. “We began team-based planning and professional account management because we understood the necessity and value for our clients.”
Today, William James Investment Group continues to strive to anticipate and serve the needs of business owners and individual investors. While Rick is still involved in managing accounts, the team’s other members now range widely in age and have a diverse knowledge base that extends far beyond retirement planning. With a client base ranging from millennials to the greatest generation, the team strives to help clients with their financial planning goals.
Ben Domingue, Financial Advisor and Certified Exit Planner Advisor (CEPA®), helps business owners unlock the value in a business they have built, minimize their tax liabilities, and create a legacy for both the business and the owners family. Shawna Elaine Prejean, Financial Advisor and Portfolio Manager, serves a female client base including many widows and divorcees who face unique financial challenges. Shawna provides custom guidance throughout a clients’ retirement to assist them in meeting their goals.
Travis Frayard, Financial Advisor, CFP®, CIMA®, helps to manage qualified retirement plan funds for corporate clients, as well as Trusts, Endowments, and Charitable Funds for individual clients.
“We concentrate on value-added services” Travis says, “such as helping clients prepare to sell their business, envision their new life, plan for their children, and organize their estate. Our job is to take care of clients’ needs before they realize they have them. We strive for a more personal relationship with our clients.”

“It’s a very intentional process that starts on day one,” Rick says. “We make sure clients understand how to access their portfolios, we ask about their preferences for working with us, and we get down to weekly communications with them. We cover quite a bit of territory to make clients feel comfortable and at ease working with us.”
“On a weekly basis, we meet to conduct detailed portfolio reviews,” Travis adds. “Every client is profiled with the goal of understanding their needs. We’re not a fly-by-night operation; we have a team and a process, and we are built to stay.”
