Want people to open your e-newsletters? Wix.com offers tips, and techniques on how to do exactly that. Learn best practices for creating and sending out newsletters that your clients will love to read. Creating an engaged customer base is hard to do. And it starts with creating a successful newsletter. Even though social media is important, email is often overlooked. Learn how to best leverage your email marketing. Learn more at http://www.wixeducation.com Transcript: Newsletters offer a simple and affordable way to communicate with your network and strengthen your brand. In order to write great newsletters, you need to start with the end in mind. That means, you need to know what it is you want your readers to DO when they read your newsletter. This is your call to action and every newsletter needs one. Examples of a call to action can be to: · Use a coupon code · RSVP to an upcoming event · visit your website to read about new products Once you’ve established your call for action, try to think about how you can lead readers to it without sounding too pushy. Next step - The Subject Line Like you, your subscribers likely scan their email inbox looking to clean it out and delete unwanted mails. Don’t give them an excuse to delete your newsletter! When writing your subject line, use these rules of thumb: · People are more likely to open emails with a timely or enticing premise in the title. · Good subject lines are attention-grabbing and thought-provoking. “Our August Newsletter” won’t do the trick. · Your subject line should be between 5 and 7 words long · Don’t use all capital letters and be wary of using exclamation points. They can make your email look like spam and many email services will block it. What’s the best practice? Before you hit send, read the subject line to yourself and decide - would I open this email? Next, choose great images for your newsletter. They should be relevant to your business, interesting or beautiful to look at. (Or you can just use kittens or babies.) Pictures are a great way to catch your readers’ attention and encourage them to keep reading. When coupled with a catchy title, they can go a long way in increasing open rates. What’s the best practice? - Use compelling, original images in high resolution. Or kittens. Content is key to achieving your goal! Not sure how to produce good content? Here are a few tips: · Make sure your newsletters share either timely, educational or valuable content. Don’t write fluff just to fill the page. · Break your newsletter up into short paragraphs with headers. Long paragraphs can cause readers’ eyes to quickly glaze over. Get to the point. Write only as much as you need to get the message across. · Keep jargon out. Don’t try to show off; it’s not a term paper. Use a casual, but professional tone. Be friendly and informative. What’s the best practice? Fill your emails with interesting and relevant articles, tips, links to great websites or inspirational ideas. Vary the content in each of your newsletters to keep them fresh. Write content worth reading. Finally, when sending out your newsletter, remember to think about timing and frequency. Don’t exhaust your subscribers with constant emails. They’ll unsubscribe. On the other hand, if you promised a monthly newsletter chock full of tips or coupons, keep your promise and stick to a regular schedule. Send out newsletters in the morning, ideally on a work day. That way, they have the best chance of being read. Emails sent on Friday afternoon can easily get buried in your subscribers’ inboxes over the weekend. What’s the best practice? Send out your newsletter once a month or once a season on a Monday or Tuesday morning. Ready to get started? http://www.homecaremarketing.net "Helping Service Providers Find Those in Need of Care" 848-444-9865 YES, absolutely. As a business owner, I get probably 50-100 emails DAILY, and at least 25% of those are various e-newsletters that I have signed up for at one time or another. I skim through these, looking for tips and ideas I can implement to help my business and my clients’ businesses. These are helpful to me…but at the same time, they can be overwhelming. Additionally, as a business owner, my company sends out its own e-newsletter to subscribers on a weekly basis. I sometimes can’t help but wonder if my newsletter gets lost in the shuffle,. Nowadays, much like having a website, if you own a business, you MUST put out an e-newsletter to keep up with the times, even though you may feel email could be too “spammy.” For today’s episode of A Drink with “The Hurricane," we hear from one of my Power Partners to give us some insight on this important business topic. Valerie VanBooven, of LTC Expert Publications, is an Internet Lead Generation mastermind for the Home Care industry. As you have seen the past few weeks, she is a true student of the industry. She stays current on what works and what doesn’t, and she has some GREAT advice about that e-newsletter you send out every week or month to your subscribers. First off, you must remember that you are not your client and you are not your prospect! In most situations, the people who receive your newsletter are not as web savvy as you are. They typically don’t receive thousands of emails a week, and your newsletter is NOT simply “spam” that they delete without reading. Your newsletter can be seen as a valuable resource to people who are dealing with the difficult situation of an aging loved one. So, take your own views and thought out of the equation, and put yourself in their shoes. Think about it like a car ad. When you are in the market for a new car, you are paying attention to car ads, whether they be in the paper, magazines, on TV or online. You are looking for information about cars, so they all catch your attention. But if you are not in the market for a car, the ads seem to just blend into all the other advertising that we are used to seeing on a daily basis. Nothing jumps out at you. I’m sure you don’t think to yourself…”Man, I wish Toyota would stop advertising so much!” It’s just an irrelevant thing. Same thing with eldercare. People don’t typically make an active decision to start looking into home care. Usually, there is a situation that comes up, whether an illness, injury, or declining mental status, that makes a person aware quite suddenly, WE NEED HELP. At that moment, your newsletter can be the saving grace this person didn’t even know they were looking for. Now they are paying attention. Sending a newsletter to the people in your community is very important…and nowadays…it’s so simple to do. It all goes back to the content we discussed a few weeks ago. We can teach you how to set up the newsletter so it goes out automatically, and people can sign up right through your website. Technology has come a long way, and with this free and easy to use resource right at your fingertips, you don’t want to miss out on potential clients just because you don’t know where to begin. We are here to help you! Valerie will be hosting a webinar on June 18th, for the Home Care Revenue Builders members, discussing tips for e-newsletters and more to grow your business and ultimately "Blow Away the Competition!" See what the buzz is all about! Join Home Care Revenue Builders TODAY! In our most recent public webinar, (see recording here) I discussed a recent study conducted by Home Care Pulse, which explains over 80% of a Home Care agency's revenue comes from direct referral and internet leads. This is just to test the waters out without damaging your real website's ranking or listing on search engines. It will take some time before the results will start to sink in. Therefore, you need to continue using the techniques for a good month and see how it goes. What is a newsletter and should you have one? Today one of the major ways that business owners keep in touch with their clients is through newsletters. With auto responders and what's called broadcast emailing you're able to send out updated information about your product or service with the click of a button. You can schedule the emails to go out daily, weekly, monthly, either way that fits your business. Newsletters don't necessarily have to be about your business or products, they can contain anything that you choose to share with your particular list, things like poems, new systems that are coming available, others who are starting a business, and the list goes on and on. And its a great way to keep in touch with your perspective buyers. http://speakwithlarry.com
