Olympus OMD EM 10 Mark II - Black and White Photo Shoot Challenge

04:38
In this video, I take a quick one hour walk through the heart of the city of Melbourne. Equiped with the Olympus OMD EM 10 Mark II I set my self a challenge to shoot 24 photos in black and white, using the monotone mode accessible from the Picture Mode Option. By setting myself these limitations I forced myself to observer and be more considered in the subject matter i chose and waiting for the right moment. The OMD is a great camera for street photography, it is light weight, comfortable and handles really well. The articulating screen that goes into the horizontal position is ideal for waist level shots that helps you compose and set up your shots with ease. Its not just a capable still camera but also great fro shooting hand held video clips on the go, taking advantage of the 5 Axis Image Stabilisation your shots will be relatively smooth and steady without the need to lug around a tripod. The 5 Axis image stabilisation also kicks in when needed on still shots if the shutter speed drops below 1/60th so you can get images that you may have otherwise missed in low light situations.

Joby Grip Tight Auto Vent Clip - Universal car and tripod mount

02:38
The JOBY Grip tight auto vent clip is ideal for mounting your iphone 6S Plus or extra large android phone inside your car. I have the XL version here which retails at around $36 US. And this is going to be suited to larger phones with 5.5 inch screens such as the iPhone 6s plus. Unlike the cheap plastics found in the $2 variety of car mounts and phone holders this mount exudes quality from the moment you touch it. It feels solid and the moving parts have enough flexibility to twist and turn with ease and no matter what position you manoeuvre it into it feels solid at all times. Features: Low-profile design in your car: Lightweight, yet durable profile for discrete set-up on your air vent. Comes with removable GripTight smartphone mount: Mount connects to JOBY GorillaPods and other tripods via the stainless steel 1⁄4"-20 thread. Mount your phone vertically or horizontally: A positioning ball allows you to adjust the orientation and change your angle with ±20 degrees of movement. Secure after repeated use: With a durable polycarbonate-ABS plastic construction, the tightening knob locks your phone into the desired angle. BONUS airplane clip adapter: When traveling by plane, you can use the airplane clip adapter to mount on the closed tray table.
Which type of Camera should you buy in 2018 - DSLR or Mirrorless?

08:05
Over the past few years Sony and Olympus have developed a range of mirrorless cameras with such impressive specifications that many professional photographers have started to pay attention. For those of you currently looking to purchase a new camera in 2018, it can be a daunting time as the duopoly that existed in the form of Canon and Nikon has now been challenged by these newcomers into the space and for good reason. Sony, with their latest A7 and A9 cameras offer full frame sensors in a lighter body which can often outperform even the highest spec DSLR in terms of Megapixel count, Frame Rate and ability to shoot Full Frame 4K video. Olympus also gets a mention in this video as for a more modest budget their mirrorless offering, although not full frame can give you incredible results in a very compact and stylish body. Add to that a large range of lenses you can see why many photographers and photo enthusiasts are attracted to the brand. So in this video I outline the main differences between full frame, Micro 4.3 and APS-C and how the mechanics of a mirrorless camera is different to a DSLR.
Microsoft Surface Pro Alcantara Signature Type Cover - Unboxing and Review Cobalt Blue

03:21
Today I am going to unbox and review the Microsoft Surface Pro Alcantara Signature Type Cover keyboard. It comes in at around $200 US or $249 AU which is around $50 more than the standard surface keyboard and the reason for the price difference is the use of the premium Alcantara fabric which feels a lot like suede, but has the benefit of not being made of any animal products, and it’s said to be sustainable and 100% carbon neutral. It’s an Italian fabric made of Polyester (about 68 percent) and polyurethane (about 32 percent). In addition to being featured prominently in recent Microsoft Surface products, Alcantara is used by various companies in the fashion, interior, automotive, yachting, and aviation industries. One notable automaker that uses Alcantara in its vehicles is Porsche. It's stain-resistant (to a degree) and very soft. It's relatively durable and doesn't fade easily. I have the cobalt blue version in Alcantara fabric to unbox and test but it’s also available in burgundy and platinum. In terms of specs, it weighs only 310grams, 295mm by 217mm by 5mm thin. They keyboard layout is a full Qwerty config with a full row of function keys from F1 to F12 at the top. It has dedicated buttons for windows shortcuts, media controls such as volume and playback and screen brightness. The glass mouse pad feels great and is very accurate and responsive and allows for left and right button mouse click with 1 and 2 finger clicks. It includes a magnetic interface which allows you to click the keyboard into place as soon as you move it into position near the Surface pro. It only works when connected to the surface, and combined with the build in kick stand on the surface you can actually manoeuvre it all sorts of positions that make it easy to type on in any situation from the desktop to your laptop.
Canon EF 50mm L Series 1.2 Lens - Review with sample video and photos

03:32
This is one of my most favoured lenses. The high quality optics and ability to open up to a 1.2 aperture give the images and video shots with this lens a very distinctive look. I shot the opening scene using the lens to demonstrate the Bokeh that it produces when opened up to the 1.2 aperture and later on in the video you'll see some examples of photos form some of my commercial projects. Whether you’re looking for a portrait photography lens, a sports photography lens, or a lens for weddings, events or photojournalism, this practical lens will be a great addition to your photographer’s kit. The L-series quality, the EF 50mm f/1.2L USM is solidly built, with the convenient addition of weather sealing. In terms of optical quality, the 50mm 1.2 L series lens delivers excellent results especially in low light. Its ring-type USM autofocus and Full Time Manual focusing allow you to find superb sharpness within your shots, while flare, distortion and chromatic aberration are all very well controlled. Good bokeh ie background blur is essential in a portrait lens – and this lens performs wonderfully, allowing you to highlight your subject by creating a smooth background blur. How to connect the Moto 360 to your iPhone - Instructions & Review

04:18
Check out this video to find out how to get the Moto 360 Gen 1 working on your iPhone. UPDATE 5th November 2016: With the release of IOS 10.1.1 the battery life issue seems to have been resolved. I have done a factory reset on the moto 360 deleted android wear on the iPhone then reloaded it. Then I re-paired the Moto 360 and all good now getting 1 -1.5 days of battery life on the Moto 360 again. So far so good! PLEASE NOTE: SINCE RECORDING THIS VIDEO AND THE RELEASE OF IOS 10 I have experienced battery performance issues. Moto 360 drains battery in 1 hour when connected to iPhone.Currently investigating a fix, just testing and will release follow up video with solution shortly. Android Wear was recently released on iOS opening up the opportunity to connect various smart watches to IOS and the Moto 360 Gen 1 and Gen 2 are both compatible. You can connect a Moto 360 to just about any iphone running iOS 8.1 or higher. iPhone 5, Iphone 6, 6s, 6s plus etc. In this review I'll demonstrate the process of pairing the watch to the phone and also show you what features are included and omitted. Quick note about the update process. If the moto 360 hasn't been updated to the latest version of Android Wear you will need to get your hands on and Android device, phone or tablet to first pair the phone and update it. Once done, you can pair the watch to the Android device. As soon as you're up and running Go into the watch settings and run the system update. Now this can take some time, mine took over an hour to download and update. Check what version it updates to. It should be Android Wear 1.4.0.25. If it only updates to 1.3 I advice that you run a second update to bring it up to 1.4 which is much more stable and better on battery life. Anyway, one updated you then unpair it from the Android and then run the pairing process with your iPhone. If you're looking for a more detailed review of the features and specs of the Moto 360 then check out my follow up video here: https://youtu.be/0Q8vjBEI92k

How to shoot in Portrait Mode when taking photos of pets and objects with your iPhone XR

07:24
For anyone who has recently purchased or might be thinking about purchasing an iPhone XR you may have come across the limitation of portrait mode photography when you are shooting non-human subject matter. Portrait mode lets you adjust the aperture setting which can provided a high degree of control over the amount of background blur in your images. The iPhone Xs lets you use this setting on both human and non human subject matter, yet the XR has restrictions to human subject matter only. So if it doesn't recognise a human face it will not work. Thankfully for those of you needing to take photos of pets or still life, food or any object you can take advantage of third party applications that enable this feature on the iPhone XR. Focos is one example of this type of app which is actually modelled on light field photography that was pioneered by Lytro in 2012. Beyond providing aperture control, it also lets you select which part of the image you want to remain in focus and which section you wish to be pushed out of focus. In this video I show you a couple of example images taken with the app.....

The Canon 85mm L Series 1.2 II Prime - Photo Samples at all apertures

05:18
In this video I take a look at the Canon 85mm L Series Prime Lens and demonstrate how it performs in a still life photo shoot. From the full wide open aperture of f1.2 to f16 you'll see how much background blur you get at each setting. If you have been deliberating whether you should be looking at this lens or a zoom lens then this might be of interest to you. This is one of the most coveted portrait lenses Canon has ever produced and the main reason apart from the incredible build quality is the super wide aperture of 1.2 which allows you to not only shoot at at low light but also get and incredible amount of bokeh (background blur). As you'll see by the demonstration provided in the video, the 1.2 aperture has such a shallow depth of field that it becomes mostly impractical for commercial photography. Nonetheless the bokeh produced at slightly higher apertures and the precision build and quality of the glass make it a very appealing lens that is going to be suited to many applications from portraiture to still life and even street photography

The essential sound control panel, comes with a number of presets that will automatically analyse your audio and apply filters to make instant improvements to the quality of your projects. This tutorial is also useful If you are looking to remove noise from your audio including background noise, hissing and humming. Once the filters are applied you can go in and edit each filter and fine tune the effect to provide ultimate control and flexibility. In the second part of the video I take you through a manual process of editing audio that you may prefer to use if you want even more control over the audio track.

In this video I share with you my favourite smartwatches for 2018. All watches I have selected in this list are compatible with Android and also iOS. I have provided a wide spread of price points from incredibly well priced TIC Watch S which is under $200 US all the way up to $1,200 TAG Heuer Connected 41 representing the ultimate in sophistication and style. As it is so early in the year, no doubt there will be updates and new arrivals on the scene in the coming months. I expect an update to the Samsung Gear very soon and also some completely new brands which I will share with you as they are released. Even though I have presented them in an ordered list from 5 down to 1, its very hard to single one out as the best so hopefully the video gives you some ideas and suggestions but as always suggest you go on to do your own research and make a choice based on the specs and price point that best suits your requirements.. The moto 360 generation one android wear smart watch was released in September 2014. To get access to all of the features of Android wear and a large range of watch faces it is best suited to use with Android devices. However it can also be paired to an iPhone but its functionality is somewhat limited to receiving notifications and controlling your music apps. If you want to learn how to connect to an iPhone see my follow up video here: https://youtu.be/P3eW67xT-yA The moto 360 Gen 1 smartwatch is still available to purchase online from the motorola website and retails for around $199 US. Even though it has been superseded by the updated Generation 2 model its still viable option and worthy of consideration. Macbook Pro 2016 -1 year later - An honest conversation

08:12
In this video I talk about my experience with the Macbook Pro 2017, 1 year after purchase. This model was purchased in June 2017 just before the refresh, however the inherent flaws in the keyboard design, battery life and IO remain consistent throughout all of these models release since late 2016 to present day. Overall, I would have to say that the Macbook Pro is a great laptop well suited to the high demands of a creative professional, however there are some fundamental issues which I outline in this video that i think you should know about. For those fo you experiencing issues with your keyboard on this model. Check the following link for a quick and easy fix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJF2tThRt6g&t=123s

How to screen capture video on your iPhone - iOS 11

01:58
Have you ever wanted to take a screen recording on your iPhone. Well now since the introduction of iOS 11 you can. Most of you are probably already aware of how to take a screen shot of anything that appears on your screen, this has been built into the iPhone since the very early days. All you have to do is press on the home button and power button simultaneously. But what if you want to capture some video. A facebook video, youtube or any moving image on your screen. All you need to do is go to your settings/control centre. Customise Controls. Scroll down to More Controls and Tap on the plus icon next to Screen Recording and you’ll see it is moved to the included section at the top. That’s it your pretty much done. Tap on the home button to return to main screen now go and load up some video. I’ll play a clip from youtube for this demonstration. Now as the video is playing swipe up from the bottom of the screen to reveal the control Centre and now you’ll notice a new icon appear that wasn’t there before, a record button. Go ahead and tap on it. You’ll get a three second countdown and then your iPhone will start recording your video. When you want to stop it, simply swipe the control panel up again, tap on the record button to stop the recording and your video clip will be saved automatically to your photos library.
