Hong Kong and Macau Compared

Both are cities- no they’re not Mr. Beat you idiot! Ok Ok, both are special. Special administrative regions of China, that is., based on China’s one country, two systems principle. According to CGP Grey, they are both “the most country-like countries that aren’t countries.” Confused yet? Basically, Hong Kong and Macau are a part of China, but both get a lot of leeway to decide how they want to do stuff compared to the rest of China. China takes care of their foreign affairs and military defense and they take care of everything else. Both have a presidential limited democracy, although Hong Kong seems more open to expand that democracy than Macau. Both are part of the Pearl River Delta, which is probably the biggest urban area in the world based on both its size and population. Some estimates put the population of the Pearl River Delta metropolitan area at 120 million! Oh my goodness. What? 120 million? No way. Russia has like just 24 million more people than that. Ok sorry, anyway, both are incredibly densely populated. Macau is the most densely populated territory in the world and Hong Kong is 4th. There are people everywhere, man! So maybe this makes sense, but the largest ethnic group in both regions is Chinese. However, Hong Kong has a significant Filipino and Indonesian minority and Macau has a significant Macanese minority, which is a mix of Portuguese and Asian ancestry. Wait, Portuguese? Huh? Yeah, well both Hong Kong and Macau are former colonies of Western empires. Until 1997, Great Britain controlled Hong Kong. Until 1999, Portugal controlled Macau. Because of that, the two were heavily influenced by foreign powers and not as much influenced by China. Actually, over time, the foreign powers left them both alone, too, and they thrived, probably because of that. In fact, both Hong Kong and Macau are two of the richest territories in the world due to free markets working their magic there. Indeed, both make a lot of money. Hong Kong’s GDP per capita is about $45,000 a year, the 12th highest in the world, although it is dealing with some dramatic income inequality right now. Macau’s GDP per capita is over $104,000 a year, making it the 3rd highest in the world. Macau is so rich that it doesn’t know what to do with all the extra money, so its government gives it back directly to the citizens. Both have very low taxes compared to most of the world. However, residents of Hong Kong do pay about 25% more taxes than residents of Macau. Despite this, according to the Heritage Foundation’s Index of Economic Freedom, Hong Kong ranks number one in the world, and has been ranked number one every year since the list began 23 years ago. Macau is ranked 34th on that same list. The cost of living in both countries is pretty similar, although Macau is about 3% cheaper currently, mostly due to Hong Kong’s higher housing costs. Both have low unemployment. Based on the latest numbers I could find, Hong Kong’s unemployment rate is 2.9% and people were freaking out recently when Macau’s unemployment went up from 1.8% all the way up to 1.9%. I’m obviously kidding. That’s a ridiculously low unemployment rate. Speaking of ridiculous, both have a ridiculously high life expectancy.

Top 10 Countries With The LARGEST Gold Reserves!

10:32
Check out these 10 countries with the largest gold reserves in the world! This top 10 list features some of the richest and wealthiest countries on earth that have tons of gold bars stacked up somewhere! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "SURPRISING And Interesting Facts About Money!" video here: https://youtu.be/ONpChSPqVc4 Watch our "Most AMAZING Discoveries With A Metal Detector!" video here: https://youtu.be/45JveYKafVo Watch our "Most EXPENSIVE Diamonds In The World!" video here: https://youtu.be/RcZATf3Lmb0 10.) India According to the World Gold Council, the Bank of India currently holds 557.7 tons of gold. It is one of the largest stores of gold in the world! This makes up 9.9 % of the country’s total foreign reserve. Foreign exchange reserves is money or other assets held by a nation’s central bank so they can back the national currency. India, home to 1.25 billion people, is the number one largest consumer of the precious metal. Furthermore, India is one of the most reliable drivers of global demand. For example, India’s festival and wedding season, which runs from October to December, has historically been a major market for gold. And probably, one of the most interesting facts about India and gold is that India rarely invests much in gold. This is because as a country, India operates under the belief that buying gold leads to a deficit. And their belief must be proving right as things also seem to be improving for India. For instance, if you look at the last few years, India has increased its gold reserves from 557.74 to 557.77. While this might not seem like a lot, India is also at its highest point in history! In addition to what the country holds, Indian households which are considered the world’s largest hoarders of gold, hold a record 23,000-24,000 tons, which is worth about $800 billion. 9.) Netherlands In the past few years, the Netherlands has held 52% of its foreign reserve in gold. The Netherlands has a reported 612.45 tons. In 2016 it was reported that the bank was looking for a place to store all its gold because they were going to renovate the vaults and needed to moving it. The Dutch central bank is planning to move the country’s gold reserves from the center of Amsterdam to a new complex called the Cash Center. Like most countries, Dutch gold is also held in banks around the world to reduce risk. Security measures to guard the gold 24/7 have become a problem in Amsterdam. 189,000 kilos of gold will be moved at the beginning of 2022. Maybe this is one reason that over the last decade and a half, the Netherlands was selling off tons of gold in order to reduce its reserve. However, there weren’t that many buyers out there and they sold less than the country wanted. More recently the country has had less ambition to sell gold. Currently, the country holds the same amount of tons, 612.45 that they have over the last few years. However, the country has increased its percentage of foreign reserves to 61.2 %. 8.) Japan Japan is another country which had been increasing its gold reserves since the 1960’s. Their official gold holdings were reported at 765.2 tons. About 2.4% of Japan’s gold today is in foreign reserve. Historically, Japan has always held a bit more gold than other countries. This was true until 2011, when they began to sell some of their reserve in order to pump money into the economy after the tsunami and the following Fukushima nuclear disaster. But even with selling, Japan’s central bank has been one of the most aggressive practitioners of quantitative easing. For example, in January of 2016, it lowered interest rates below zero, which has helped fuel demand in gold around the world. 7.) Switzerland Prior to 1997, Switzerland was steadily building its gold reserves. In 1997, the decision was made to sell some of those reserves to bolster the Swiss currency and diversify the foreign reserves. The percent of foreign reserves in Switzerland is currently 6.7 %. Switzerland actually has the world’s largest reserves of gold per capita and currently has reported 1,040 tons. Over time, many citizens in the country started to feel like the bank was getting rid of too much gold. They then banded together with the “Save the Swiss” movement. However, once everyone was able to vote in 2014, the vote came to a no, and gold continued to be sold. During World War II, Switzerland became the center of the gold trade in Europe, making transactions with both the Allies and Axis powers. Today, much of its gold trading is done with Hong Kong and China. Around last year, the Swiss National Bank made a $5.9 billion profit, reportedly from its gold holdings. Economic Collapse Is Coming! China 'Weaponize' Yuan For Dollar Collapse - 2018 Stock Market CRASH!

13:05
The most incredible video of the imminent economic collapse and a major stock market crash. Can we avoid the global economic collapse during this trade war between the two largest economies on the entire planet?  We have never seen anything like this happen in the modern age, and this is creating a tremendous amount of uncertainty for the financial markets.  China has been stealing our intellectual property, manipulating currency rates and slapping high tariffs on American goods. We simply could not allow China to continue to take advantage of us, but now we are so dependent on the Chinese that a trade war with them is going to inevitably produce a major economic collapse and stock market crash.  We are all going to wish that another way could have been found to resolve this economic crisis, because in the short-term this is definitely going to hurt the U.S. economy and causing a major economic collapse.  And if President Trump chooses to press forward with trade wars against Europe, Canada and Mexico at the same time as well, the pain for our economy is going to be off the charts. We are making such material available in our issues, etc. We believe this constitutes a 'fair use' of any such copyrighted material as provided for in section 107 of the US Copyright Law http://copyright.gov/ DEFINITION of 'Trade War' A trade war is a side effect of protectionism that occurs when one country (Country A) raises tariffs on another country’s (Country B) imports in retaliation for Country B raising tariffs on Country A's imports. A tariff is a tax imposed on imported goods and services. Trade wars can commence if one country perceives another country's trading practices to be unfair or when domestic trade unions pressure politicians to make imported goods less attractive to consumers. Trade wars are also a result of a misunderstanding of the widespread benefits of free trade. What is 'Economic Collapse ' An economic collapse is a complete breakdown of a national, regional or territorial economy. An economic collapse is essentially a severe version of an economic depression, where an economy is in complete distress for years, or possibly even decades. A total economic collapse is characterized by economic depression, civil unrest and highly increased poverty levels. Hyperinflation, stagflation and financial-market crashes can all be causes. Government intervention is usually necessary to bring an economy back from collapse, but can often be slow to remedy the problem. The Great Depression in the United States is a prime example of an economic collapse. The 1929 stock market crash brought on a collapse that lasted for many years and saw high levels of poverty. Well-known economist John Maynard Keynes claimed this was from the total lack of government involvement in the economy or the financial markets. Definition of 'Stock Market Crash' A stock market crash is a rapid and often unanticipated drop in stock prices. A stock market crash can be a side effect of major catastrophic events, economic crisis or the collapse of a long-term speculative bubble. Reactionary public panic about a stock market crash can also be a major contributor to it.

The inflated prices are forcing Hongkongers to squeeze into unconventionally small spaces that can affect their quality of life. FAKE MONKS OF HONG KONG - TOURIST SCAM

10:49
Fake monk scam - monks targeting westerners and tourists begging for money are on the rise in Hong Kong. After being approached a couple of times we decided to start filming. The majority of these fake monks are from mainland China and they are illegally working (scamming people) on their tourist visas. Some are claiming to be from a religious group seeking donations for a new temple. This is a scam and the Hong Kong Buddhist Association advises genuine monks are not allowed to beg in Hong Kong (people who want to donate should send cheques to registered organisations). There have been some arrests in recent months but the problem is ongoing and people continue to get scammed. Admittedly, 3:00-3:45 was extremely awkward, we weren't expecting them to come up to us again as it had already happened off camera. The first time, when I said no thank you, they forced a bracelet onto my wrist, demanded money and then when we continued to say no thank you and handed back the bracelet they pretended to curse us! There were at least 5 of these monks in the one location so we made this video to inform other people of the scam and although we made an 11min video we did only follow the fake monks for 5-10mins and we stopped a couple of people from being scammed. We mention at the end that this is obviously how they make their money and we didn't want to get in the way of that so we left them to it and we just wanted to make this video to inform other people so that they may avoid being scammed. This scam happens all over the world, not just in Hong Kong. Thanks for watching and subscribe for more travel tips and travel videos.

The unknown facts about US-China Trade

26:31
While trade tensions with China escalate, the US keeps complaining that it has suffered losses because of trade deficits. But is it true? Is global trade so simple that deficits or surplus can explain it once and for all? To answer these questions, CGTN looked at information from households, factories and experts’ opinions, together with data analysis, to present you with a comprehensive interpretation of China-US trade. How Exchange Rates Work

04:57
● We explain topics simply. So Subscribe if you want to learn while being entertained. ✔ Please like the video and comment if you enjoyed - it helps a lot! ▶ If you want a question answered then ask in the comments and we may make a video about it! About the video: You may have traveled a lot and wondered why you get more of one currency when you exchange it for another. If so, you have witnessed exchange rates in action, but do you know how they work? Watch the video to find out what exchange rates are, how to convert between them and the different systems which determine a currencies exchange rate. Historically the gold standard system had been used, which fixed currency to a select value of gold, held in a vault. The three main systems are the floating, managed and fixed exchange rate systems. The floating system has minimal government intervention, using supply and demand to determine the exchange rate. The managed exchange rate is allowed to be within a permitted band and a fixed exchange rate is usually pegged to a currency with the interest of being competitive in the international market. The video explains this in more detail and with helpful picture to guide you through the subject.

Economic Collapse Already Started! Cezary Graf's US Dollar & Cryptocurrency Supremacy View

10:15
How will the next economic collapse look step by step? Where will it start? When will it start? What impact will it have, and how will the world look after the global economic crisis and the Next Great Recession? Regarding how it will play out, Cezary Graf notes that Trump and Federal Reserve policy will lead to financial collapse around the world. The economic collapse has already started. The Turkish lira is plunging, the Argentinian central bank has increased interest rates to the cosmic level of 60%, and Iranian inflation is skyrocketing. However, these are minor players. The crucial years will be 2019 and 2020 when the deadly cocktail will be served for India, Pakistan, China, Japan, and the European Union, among others. In 2020, the United States and the dollar will also be hit; however, the magnitude will be significantly limited, in contrast to what many are currently saying about the upcoming dollar collapse. In 2022, after the next global financial crisis, the United States will be in the best shape of all major countries. I am ready to take bets. It is very naive to expect that after the 2000 dot-com bubble burst and 2008-2009 economic collapse, that the third one will again start in the US. From a conservative point of view, the US currency and bond supply are perhaps still too high, and rates may still be too low, however, despite its peculiarity, the dollar and US debt are the most popular US exports. During the next two years, when major emerging markets will be struck by various crises, we will have massive capital flows into the US. This will include the dollar itself, the US bond market, the US stock market, and US real estate. Two major trends can be expected: 1 - A massive human migration crisis. Emerging market countries' citizens will be displaced because of economic reasons. And yet again, the US under the Trump administration will manage it relatively well. 2 - A massive chunk of the capital pulled out of emerging markets will be channeled to the most robust cryptocurrencies. The devaluation of EM currencies, the dismantling of the SWIFT system, and the pursuit of new investment solutions by private, corporate, and public parties will be the main causes of this great money migration. Cezary Graf states that the value of cryptocurrencies will rise substantially from mid-2018 levels, thus making potential returns from other capital allocations much less attractive. Ignoring this is the manifestation of a deep misunderstanding of where the world is now and where it is going. This will be the first crisis with the crypto option on the table. What is a 'Cryptocurrency' A cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security. A cryptocurrency is difficult to counterfeit because of this security feature. A defining feature of a cryptocurrency and arguably its most endearing allure is its organic nature; it is not issued by any central authority, rendering it theoretically immune to government interference or manipulation. Cryptocurrency Benefits and Drawbacks Cryptocurrencies make it easier to transfer funds between two parties in a transaction; these transfers are facilitated through the use of public and private keys for security purposes. These fund transfers are done with minimal processing fees, allowing users to avoid the steep fees charged by most banks and financial institutions for wire transfers. How The Federal Reserve Works (And Who Really Owns It)

The Federal Reserve is one of the cornerstones of the American economy, and with good reason: it performs key functions without which the modern financial sector could not exist. The Fed, however, is surprisingly new, having only emerged during the early 20th century. For comparison, the British and the Dutch have had central banks since the 17th century and they were one of the key factors in sustaining their vast overseas empires. But it's exactly this imperialistic history that made the Founding Fathers reluctant to apply the same method to the United States. Of course, central banks were vital for a healthy economy and without one, the US suffered frequent and deep recessions for many decades before things got bad enough to force the hand of Congress. The creation of the Federal Reserve was not smooth, of course, and it was an exercise in political compromise. The structure Congress crafted with the help of bankers like J. P. Morgan was unique: twelve regional federal reserve banks would regulate private banks on a local level, with a single board of governors appointed by the President to keep everyone in line. What's most surprising is the structure of these regional reserve banks: they're incorporated as private entities and have shares, which every bank they regulate must buy by law. These shares can't be traded though, and their price is fixed to $100. They do, however, carry a lucrative dividend, which was created to entice the bankers of the day to participate and support the fledgling system. Under the kind patronage of Nagabhushanam Peddi, Dan Supernault, James Gallagher & Brett Gmoser.

Over the years the US dollar has become weaker and weaker, and it seems the Chinese Yuan is getting stronger and stronger. In a few years China's GDP is believed to surpass the US GDP making it the strongest in the world. Recently at the BRICS annual meeting, the five fastest growing countries decided to ditch the dollar and use their own currencies in mutual trade putting the buck almighty in jeopardy. Michael T. Why is the DOLLAR the World's RESERVE CURRENCY? - VisualPolitik EN

You’ve heard this a thousand times: the American dollar is the World’s reserve currency, the hegemonic currency in the planet. However, what does it really mean that the dollar is the hegemonic currency? I mean… how does the United States benefit from having a currency that is been used for the international trade? Is it really that important? Really? And the most important thing of all… Could the American Dollar loose its status? Could it be replaced by other currencies like the EURO or the Chinese YUAN? Economic Collapse Confirmed! Most Credible Video Ever!

39:35
This is a tough topic, because people either don’t won’t to believe it or are not capable because they lack the knowledge to comprehend what is being said. When you understand that our country can only operate based on debt/credit, not physical dollars, you finally see that the USA is a huge Ponzi scheme built on nothing more that our ability to borrow money. Our status as the world reserve currency has allowed us to borrow money that we do not have. The government says that there are 10 trillion dollars sitting in the US Banking system that we can go and easily withdrawal. How can that be true when there only exists 1.4 trillion of real money in circulation (dollars and coins) and more than one half of that is outside the US. This doesn’t include the 10s of trillions more that we owe other countries that have purchased our debt. If our creditors were to all come and ask for their money at one time there would be less than $1 dollar for every $1000 dollars owed. The world economy collapses. All Great empires based on fiat currencies end in this way. People I talk to like my wife and friends have no clue what is coming. This is a long video and I have edited it to half of its original length. It is the single most logical and credible documentary I have ever watched on the future of the US economy. It makes be sick that the Fed decided to bailout the corrupt bankers instead of the US citizens. Instead of bailing out the banks, the Fed could have paid off every consumer debt in the country and freed up trillions of dollars for the consumer. Instead they padded the pockets of the banking elite. I wanted to puke. Now they are setting things up to try one last historic cash grab. Driving the stock market to all time highs so then can short the hell out of it. I think Trump will snuff if he is not assassinated first. I am 58 years old and a registered professional engineer in Maryland. I have owned 3 very different types of businesses over the past 30 years. I am now retired. I have watched hundreds of videos on the economy and done years of research into past financial failures going as back before the Roman Empire. Dr. Paul Roberts is one of my followers and referenced me in a video I produced on Sandy Hook. People do not want to acknowledge that the fall of fiat currencies is nothing new and that the US has made it this far ONLY because we are the default reserve currency of the world. There have been 440 economies based on fiat currencies in modern history…. They have all come to the same demise, FAILURE. Having an education in Engineering with a minor in mathematics I do not believe that the US is exempt from the natural laws of economics. Please watch the video and prepare as you deem appropriate. You may want to research “normalcy bias”; it explains why people have a hard time excepting the true outcome of a situation that has played out the same way again and again throughout history. I keep hearing from my friends and family that the US is different. That is true. The US is in much deeper shit than any country in history. If you doubt that watch the entire video. You cannot deny the logic!!

Petro-Dollar To Petro-Yuan & The Future Of The US Dollar

15:29
The Petro-Dollar To Petro-Yuan Shift Is Underway Now And It Will Kill The Dollar The petrodollar is the glue of the current monetary system which goes back to 1971 when the dollar was unpegged from gold. There was a massive destabilization period that followed this change. The petrodollar is based on getting OPEC and the Saudis to price oil in dollars. It pegged the monetary system into a credit cycle which has built from that point forward. The world needed dollars, so they started to buy U.S. debt. China and other nations are increasingly moving away from the dollar. They are creating their own systems such as the Petro-Yuan. This credit cycle will become unwound as various countries stop using petrodollar debt. In essence, the mechanics of the change are already in place. At some point soon they will lose control of the interest rate cycle. Central banks have control the overnight rate, but the buyers ultimately control the longer-term bonds. Once power is lost there will be a rapid compounding effect of stagflation. The bottom line will be higher costs of living and there will be a transfer of assets to hard assets like commodities. https://www.silverdoctors.com/headlines/world-news/the-petro-dollar-to-petro-yuan-shift-is-underway-now-and-it-will-kill-the-dollar/ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Word of the Day: Currency Peg

03:20
Watch more Capital Account @ http://www.youtube.com/CapitalAccount http://twitter.com/laurenlyster http://twitter.com/coveringdelta A currency peg, otherwise referred to as a fixed exchange rate, is a type of exchange system wherein a currency's value is matched to the value of another single currency or to a basket of other currencies, or to another measure of value, such as gold. The most readily well-known "currency manipulator" is China, which pegs the yuan to the us dollar. Their's is a flexible peg, but a peg nonetheless, and we look at this during our word of the day, as well as the case of Argentina. These are two very different types of currency pegs. In the case of the yuan, China artificially undervalues their currency relative to the dollar, in an effort to cheapen their exports and drive growth with sales to the US and other countries. This is an export led growth model, facilitated by a cheap currency. The people's bank of china achieves this buy regularly going out into the open market and buying us dollars in return of chinese yuan. This helps to push down the value of the yuan relative to the dollar, cheapening the chinese currency, but also causing inflation domestically because china has to print all this extra money in order to soak up the USD it buys. When a country like china loosens it's peg, its currency will naturally rise. In the case of Argentina, the central bank in that country was keeping its currency artificially high relative to the USD. When Argentina headed into depression during the early 2000's it became increasingly difficult for the country to maintain the peg, because in the case of countries that are artificially increasing the value of their currency, the national central bank had to intervene in the market by selling foreign exchange reserve in return for pesos. This had its limits, since the Argentinian central bank only had so many reserves to sell. The advantage of having a strong and stable currency, as was the case in Argentina throughout the 90's is that it attracts a lot of foreign capital. However, when times get tough, a lot of that capital can leave and then you can find yourself bankrupt very quickly.
