A CFD simulation has been carried out on a pipe with a 90 degree bend using Fluent and then the results obtained from the CFD simulation were connected to the structural analysis module in ANSYS to study the stress and deformation on the 90 degree bend due to pressure.

Introduction The simulation exercises in the new set of locks of Panama Canal were carried out between September 11th 2015 and April 14th 2016 at FHM the “Fundação Homem de Mar” Manoeuvring Simulator Class A in Rio de Janeiro. The study aimed at analysing, using mathematical models, the safe manoeuvrability of a Neo-Panamax vessel, fully loaded, on day light, passing the new locks and assisted by tugboats of similar characteristics than those operating at the time the study was implemented. Different environmental conditions historically recorded in the area, including current and wind, were used in the simulation exercises. Cancer that occurs in individuals is caused by the accumulation of genetic mutations. Although cancer susceptibility genes have been found and drugs that can be used on numerous people have been developed, the success rate is less than satisfactory. Since cancer is ultimately different between individuals, we believe that a tailor-made specific treatment for each individual is required. DNA sequencing is carried out on cancer cells from individuals which have accumulated genetic mutations, and the degree of activity comprehensively analyzed via RNA sequencing. Using a newly developed bioinformatics software, the individualized antigen or "neoantigen" is then narrowed down. Next, the software calculates the possible sites of antigen-presentation by Human Leukocyte Antigens of individuals, as well as peptide fragments with the highest affinity. Finally, from the countless peptide fragments resulting from mutation, the complete personalized true epitope will be the neoepitope. Confirmation of IFNγ production is carried out using in vitro assays to narrow down the epitope candidate.

The crowds of summer had yet to arrive and the normally bustling streets of the old quarter lay quiet. She was blonde, aged around four and wearing pyjamas. Despite the chill in the air, her feet were bare. Martin and his daughter Aoife noted that her skin was very white. A member of Martin’s family made a comment towards him that the child was sleeping but he did not respond or make eye contact, keeping his head down as he hurriedly headed in the direction of the coast. At the time, Martin did not realise the sighting had the potential to change the course of the world’s most high-profile missing-person case. The following morning, he got a text from his daughter in Ireland to tell him that a three-year old girl had gone missing in the resort. The approximate time frame and location he had witnessed the man and child appeared to match. By now, the mystery of what happened to Madeleine McCann was beginning to grip the world. Martin brought his mind back to the evening before and wondered if the child he saw could have been her. The girl certainly matched Madeleine’s description and the sighting had taken place at Rua da Escola Primaria, just 500 yards from the McCanns’ apartment. In time, Martin would become convinced he was correct. A clip I have seen before on the Internet. In relation to the video clips of Gerard McCann and the person I saw on 3rd May 2007 when I saw the BBC news at 10 PM on 9th September 2007 something struck me that it could have been the same person. It was the way Gerard McCann turned his head down which was similar to what the individual did on 3rd May 2007 when we met him. It may have been the way he was carrying the child either. I would be 60-80% sure that it was Gerard McCann that I met that night carrying a child. I am basing that on his mannerism in the way he carried the child off the plane.

This instruments operates in accordance with the principle of super-heterodyne receiver. It converts the input signal to an intermediate frequency (IF). This operation is carried out with the aid of a mixer and a local oscillator (LO). The input frequency range is converted to a constant IF by varying the LO frequency. In order to accomplish this result, a tunable LO is adopted and it is driven by a saw-tooth wave generator. At IF it has a bandpass filter which bandwidth influences the resolution of the analysis. The trace displayed on the screen is the envelope of the IF filtered signal. This envelope contains the info about the frequency behavior of the input signal.

Josep graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Barcelona, Catalonia. Soon after graduating, he moved to Stoke-on-Trent where he carried out his training in Oncology at the North Staffordshire Royal Infirmary. Josep has had always an interest in cancer research and following 4 years training in Stoke-on-Trent, he moved to the National Cancer Institute in Milan, Italy. He spent 2 and a half years in Milan developing his research career on cancer immunotherapy and gene therapy. Following this time, he moved back to Stoke-on-Trent in 1995 where he has been working ever since, combining his clinical work in Oncology at UHNM with basic and translational research at the Institute for Science and Technology in Medicine at Keele University. He got his PhD degree at Keele University. His research spans from enhancing oncological patients’ satisfaction with their management (he won the UHNM Staff award for patient experience in 2012) to improving the early diagnosis of cancer using spectrometry and spectroscopy techniques. He was involved in the development of one of the beamlines at Diamond Light Source, Oxfordshire (one of the major research facilities in the UK) and is a founding member of the International Society for Clinical Spectroscopy. He has been a member of different International Committees, an invited speaker at several international meetings, has supervised to success several PhD students, and his work has been publicised not only in the written press nationally but also in the BBC 10 o’clock news (national news). He has also recently been involved in the creation of a Master Medical Science Course in Oncology where its novelty sits on students combining clinical activities with basic research in oncology. The application of breath analysis in the management of disease goes back to ancient Greece when Hippocrates described fetor oris (halitosis) and fetor hepaticus (a sign of liver failure). Since then, people have been aware through observation that some breath smells were related to certain diseases. A major breakthrough was achieved when Linus Pauling described in 1971 over 200 different Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) in human exhaled air and in urine headspace. The use of breath analysis as a non-invasive tool to manage diseases has clear examples in the [13/14C] urea breath test used in the diagnosis of Helicobacter pylori infection and the nitric oxide (NO) breath test in the diagnosis of airway inflammation. Present techniques can now measure VOCs in the range of parts per million (ppm) to parts per trillion (ppt) by volume. The identification of VOCs in the breath of patients with cancer, specially lung cancer, has attracted a lot of interest in the last few years. While several studies including ours have been able to differentiate between cancer cells and non-malignant cells grown in vitro based on their VOCs’ profile in the headspace cultures, the in vivo studies have provided conflicting results. Several factors such as the origin of the VOCs (from tumour cells and/or tumour microenvironment), sample collection and VOCs detection need still to be tackled before breath analysis can make it into clinical practice. This Inaugural Lecture will discuss some of these issues and the work carried out using the Selected Ion Flow Tube Mass Spectrometry (SIFT-MS) for VOCs analysis specially in lung cancer.

On the day of 9/11 the North tower was "struck" first. There is only one piece of film footage known to have recorded this event. The second "impact" was recorded by between 50 and 60 different video cameras, each having a different viewing perspective of the same event. Even though there are so many recordings of what happened, the evidence in these recordings casts huge doubt over whether boeing 767's were used in the attacks. Other non video evidence also supports the "no planes" hypothesis. In this film Richard D. Hall analyses all of the video footage of the alleged second impact and compares what was seen on video with a 3 dimensional computer model of the World Trade Centre and surrounding area. The findings of this film bring us one step closer to the truth about how 9/11 was carried out. A major finding is uncovered in the analysis which shows official radar data recorded by the military was different to that reported in a civilian radar report. The discrepancy suggests one of these sets of data is bogus and sheds light on how the illusion may have been created. It seems 9/11 was a highly organised, technologically sophisticated psychological operation which fooled half the world. Not only was advanced technology being deployed in the form of an energy weapon to "dematerialise" the towers, but further advanced technology may also have been used to create the visual illusion of passenger airplanes in the sky. The detailed 3D video and radar analysis is presented in part two of this video. In parts one and three, Richard D. Hall is joined by Andrew Johnson for a discussion on the 9/11 video evidence and possible attempts to keep people from finding the real truth about the technology used. Wheelhouse modeled with mild steel, kinematic power law strain hardening, and an RTCL fracture criterion. The ship is forced along the longitudinal axis at 10 m/s and hits the offshore structure at a 45 degree angle. This was done in order to create force-displacement and energy-displacement diagrams. Collision time is 1.8 seconds. Approximately 500 CPU-hours was needed.

Basic Torsional Analysis with the Rotor Dynamics Software MADYN 2000

In the video the torsional rotor dynamic analysis of a compressor train with the software MADYN 2000 is shown. Non-linear couplings, e.g. rubber coupling, slipping device or shear pins. Fluid couplings with frequency-dependent stiffness and damping such as torque converters. Shaft trains with epicyclic gears, where the planet carrier can either be stationary or rotating. Coupling effects between lateral and torsional vibrations in the gear. MADYN 2000 is a leading rotordynamics software developed by DELTA JS. In this video we show its use for the torsional analysis of a compressor train with motor and gear. After creating a new system and giving it a title the torsional degree of freedom is selected. The prepared shafts are loaded into the system. In the video about the lateral analysis you can learn more about creating a shaft model. Afterwards the two flexible couplings are added to the system. When all components are ready the shafts and the couplings can be connected. For the connection of gear wheel and pinion gear properties have to be specified. The gear ratio is determined by the mesh radii and the position of the pinion by an angular value in the MADYN 2000 coordinate system. The mesh stiffness can also be entered; usually, it affects only the higher modes. In a double helical gear the gear shafts can be connected at two points. Once the shaft train model has been assembled it can be visualised with a 3D plot. The first analysis to be carried out is an eigenvalue analysis. In a purely torsional system the eigenvalues are independent of the rotor speed. The calculated mode shapes can be plotted. According to the Campbell diagram there is a resonance of the second mode with twice low speed. The flexible coupling variation offers a practical way of finding a suitable coupling stiffness for resonance-free operation. In this example the impact of the high speed coupling on the natural frequencies is analysed. With the resulting frequency-versus-stiffness diagram it is easy to determine the appropriate coupling stiffness. After recalculating the eigenvalues with a stiffer high speed coupling the Campbell diagram proves that all modes have now more than 10% separation margin from potential excitations at operating speed. Next, a short circuit analysis is carried out. This time-dependent load requires a transient analysis. Transient loads consist of combinations of forces and time functions. In addition to the static load, which has already been entered, we create now the 2-phase short circuit load. In the function GUI a suitable function is selected and the parameters are entered. Then, the time-dependent function can be plotted. When the required functions are ready they have to be combined with the torques. The exciting air gap torque of the 2-phase short circuit is applied at the motor and the static counter torque at the compressor. The completed short circuit load case can be plotted. The analysis for the preload of the compressor train due to nominal operating torque has been carried out beforehand and we can directly proceed with the 2-phase short circuit. The short circuit analysis is carried out as a continuation run of the static preload. The linear transient analyses are very fast. Usually, the flexible couplings and the shaft ends are the critical parts of a shaft train. Therefore, we select the two couplings for time history plots of the short circuit response torques. The torque can be plotted in Newtonmeter or as a multiple of the nominal torque. Many additional features facilitate realistic simulations with complex torsional models. INTRODUCTION The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II which is a single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth multirole fighters is UNDERGOING FINAL DEVELOPMENT AND TESTING by the United States. The pentagon began the F 35 program in 2001 with an aim to develop a cost effective replacement for the u.s. military’s f-15 fighters, f-16 and f-18 bombers and reconnaissance aircraft, and a-10 close air support warplanes. Apart from United States,the primary customer and financial backer, the United Kingdom, Italy, the Netherlands, Canada, Turkey, Australia, Norway and Denmark are also part of the program. Many other nations like Japan and Israel are also deploying the fighters. The nine major partner nations, including the U.S, plan to acquire over 3,000 F-35s through 2035, which, if delivered will make the F-35 one of the most numerous jet fighters. The fighter aircraft will be in service till 2050. On 2 August 2016, the U.S. Air Force declared its first squadron of F-35A fighters combat-ready. S 400 Triumph is an anti-aircraft weapon system developed by Russia's Almaz Central Design bureau in the 1990s as an upgrade of the s-300 family. it has been in service with the Russian armed forces since 2007. It is designed to defend against aircrafts including 5th generation stealth fighters ,bombers, awacs, cruise missiles and ballistic missile. It is considered one of the most power anti aircraft defense system in the world. In this video Defense Updates analyze the outcome when F 35 is pitted against S 400 SPECIFICATIONS Here is a list of specifications of F 35 and S 400 respectively. OPTIONS In a combat environment , F 35 has the following options to defeat S 400. 1. OUT RUN 2. OUT MANEUVER A MISSILE 3. STEALTH TO AVOID DETECTION 4. USE EW SUIT TO JAM S 400 5. LONG RANGE PREEMPTIVE STANDOFF STRIKE We will analyze each of these one by one and rate the chances F 35 against S 400 on a scale of 1 to 5. OUT RUN But in case of F 35 , the tactics will be useless since it has a top speed of only 1.6 mach and missiles deployed by s 400 have hypersonic speeds ranging from 6 Mach to 14 Mach. For example, 40N6 missile has a speed of 14 Mach. OUT MANEUVER F 35 is not designed to be a great dogfighter and lacks agility when compared to fighters like F 22 or SU 35. The need for the small F 35 to carry a heavy range of internal engines, fuel and weapons has resulted in what aviation experts labels a ‘high wing loading’. essentially, the wings are small in relation to its weight and this impedes maneuverability. F 35 also has a sluggish rate of climb when compared to modern fighters. STEALTH The trump card of F 35 against any air defense system is that , it is a stealthy aircraft. But F 35’s simplified airframe is far less of the ‘shaped stealth’ found in the F 22. This implies a much greater reliance on radar-absorbing materials. * Against x-band radars, it is only stealthy (lo) from front and rear; * Against s-band radar, it is stealthy from narrow front aspect, * Against l-band radar. limited reduction is achieved from direct front The nabob svn & zebu m have a claimed capability against stealth aircraft. Keeping in view the different aspects, F 35 will be vulnerable in a combat scenario. EM SUIT All three variants of the F 35 carry Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radars with sophisticated electronic attack capabilities, including false targets, network attack, advanced jamming and algorithm-packed data streams. This system allows the F 35 to reach well-defended targets and suppress enemy radars that threaten the F 35. LONG RANGE PREEMPTIVE STANDOFF STRIKE S 400 is designed to be mobile. All system components are carried by self-propelled wheeled all-terrain chassis. Even if detected, S 400 will be a very very tough nut to crack. Just one S 400 system can control up to 72 launchers, with a maximum of 384 missiles. This means that system has enough ammunition & targeting strength to take down a saturation attack.Also an important aspect is that for aerodynamic target and ballistic targets, the minimum engagement range is only 2 and 5 km respectively . A separate independent air defense system 42S6 Morfey , is being developed by Russia’s Almaz-Antey corporation. This system is designated as short-range air defense system, and will protect the s-400 from various threats at their terminal phases. CONCLUSION As per our analysis, F 35 will find it difficult to operate in areas protected by S 400. This means the not only us but the partner nations will find it hard to gain air supremacy, which is vital in modern conflicts.

MICROSCALE CHARACTERIZATION IN THE SEM: ELECTRON CHANNELING AND DIFFRACTION FOR ORIENTATION ANALYSIS AND DEFECT IMAGING Miércoles 18 de Abril de 2012. MARTIN A. CRIMP DEPARTMENT OF CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AND MATERIALS SCIENCE, MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY, USA Electron diffraction has been used for many years to characterize materials at the nanoscale. Historically these studies have been carried out using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), which not only allows diffraction studies based on selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and convergent beam electron diffraction (CBED), but also imaging and defect analysis based on diffraction contrast. A primary difficulty in using TEM has been the limitations imposed by the preparation and use of TEM thin foils. As an alternative approach, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) offers the ability to carry out a number of different types of electron diffraction studies on bulk specimens. Selected area channeling patterns (SACPs) and electron back scattered diffraction (EBSD) patterns can be used to measure crystalline orientations at spatial resolutions in the micron range. Electron channeling contrast imaging (ECCI) can be used to image nanoscale crystalline defects such as dislocations and deformation twins. In many respects, the image formation in ECCI is analogous to diffraction contrast in TEM, and similar contrast analyses can be carried out. This talk will cover the basic processes of electron diffraction and channeling phenomena in bulk samples, along with the experimental parameters involved with carrying out electron diffraction/channeling analyses. A number of examples will be presented that illustrate the capabilities and advantages of using ECCI for defect imaging and analysis including the examination of defect structures at crack tips and edges, the study of defect generation in in-situ loaded samples, and the analysis of deformation transfer and nucleation of microcracks at grain boundaries. Additionally, examples of the application of ECCI to the non-destructive imaging of dislocations in electronic devices will be presented.

However, what we do find on Mr. Marshals reversals is a disturbed and confused mind, with reversals such as “Muck inside my head,” “Help, you are sick,” and “He keeps his madness.” Furthermore, he is wrestling with some strong inner emotions and these emotions are partially responsible for his story, “and I suffered,” “the guilt,” “Grief would say this,” and “So sad.” It is possible that some of his story has been created from his own fantasies, with this reversal, “Your dreams,” and “You make your bad,” implying he has unconsciously created this story. The reasons for this creation would partially be the mental torment that we have previously noted. However, the vast majority of his story is a straight out lie with reversals such as, “This is not honest,” “I said doubts,” “We fake it,” and “My bullshit.” Part of his motivation is to obtain notoriety with reversals such as “I live when they look, (0r take notice of me)” and “Feel I wanted a bud (buddy).” Other than these small clues into his motivation and veracity, most reversals make absolutely no sense which is the classic sign of a delusional mind. Some examples are, “Earning if you rent,” The mailmen suffer,” “we’ll miss the brain,” and “They’re dying in Brazil.” In conclusion, Donald Marshal is a disturbed man who is dealing with a troubled mind. A Qur’an manuscript held by the University of Birmingham’s Cadbury Research Library has been placed among the oldest in the world thanks to modern scientific methods. Radiocarbon analysis has dated the parchment on which the text is written to the period between AD 568 and 645 with 95.4% accuracy. The test was carried out in a laboratory at the University of Oxford. The result places the leaves close to the time of the Prophet Muhammad, who lived between AD 570 and 632. Researchers conclude that the Qur’an manuscript is among the earliest written textual evidence of the Islamic holy book known to survive.
